I somehow convinced both my siblings to watch the first movie with me by explaining that it’s the least gorey of them all. The LOOKS from their faces due to Adam's backtalk to Gordon, of confusion are moments I'll always treasure.
@nathanielfishburn9676 Жыл бұрын
What they never did with the sequels was make the traps true puzzles like the original bathroom trap, and instead repeat variations of the SAW III setup: free roaming character tries to get a cast of characters out of their (often impossible) traps. The bathroom trap was special because it offered multiple solutions/outcomes, but it was up to the characters HOW to play it.
@ChillDree Жыл бұрын
I can definitely say after Saw 3, that’s when I can say in terms of the trap they became so gory to the point my young eyes almost couldn’t handle it at times as a kid going into middle school but I can agree the first two are amazing and probably my favorites of all the movies

It's so wild to me to see how different people have different opinions on the Saw movies depending on what their favorite bits are. For me, I love the dichotomy of Amanda and John as foils SO much, that Saw 3, for me, is one of my favorites. Amanda is such a rich and deep character, she has so much inner turmoil going on that guides her decisions and seeing how tragic of a character she is IS very important for the Saw franchise. Jigsaw's ideology isn't supposed to be correct and Amanda's whole existence and relationship to John is a testament to that. I could get into the nitty gritty of why I love Amanda and John so much and how extremely interesting I find their whole relationship, but the point is, it made me love Saw 3 and absolutely ADORE Saw X. My ranking of the movies probably goes, from favorite to least favorite (not including Jigsaw or Spiral)... X, III, VI = II, I, V, IV....... then waaaaaaaay further down at the end, VII lol

I am so excited to see your review and thoughts of the “second trilogy”! (Saw 4-6). 🙂 It is so underrated and not as respected as the first 3, but I still think it is SUCH an amazing creation and shines a lot in certain many aspects! 🙂 Saw 6 is my favorite film of the series. I love how the 2nd trilogy introduces the “detective team” of Strahm, Perez, and Hoffman, and backstories like Jill, Jigsaw’s miscarriage, and other people connected to John were explored.

I was the perfect age when Saw came out; 12. Young enough to be scared shitless and immersed. Old enough to get it and think about it a little deeper. Back then and at the time, super groundbreaking and awesome. It actually felt like my generation got our own star in John Kramer. Nothing can change how cool that was, and is still. Such a timeless movie.

Detective Matthews was my favorite character in saw other then jigsaw himself. So determined,great acting,survive longer then most and did the whole first movie relatively quick by crushing his leg and snapping it back which as a kid I thought was badass as fuck. I wish they kept him alive. Also saw 1 has my favorite ending to a movie.
@NBAMalakai Жыл бұрын
I love how the original is honestly more psycological not showing him cutting his legs, it makes you think about it and its really effective. My favorite is saw 2, they really took everything to the next level in the sequel. I prefer the twist more in the sequel than in the first movie to whenever you find out that all he had to do was listen to jigsaw and he would have got his son back. Instead of just finding out that he was in the bathroom with them the whole time

I absolutely love the basic ideas and motivations of the killer, as well as just Jigsaw as a character and his modus operandi. I thoroughly enjoy all the movies, even the bad ones, and I gotta say, one thing I always appreciated about his franchise is that it has continuity, just like Scream. There are a few issues, specificslly in the newer movies, but it's not like Halloween or Friday the 13th, where every 2-3 movies everything gets retconned

I remember back when I saw it in a theatre the screen was completely black during the opening as we were hearing Adam struggling and dr. Gordon talking and then all of a sudden the lights came on. So I believe that's the reason why they had like screen dark. They didn't want us to see that the key had gone down the hole for it to ruin any of our experiences.

I absolutely love the Saw franchise. I also did like the 2017 Jigsaw. I like the idea of Logan Nelson taking the spot of Jigsaw and his whole idea of he speaking for the death and innocent victims. One thing I wish they had done is not killing off Tobin Bell’s character too soon. They should had keep him alive until the last chapter of Saw 7. Hopefully that after Saw X they continue the franchise somehow.

The saw 3 traps are partly made by Amanda That's why they are so weird, uncreative, brutal and unforgiving It is kinda part of her characters arc in this movie. And Jeff his daughter wasn't supposed to be another game It was more meant as a punishment for him that if he didn't learn his lesson He wouldn't just have walked away unharmed Cause by him killing jigsaw. He killed the man who could have saved his wife by unlocking her trap and giving him the location of his daughter whereabouts.
