Ha Ha ! YES -- I managed to get the test film out after all -- I did a 'Manual Rewind' by pressing the very small button near bottom of base-plate. i DID test the method of opening camera back with the three finger method' BUT on the Video it didn't work !

I just purchased this one with a 75/300mm lens at the thriftstore. I’m stunned by all the options this camera has. Excited to shoot with it

I have the “Maxxum” 5 as they are called here in the states. Great camera and the lenses are compatible with current Sony a7 cameras with the Laea-4. The 50mm 1.7 is a great bargain as well.

I have this camera and I almost never use the autofocus as it either never focuses on what I want or has trouble focusing on anything. Also I've read that the glue used in the viewfinder will give it an orange to purple tint if it isn't often exposed to UV light. That's what happened to mine after it sat on the shelf for a few years. I've never thought of using the flash in daylight, thanks for sharing that.

Nice one Peter, it’s so sad to reflect that these cameras today are largely shunned by the modern film crowd, as reflected by the value the collectors place on them nowadays. It is possible to pick up Dynaxes with lens systems for almost pocket change today. I like them though and will always have at least one (7000i) in my current collection.
@danem22152 жыл бұрын
Agreed. I have a dozen Minoltas, and the Maxxum/Dynax 5 is my favorite. It's especially good for newcomers who are used to DSLRs. I like it for the 99% guaranteed results I don't get from manual cameras thanks to my own incompetence

I have one fully functional Maxxum 7000. I’m saddened that Minolta never kept up something that simple in the lineup.
@SomeUnremarkableGuy Жыл бұрын
@@juancastellon7183 I have 7000i and 7xi, and agree with you. I somehow prefer 7000i its somehow easier to control. When I switch to 7xi from 7000i it feels I need to re-learn again how some buttons works. 7000 is even better when it comes to these things.

I think these are very innovative cameras, they are computerized. If they sold back in the late 60s they would cost a lot of money. Really nice video and thanks for showing the sharpness of the lens. Looking forward to using a Dynax.

Are there anything negatives about having plastic lens mounts? If so what do you think if these could be replaced with the metal ones?
@theoldfilmbloke Жыл бұрын
If camera has only 'Amateur Use; then Plastic lens mount OK but if 'PROFESSIONAL Use' NO !

Hi Peter what are you thoughts on the Dynax 5? I've just grabbed one with 28-80 AF Zoom Camera + MINOLTA AF Zoom Lens 75 - 300mm for like £40
@theoldfilmbloke Жыл бұрын
i like mine as it has 1/125th Flash Synch where the others have 1/90th and I use a lot of flash outdoors for 'Fill -in' . I used only ONE 'Custom Setting', the one where Camera leaves out film leader on rewind. That 28-80mm lens is SHARP !

I would have difficulty remembering all that in that moment of taking a picture, so I leave the camera on Program unless I am using old film and need to change the ISO to compensate for the age of the film. Thank you for the enlightment 😁 cheers.

These later Dynax 404si 505si 4 and 5 are cheaply made the pebtamirrors get a bloom on them which causes the veiwfinder to have either a yellow or blue haze over the focus screen

Shoot film like a boss directed me to your channel. Good stuff. I have a Minolta Maxxum 9...it has everything and is a bloody beast of a camera. I'm surprised isn't doesn't talk to you. I don't use it much but everytime I do, I end up wonderimg why I don't? Go figure... I just usually grab my Nikon F eyelevel prism (no meter) and the 55 f3.5 micro and have at it. I am a simple man I guess... nothing worse than having a dead battery and no spares with you...
