I really like the grinder. Very solid build. Flawless finish. Love how the handle locks to the top with a push button. Only gripe I have is it only holds 20 grams of coffee at a time. The company told me they extensively tested it and it can hold 30 to 35. Ive tried every bean I have and it holds 20 if you crush the lid on. Anyone getting more than 20 in it. One of the reasons I got this one was to grind 30 for my aeropress. No luck. And 20 once ground fills the catch cup right to the top.

Without much context, and assuming they weren't lying, my guess is that you're using darker roasts? IIRC, I lost about 10g of capacity in my Porelex tall when I was lifted a dark roast as compared to the very light roasts that I normally go for.

3:46 "I already set the grind thing" Drat, I was hoping you could show me how to set the grind for drip coffee maker and pour over. I've read the included booklet and online instructions, but evidently I'm thick-headed can't make sense of it. From totally flush, how many turns for drip coffee maker and how many turns for pour over?

Discovered a hack for the AeroPress. For inverted the method. I use just rubber disk without the Plastic plunger. When it's time flip it over I use the VSSL Grinder as the plunger. The AeroPress and VSSL Grinder work and nest perfectly for travel and storage. "Bonus Discovery" improved stability when brewing inverted. AeroPress sits lower and flush with the counter, no leaks.

Hi, can anyone tell me if the "VSSL JAVA" will nest inside the "Aeropress" plunger space for compact storage and or travel??

Measure your aeropres. And compare with this -> Dimensions: 6" x 2" Dia (from vsslgear page)

@@laddaevoltaIt doesn't fit the the plunger cavity. But, I've discovered that you can just use the rubber disk without the Plastic plunger and use the VSSL Grinder as the plunger. Using that method the AeroPress and VSSL Grinder nest nicely. Thx for the advice.

Have you had any issues with the handle collapsing while grinding?
@AlrixaАй бұрын
I have, if still useful. And I think it is a matter of the amount of the strength and the regularity of movement that you put on. Dark roast grains are easier to crush.

So the handle knob comes off and you have to keep track of two items? It would be better if the know was somehow incorporated.

What are the 50 settings? Mine shows 1-8 with half stops in between each number. I'm trying to find a number chart somewhere.

What kind of burrs are "sheet"? I have only heard of flat burrs, conical burrs, and block burrs.

The whole idea of letting something hang off your backpack is so odd to me.. I have a lot of backpacking experience and myself, nor any of my friends hang excessive shit on the outside of our packs.

Tons of backpackers hang water and various odds and ends off their backpack. I wouldn't want this for backpacking because it's heavy and fairly large. I just deal with my junk GSI Java Mill. Small, light, and useable for anything that's not super fine
