2:20 Those are like the H spokes for the Viper or even the RT wheels for 2nd gen. Which ALL the viper wheels are the same pattern 6 x 114.3mm (4.5") just the wrong offset. After 05 all the trucks were 5 on 5.5" if I remember correctly. Thats why I'm getting a set of the RT wheels for my SLT Quadcab, no worry about backspacing or having to run a spacer and worry about cutting the studs. You are limited in tires at the original 255 width, in fact only two brands sell the actual correct OEM sizes. But if your upscaling your wheels you do the tires too. Which broadens your choices, once you add in 265 and 275 as the width

i like the stock 16x8 aluminum wheels on my 2001 4x4 and 2004 2wd crewcab pickups. those black rims do look nice on your truck.

Yeah, I like the looks of the factory wheel. I wish I could have found the 17" ones from the R/T models. But these black wheels have really grown on me, and they are super easy to clean.

I think you're looking for a wheel like the Dakota R/T wheel. And it fits your truck and it's factory and looks good.

Yeah, those wheels from the Dakota RT or Durango RT would have been great, but they seem to run twice what I paid for these wheels.

I am installing a engine in a 2003 Dodge Dakota 4.7 that I just had rebuilt I'm having trouble getting the engine in and aligning the motor mounts and the flywheel I think that the truck needs to be on a flat surface but I am not sure I am at a incline in my driveway I think that the truck needs to be on a flat surface but I am not sure Do I need to place the truck on a flat surface.
@martinbuilt3 жыл бұрын
not necessarily, maybe check the level on the transmission. If you have the motor mounts installed they could be hanging up on the motor mount brackets.

Pretty sure the dodge viper has the same lug pattern. I was looking at a set of wheels for my durango and came across a set of used 18x10.50 viper wheels and said they had 6x114 lug pattern
@martinbuilt3 жыл бұрын
Yes that is correct, 18" wheel would be as big as I'd ever wanna go on my Dakota but I do believe the Viper wheels are staggered where the fronts are narrower than the rears and I wouldn't want to do that with the 4wd that I'm looking to make all wheel drive.
@allensnook77603 жыл бұрын
Wont that be the wheel bolt pattern on the wj.i ran into same issue and had to run spacers that changed 4×1/2 to 5×5.
@allensnook77603 жыл бұрын
I had the 4×1/2 on my 98zj and it rusted out so then i bought wj to replace.but liked my wheels.yeah e-bay and amazon only gives one dimension look n never much stats on parts so ive bought stuff only to return immediately sorry u had a bad day martin.snooky pa.

The JGC WJ has a 5 lug 5 inch or 127mm. The chrome Mopar wheels have a 5 lug 5.5 inch or 139.7mm. I'm glad I finally found a good-looking, easy-to-clean wheel for the Dakota.

Hey martin. Off topic question. Will the stock retainers and keepers work with the comp beehive valve springs you mentioned in an old video of your jeep?

@@Artlopez105 as long as the engine is parallel to the truck you shouldn't have too many problem.

Nothing looks better than steelies on a truck / jeep imo. Picked up a set of TM9's with 3.75 bs from 4wheelparts for my xj little bit heavier than the stock alloys but looks sooooo much better. You gonna drop that built HO in the Dakota?
@martinbuilt3 жыл бұрын
I almost had another HO engine for the Dakota but, I pulled the head at Pic-a-Part and found that it had dropped a valve set and destroyed the piston and cylinder head.
@JohnSmith-ot9sc3 жыл бұрын
@@martinbuilt LOL it's funny you say that I literally just left my local scrap yard and saw a 04 GC with an HO someone cannibalize for the cams it truly hurt my heart 😞. Scored a NP 231 with an SYE & front drive shaft hopefully it's not too out of balance 😀

Nissan frontier has same pattern. Sometimes that give more results. I'm putting AR931 on my Dakota. Black 6 spoke. There are a couple other options for 6 spoke that escape me though. Love your content Martin. Keep it up!

Personally, I don't care for the blue lug nuts, but do like the overall look... think that I'd look into the repurposing of some oversized mudders for the fender flares, but I am more interested in off-road driving than looking citified, lol. Have you seen the repurposed fender flares made of used tires?
