That looked very nice, Gary. I wasn’t sure you’d enjoy it but I’m glad you did. I do love a good burger here and there. Oh, that portion of Fries was absolutely huge. Especially for a small. Maybe they made a mistake and give you 2 portions. Either way, it’s never a bad thing to get more then you usually would expect. I agree, a bit pricey but it is what it is and I think if you don’t eat out much, it’s a reasonable treat. Especially for the high quality. I’ve not tried five guys yet but you convinced me to give it a try. And hope you feeling better soon, mate. 👍

I love seeing fast food places getting reviewed because I never visit them. I used to stop at Maccas for the barista made coffee now and then, but they have even managed to ruin that seems to have reduced the coffee to milk ratio to increase profit and use cheaper beans. Tastes terrible! I haven't bought fast food for over 5 years I think.

Take a break and get well. The main reason I (and I suspect most people) are enjoying your content is because its real, its easy going and it's very easy to relate to. Whatever you do dont fall into the "content creator" trap. I know I for one would rather you took it a bit easier and didnt burn out than run yourself into the ground for the "algorithms". Do it for the love of it and the passion of it, because that's why we like it. We will still be here waiting for the next opportunity to "give it a go", even it that's another week or so!

The thing about Five Guys is if they were decorated more like a chain restaurant or pub, with a closed kitchen, you had to wait 20mins for a burger and it came served on a plate nobody would question the price at all - they’d think it was amazing value. I think the decor is what skews a lot of people’s expectations, it Is a fast food place at the end of the day, just a very high quality one.

Went to 5 Guys once in the city, worked in Manhattan. I really loved it, burger, one price and all the toppings you care to add. Saw the fresh beef being shaped and cooked. Fries were lovely but the topper for me was they had Malt Vinegar, a very rare condiment in the US. Also they have bags of monkey nuts for free to eat while you are waiting.

I’ve installed ice machines in various Five Guys and we often get a free meal afterwards which is vey much appreciated as the burgers & fries are absolutely delicious. By far the best burgers I’ve had and when you consider how much meat you get compared to Madge or BK they are actually good value too👌🏻

Great review Gary, love your channel. After you raved about that burger I headed straight for Five Guys, only a couple of hundred metres from where I live in Melbourne Australia. Never been in there before and probably never would have but for you. The place was insanely busy with a queue back to the entrance door, but their efficiency was amazing and my order was taken and meal prepared and served in only a few minutes. I ordered the bacon and cheese burger with all the usual toppings (but not mushrooms), small Cajun fries and a chocolate milkshake. Best fast food meal I've ever had and at $39.90 also the most expensive. Never mind, it was worth every cent. All ingredients are locally grown Australian produce, the best in the world. For mine I give it a perfect 10. Before leaving, I excitedly congratulated the manager and staff. We have two other Five Guys, located in Sydney and Penrith NSW. Fantastic!

(123) Peanut oil is the key to giving anything a good finish when you deep-fry something; it has quite a high "smoke point". I have never had a Five Guys burger, and they are not cheap. But then again, the folk I've talked to who have had them say they are worth the money. Quite pleased that you enjoyed it so much. Thanks for the upload, Gary!!! Always a treat. 😃

Hi Gary, Glad you enjoyed Five Guys, it was sooner than you predicted. Their fries sizes are a portion plus extra every time, By the counter area there's normally a sign signifying what potatoes they're using and who supplied them at that present time. 55lbs bags of potatoes are delivered to the restaurant, washed, then chipped and fried. As a British Pipefitter Plumber working in the USA, I put in the plumbing and get running 2 5 guys' restaurants in Idaho USA, I actually Met 4 of the 5 guys And a mother ( who absolutely loves the UK ), At this point they didn't do Milkshakes When asked what I thought of the free burgers We got on pre-opening Day staff training, I said It would be nice If I could get a milkshake, and they introduced them shortly After, One Guy is responsibly for the building of All 5 guys restaurants, So impressed With our problem solving and getting our stuff ahead of schedule He Gave us 5 guys hats and I could get a free burger or Fries When ever I wanted one for a month

I don't often eat burgers, but I do treat myself to a Five Guys occasionally. As well as being incredibly tasty, I like the fact that Five Guys burgers stay hot and stay in one piece. I don't like burger sandwiches that fall apart or are too 'wet', or ones that are full of cold salad ingredients that quickly make your burger cold! For me, I like my Five Guys burger with cheese, fried onions, mushrooms, ketchup and mustard. No bacon where I live, unfortunately!

I went there for lunch a couple of times this week, and I just got a baconburger with a drink, no fries. $5 for a cup of fries is steep, but the burger and a drink isn't bad and fills me up like a decent lunch. I just grab a bunch of peanuts for a side dish, which are free, which I snack on while waiting on the burger. When I go there with my girlfriend, I get the regular fries, since they give you a real mound of them, and split them with her. $5 for the regular fries is a small mountain, so it's plenty for two.

Had my first Five Guys many years ago in the US, couldn’t believe it when they opened stores in the UK. Definitely the best fast food chain for burgers and fries currently in the UK. I really hope SmashBurger can also follow and open in the UK as their burgers are even better.

Five Guys always throw in an extra large scoop of fries into your bag on top of what portion you’ve ordered so you think you’re getting really good value for your money, however it’s still factored into the prices regardless of what size you buy. It’s on the expensive side compared to other fast food places but the quality is well above others IMO. I don’t go there very often I see it more as a treat when I fancy a good burger.

I love Five Guys. Was introduced to them when visiting my friend in the USA. About a year later the first one opened about 40 minutes from me here in the UK, so I was happy! There are two closer by now, but they've always been a little pricy, so I don't go often, maybe once or twice a year. The fries thing: When put the fries in the bag it is policy to then dump another load into the bag. I guess they continue to do this if serving on a tray now! It surprised me the first time I went. I was flabbergasted by the sheer amount you get and did not expect the UK outlets to do the same, but they do! All in all, yes you pay for it, but I've never been able to finish my fries. I always eat the burger to ensure that doesn't go to waste, but can never finish all my fries. So you definitely get your monies worth.

Of all the times I have gone to 5 Guys, they have NEVER served the food up on a silver tray, with the chips in a metal cup. It's all in a bag, with the portions being smaller due to shrinkflation, and increased prices. This is all pomp and ceremony for the video.

I used to drive the owner of a small group of companies and his guests to Royal Ascot week, plus other one day jaunts for several years. One of his main agricultural produce companies supplied meat to Five Guys when it started here. I'm sure it was New Zealand beef, and around that time and later he started to fly to Kiwi - land (?) virtually every month by himself. I think it was a way of unwinding for him, plus it was a quick train ride to Heathrow for him from Little Venice. Ive never been to a Five Guys. St Martins Lane / Long Acre corner was the first one I think. In more recent years I thought they probably went down market, as they seemed to be on every corner and the fast food decor would not invite someone in, imv. Glad to see here that the food quality and service hasn't dropped then. OT: I used to go to the Odeon cinemas upstairs there regularly for a long time. Nice, helpful review 👍

My Five Guys orders: 1. Regular burger with raw onions, mayo, tomato and lettuce, with little fries (to share with dining companion), and a 22ozs root beer (or Grape Fanta). OR… 2. Regular burger with raw onions, pickles, lettuce, tomato, mayo and bbq sauce, with same fries/drink.

The potatoes for the fries are also locally sourced. They usually have a poster up telling you what farm todays potatoes are from. Super cool.

I like them but spending £16+ on a burger and fries in a fast food style restaurant just jars with me. Hache in Kingston do a really good burger and you get to sit in a more stylish restaurant right by the river with table service, wine, beer etc

It’s good to see the quality of Five Guys burgers has travelled well to England from America. I’ve seen the comments in the size of the portion of fries. In every Five Guys I’ve been to in many parts of America, they throw extra fries into bag. It always seems like a double size. So Gary got the real deal here.

As others say no need to apologise and I for one love your views on fast food places. I like five guys every 6 months or so, their burgers are spot on and one portion of chips does two or three of us. It’s not cheap but I love the options for their burgers. I may need to give one of their hot dogs a go next time.

Absolutely the best burgers in the UK. First discovered 5 Guys on a trip to Canada and was apprehensive when they came to the UK it would maintain the quality. Very, very pleased. You don't mind paying for something if you're actually getting a quality product. Lie all fast food, should be considered a treat, but what a treat!

What everyone forgets is that there is no money spent for advertising. All the money goes into the product. Its been less than 20 years in growth from the original 5 stores. Franchising unfortunately adds cost to the bill. And there are a handful (very few) of franchisees who are hurting the brand overall.

The only problem with 5 Guys is their pricing. And it is a bit on the greasy side. We have them in California and they do pretty well. But nothing like the line you get at In N Out which taste fresher and offer much more bang for the buck.

it isnt possible to taste fresher five guys has no freezers and in and out burger is smaller then five guys. one reiver i seen said he ate in an and out and was still hungry. You dont leave five guys still hungry

I love five guys. Stumbled on it a few years ago by accident and always enjoy it. Its not somewhere i go all the time as its pricey but they never let you down with the quality. Hope you are feeling better Gary.

Hello Gary! I am a USA fan. I happen to work in the vicinity of the original DC area Five Guys and have eaten at a few of them before they were franchised. The ones in the USA in the greater DC, Maryland, Virginia area post-expansion are generally quite good. They are far more expensive than McD etc. But, quality costs money. The ginormous fries are a tradition. A regular is good for a group of 2 or 3. A large is good for a group of large men!

I left out a bit. In the Maryland environs, fries are often served with malt vinegar (like a chip shop) and a blue crab seasoning called "Old Bay". These are both commonly available at USA Five Guys locations.

Another point is that the USA locations have rosted peanuts in the shell free to snack on while waiting for your food. The signage about potential food allegies is quite prominant. But, it has always been someting my frineds and I enjoyed about Five Guys.

FYI Five Guys pump their used cooking oil into a 1000 litre IBC, it is then collected by a used cooking oil company who pump it into their truck , this is an unusual way of discarding used cooking oil , the central London ones can fill this over a 3 day period over a bank holiday weekend or other busy times , apart from that it is a weekly collection , they change out the oil to new on a more frequent basis than any other eatery I am aware off , they are mega clean tbf to them (note I worked within the new and used oil industry for a decent while so know a lot about the London restaurants usage etc).
