Excellent review! I have this same brush in a .2mm and spray with it all the time. As you mentioned, the parts aren't the best quality, but for $16 bucks you can't go wrong. The trigger action is amazingly good and becomes smoother over time. I'm glad to see you recommended the quick connects as they make it so quick and easy to change brushes.

I’ve been building scale models & miniatures for years. I’ve got multiple Badgers and just recently found the PointZero brand. While I’m very fond of the Badgers, I’m loving the PZ’s. I’ve purchased five, around $20-25 range, of different styles so far. Ones with different needle sizes and cup sizes. I use one for primer, one for clears, one for metallics, one for blacks, one for whites, and one for other colors. I’ll be buying more as with a good cleaning/polish of the needle, waxing seals and changing the hose connector, I too have found they spray great.

Thank you for the video!!! I feel better about buying a couple of these. I'm just starting out with airbrushing. I went with the $21 sets that came with 3 needle sizes and male/female quick connect. Thank you again for your videos!!!

I found them a few years ago. Airbrush for a living myself and they are great all-around brushes with very low entry point/repair cost. They are not as well made as Iwata but you can break about 15 of these to ONE Iwata.Great video.

I'm not being facetious, but as a European, I really, really appreciate that you're using metric units. Very helpful 🎉

Harbor freight sells a cheap $10 single action airbrush and it’s absolutely wonderful for spraying clears and primers

@@theartworkshop if you do pick one up and it seems like it’s not working very well make sure the cap on the jar is actually fully closed and is tight. Took me an embarrassing amount of time to troubleshoot that issue when I first used it.

What airbrush would you recommend for painting with silicone paints, I'm really looking for an airbrush that would help me spray realistic skin tones for props, mask and prosthetics
@theartworkshop
@theartworkshop 2 жыл бұрын
I don't know anything about silicone paints. But for general use, the Iwata eclipse or the badger patriot 105 are both great choices.

Do you think it is worth it for a newbee spending extra for the version of this with the MAC?
@theartworkshop
@theartworkshop 2 жыл бұрын
I really don't like MAC valves. I think they are pointless. They look cool but don't add anything for me.

The problem with cheap airbrushes is poor or non existent quality control during manufacturing and assembly stage. This results in extreme inconsistency, from the same production series you can get an airbrush that performs just as well as branded one, and other next to it that falls apart in your hand. A gamble :)

i dont understand the opposite, how can the same amount of metal (roughly) cost 20x as much?

Better design for better usability. More precision in the parts?
@megaflux7144
@megaflux7144 2 жыл бұрын
@@BoltRM the designs are basically the same, the precision in the parts could be valid IF they were using titanium instead of iron or something but thats one hell of a mark up. lets keep in mind that making a mold shouldnt cost more than making a mold of the same thing and programming a machine is programming a machine regardless of it doing a rough cut or a precision one. so again.. 20x more? im pretty sure they arent hiring artisan blacksmiths to fold the metal 900 times or anything like that.

Having an Iwata Hp ch I was dubious about the performance of these Fengda products - spoiler alert - they perform as well - Iwata have taken the piss on pricing for years - now when these superb low cost products are available they have responded by increasing their prices. An airbrush is a simple mechanism - nothing that warrants the inflated Iwata and Steenbech prices. But I am sure the fan boys will disagree,

All you poo, pooers, out there consider this, you CANT go to your shop and produce a Airbrush for under $18! I’m just a hacker, I paint Fishing Lures, I’m very cheap, when I started painting lures I bought 2 Paasche Talons, $70 for the kit that had 2 extra needle/nozzle in .25mm and .66mm and the hoses and tools! The Talons performance for me was outstanding and extra parts were very reasonable! I wanted a detail airbrush with a .2mm nozzle, like I said, I’m cheap, so I found a POINTZERO with a .2mm nozzle, 2cc cup, MAC valve ( witch I find useless) all metal construction and absolutely built like a tank, removed it from the box, polished the needle (I always polish my needles) lubed up the airbrush and started using it, I used it a lot, it became my go to airbrush for 90% of my painting! All this for under $25! I ended up buying 5 more, I turned two into a .3mm and 5mm, I love the small 2cc cup, less waste in cleaner and paint, and because of a small paint chamber they are very easy to clean out! A few days ago I received 2 of the same Airbrush’s with the bigger cup, 7cc I believe, and extra nozzle/needle in .2 and .3mm, I haven’t done anything with them yet. Did I need them, NO, I just want to do a review on them, why? Because one should not have to spend big dollars on equipment that’s not needed. Beginners will do just fine with a cheap airbrush, most airbrush problems are with paint that’s wrong for the nozzle size, and really not knowing what the correct paint to use in the first place! 99% of airbrush problems are with, wrong nozzle size, type of paint, wrong air presser!
