Reviewing Sparkly Yarn For Amigurumi (one of these is the worst yarn yet)

I actually like Walmart’s mainstay sparkle yarn. It’s actually pretty soft. I love the taupe and the mauve, but unfortunately it’s very limited colors!

It seems to be that way across all the mainstay yarns. I haven’t tried their sparkle yarn yet though I thought about getting that for this video! Wish I would have instead of that stinky troyarn

Girl, thank you for taking one for the team with that Troyarn (I have no idea how to say that either! lol)! You’re right, it’s adorable, but wow, what a pain! I can’t believe how much the finished product shed! I don’t think I’ve seen that before. Eek! Great review! And you did great! I can relate to feeling more scattered when I have a lot I want to get done. 💕

I have never seen that either. Even chenille yarns I’m not that crazy about don’t have the finished product shedding like that. And thank you! I think I just work better with a regular schedule haha. Anything that throws that off hurts my brain!

17:03 the Clover Hooks look soo similar to the Hobbii Hooks. Most of them even have the same color per size. Interesting.

I noticed that. They also have a set that looks just like ones from Hobby Lobby. I wonder if they get them from the same manufacturer and just put their name on it. I’m not sure.

@Tfwcrochet Made in China often means it's the same manufacturer just putting different brand names on the hooks. I have never seen a video of anyone trying to find out in a video. 🤔

I don't know if you figured out the mosquitos, I've used tiki torches and had good luck I also believe they hate peppermint so planting it keeps bugs out of your home and what not especially planted by the door. KEEP IT CONTAINED! It will grow like WEEDS so be aware. Hope it helped!

@@Tfwcrochet Marigold, bee balm, sweet basil, catmint, lemon grass, floss flower, sage, and allium are all plants that can discourage mosquitos, but you’d need to crush their leaves while you were outside and apply the crushed leaves on your skin as an oil repellant. The smell alone does very little. What you can do, if the citronella candles don’t work for you (and they’re very hit or miss), is set up some outdoor fans in the area you sit. They can be directed on you or around you, but they should keep the skeeters from being able to get you - they don’t fly well in high wind.

I have not used Bernat Blanket yarn yet. I like thinner chenille yarn. The only ones i have used is Go Handmade from Hobbii, i think, and Premier Parfait Chunky. I have to say that the Premier Parfait Chunky can be pretty frustrating with the shedding that occurs when making a magic ring, when sewing in the ends and especially when frogging. Thank you for the yarn review. 😊

Great video! I like when people describe how yarn feels even if its likely the viewer has heard it already. Ive never crocheted with bernat (ive felt it in person tho) but i definitely feel like ik how it feels to crochet with bc of the descriptions. i want to try it eventually but that means having to invest in another yarn brand pretty much

I’m glad you like the descriptions! Bernat can be hit or miss for me but I think it’s worth trying out especially when it goes on sale!

Premier yarn has an iridescent thread you might want to check out. You just add it to whatever yarn you want to add sparkle to. I’m buying some. Right now it’s $2.64 a spool of 1093 yards.

I might have gotten a bad batch, but ive tried Juicy Couture Sparkle yarn once and oh my gosh is shed its 'glitter' EVERYWHERE and the little oiece of glitter? Tinsel? Whatever irritated my fingers as i used it. Like it was little tiny needles. I hated it

I don't know how Troyarn wants you to pronounce it, but I would probably pronounce it like 'Trojan' as in with emphasis on 'tro' not the 'yarn' 😁 But who knows 🤷
