Wow. Today, I visited an Air Raid Shelter Café and Tearoom in High Wycombe. Easily one of the most picture-esque food reviews I've ever done and I'm not talking about the food for change, the scenery of this place is absolutely incredible. Please take a look!

Gosh, what a great dose of nostalgia or a history lesson for those who are younger. Loved the sandbags and the taped up windows. And no effort spared inside to make it look and feel authentially WW2, short of an air raid! I loved the wall honouring service people too. I'm going to have to pay this a visit! Also no rationing, which was the biggest bonus! And the breakfast looked fresh and tasty. All around smashing for a novelty meal. I loved it. The prices were great. Maybe It's a little bit run of the mill, but for effort, detail and heart and soul, it's got to be a 10 out of 10 from me.

As a bit of a WWII buff, this place is right up my street! The amount of thought, time and effort the owners must have put into acquiring all those artefacts and trinkets must be staggering. Sometimes when you first enter a restaurant or cafe, I immediately hope it's going to be good, and this place is a prime example! I'm so pleased you give it a good score, it would have been a tradegy if the food had been a let down. One very small correction, and I'm not being a smartass here, but that Messerschmitt was actually a Focke Wulf 190. I know I'm being petty, and it isn't even important, the Americans never could tell their aircraft apart either, much more serious as they were manning anti-aircraft guns at the time... And finally, what am I going to give it..? You know what, I'm giving it a ten out of ten. This is a place I would definitely make a point of visiting, indeed I would be almost tempted to fly to England from Northern Ireland, just to do just that! A truly excellent video of a most remarkable establishment, thanks so much for bringing it to my attention.

For authenticity fried bread instead of hash browns, jam in a pot (not those awful plastic tubs) and spam to replace the bacon. I am a war baby and that was our weekend treat breakfast with our one 'black market' weekly egg ! The cream was made from dried milk and Echo margarine was our bread spread.

We were there a few weeks back as we'd gone to The Hell Fire Caves.....absolutely loved it..... Reminded me of my parents, Mum.grew up in Ireland during the war born 1936, Dad, born 1921, was a Burma veteran former Chindit.....& my husband is into Military history so a win win..... We both had the breakfast as did our 16 year old but minus the beans as she hates them......the service is excellent and the people who run it are so friendly and accommodating.... When we were in it was quite busy but that didn't detract from the service, spot on. Definitely one to go back to next time we are out that way. Good 9/10 score Gary......excellent review and very fair.

Not true. they are equally as good cooked under a grill right next to the bacon you are grilling, which is alongside the tomatoes you are also grilling. Under a grill you can cook everything apart from frying the egg. I have an Air fryer, they have their uses for sure, but they are over rated and take twice as long and are shit when it comes to cooking multiple items no matter how big the draw is, for say erm a family of 5.

I remember the 1930's restaurant review you did and at the time I thought it could not be beat. But following on the theme, this 1940's place looks even better and more reminiscent of the war years than the 1930's. All that food looked amazing! The breakfast looked perfectly cooked with lovely yolky eggs. Vine tomatoes on a breakfast seemed a bit unusual but there is certainly nothing wrong with it. And the ham, egg and chips is one of my favourite quick and easy meals, the only thing missing was a big slice of bread to mop up the egg yolk. WOW! What an amazing place. As far as breakfasts are concerned, there is nothing wrong with a Full English, especially when they are done as well as this. But nothing beats an Irish breakfast with white pudding and soda bread!♥ A score of 9/10 was well deserved here. I totally agree with supporting places like this! These places are fully of heart, sole and real effort. Whereas the multi-national corporate chains are just lifeless.

WOW!!! What a wonderful experience Gary. The whole set-up was amazing and the 1940’s music in the background was perfect. On the food--the Tommy’s breakfast was delightful, lovely platter. Ham, egg and chips 👌. That scone and clotted cream, first class. Thank you so much for sharing this experience with us Gary. Certainly cheered me up. Set me up for our forthcoming Easter. Have a blessed time as well 👍💎👍💎👍
