You are spot on in regards to the hall. It took us forever to find and customize the environment to be more upfront and defined, while also get it more ambient and wider.

The space is everything particularly with brass and strings. Sounds great!

Your library reviews are awesome, not for the libraries but the amount of things we learn just by you doing it. Only use 2 horns when playing triads! I needed to know that! Thanks!!

HA! Try solo trombone for big open chords - it sounds so much better than ensemble

With the updated bundle price of $148 it's great value for money. It's now on its way to Soundpaint which I plan to get the whole collection (got the trumpet for now and am very happy with it).

I've got these and must say that other than the load times (ugh!), I prefer them to any of my other brass libraries, which include a number of Spitfire Audio libraries as well as Cinematic Studio Brass and others.

You can get away with layering brass. Tune the sample on one of the instruments 3 semitones up, and transpose it back down 3 semitones. this makes it use a different sample which can sound like a different instrument. I use this method to get BBCSO to have a horns a2

Where is the setting to tune it up (or down) without using transpose?

Guy, You really need to do a video on why you switched from DP to Cubase comparing the two and showing what was better etc. Would be helpful.

8DIO orchestral libraries have always impressed me with their depth and realism. They always seem to be forward thinking and easy to use - I just always seem to get great results, even to the point of being surprising and fresh. Even the older ADAGIO libraries are still incredible

I'd think that if it's too bright and harsh, it's easy enough to go behind the scenes and add some EQ to your taste.
@ThinkSpaceEducation
@ThinkSpaceEducation 6 жыл бұрын
Absolutely - its not too bright at all but it tends towards a louder brighter character compared to some other libraries

I like the 8Dio brass here in this demo. And since I do quite a number of trailers, it may well fit in nicely. A couple of Brass libraries come to mind that I go to. Either as solo instances or combined with other libraries. One is Chris Hein Orchestral Brass Complete. (they make a light version too). Spitfire, Symphonic Brass. Spitfire BML Bone Phalanx. And finally, Berlin Brass. The other two I got recently that combine well with all the above is Cine Brass Twelve Horn Ensemble. And a new library from Audio Imperia called "Jaeger".

Not at all - I really liked this library - doesn't have any weak spots really. It's technically very accomplished and it's all about what overall sound you are looking for

Have you revisited this library since their 2.0 update? It seems like they addressed a number of thoughts generally mentioned here: the "in place" seating, individual articulation patches, among some other things. I'd be curious what you thought if you've had a chance to give it a second go.

Nice review! 👍 One question: How do you think Cinebrass (Core and/or Pro) compares with this library - apart from the obvious fact that Century has way more articulations?
@guym1428
@guym1428 6 жыл бұрын
Cinebrass is arguably the nicest sound of all - it has that Michael Giacchino - in the room sound that you get from the Sony stage.,...BUT as you say there just aren't enough articulations to compete. Technically its quite an old library now. You can get great results particularly if you use all Cinesamples products together.

Damn my second guess was right then, thank you. :) I should know that Bossendorfers looks heavier and more massive than Bechstains. BTW Rubinstein preferred Bechstain over others gp's. Cheers.

Guy...I have this library, but was a bit disappointed in the rips. I was expecting them to have actual note articulations, but instead they're slides up...is this common for rips on brass? And why are there no rips for trumpets?

Ive been on Cubase for a while now. It is more efficient in terms of CPU, has a load of really good features for very large templates and runs perfectly on a PC as well so I have that option.

i am not sure. I worked in cubase 5 - sx - 8.5 ) In Motu I like the way a large template looks visually. In the cubase all "floats" before the eyes) but in Motu midi the editor looks awful.
