Hi from Ontario Canada again, my Dad used to say 'had my ears lowered' and as kids we thought it was just silly Dad. Now I'd give anything to hear him say it again. Thanks for another fantastic video Gary. You make me think of all the places that he used to talk about and all the British food he loved. He was born in a London hospital that's no longer there and flew in the Royal air force in WW2 and settled in Canada. No matter where he went, England was his home. He'd be right here with me enjoying your wonderful sense of humour if he was still here. You do more than review food and restaurants. You make people happy. Cheers.

Yes, Gary finally indulges in our Jamaican delights. You need to go deffo go Sabina Park for a game as the vibe and atmosphere is insane. Advise if you go ever to Jamaica, please venture outside Montego Bay (tourist area) so you get to see the real life of Jamaica i.e Portland, St Thomas, Port Royal. The food never dissapoints. ps. You need to try Ackee & saltfish and patties (like cornish pasty).
@GaryEats6 ай бұрын
I definitely will and I will definitely 👍
@pippin1ful3 ай бұрын
Ackee and saltfish is great! I worked with many Jamaicans in South London, and a few are lifelong friends. I wish I had visited Jamaica. I would not have gone to Montego Bay. Should have taken Claire, but she had her man at the time, or Rastaman Jimbo. My late brother adopted him for a son. I've been to Barbados twice, and Antigua, but I'm too old to go back to the Caribbean to end my days!
@steveGrace-bm4si2 ай бұрын
I know its not related to the food, but my daughter worked for a Turtle Bay whilst at Uni and once a year (in Jan I think) they would close down for a couple of days and bus all their staff to central location and stay over for a party with paid for food/drinks all night. Some might say a drop in the ocean compared to their profits, but not a gesture every company would do, so glad to see them getting some support, any chain is probably not going to match a one off family restaurant, but I think they do a decent job at representing the food of the caribbean

Turtle Bay is not authentic Caribbean food :(. Definitely check out the smaller places for the real deal, affordable and bigger portions - A Caribbean person :)

Wow.. looks amazing, reminded me of when I used to work trains out of Clapham yard, bought back memories, thanks Gary … 👍🏻 .. there was a Caribbean takeaway cafe just outside there that made the most amazing goat curry … during our PNB (physical needs break) that was the place to go …. 😋

I do love your channel, you give great reviews, you and Greeno. Really polite but honest about it. Keep up the good work💗 and you remember us, your humble audience.

Firstly, really nice haircut Gary! Moving onto the review, I love the decor. The food looks great quality. I'd very much love the curry with chickpeas, I'm sure! I tried Caribbean food in the U.S. and hated it as there was sugar in everything (including where you wouldn't expect), but this sounds worth trying.

Top work as always Gary. We've been to that very restaurant a few times over the last year and the service, vibe and quality is consistently very good. The 2 for 1 on drinks is great too, especially for those who like their cocktails (or mocktails). If you's like some pointers on where to go next, have a look at Dorking and Reigate - plenty of choice and the latter especially is very foodie!

There used to be a really good Carribbean restaurant in Brighton. I had a really great goat curry a few years ago. I was shocked how good it was. Admittedly I only went for the spicy curried goat and rice. But there were a lot of items on the menu that looked tempting. The whole experience was Carribbean. From the decor, how the staff were dressed and the background music. You couldn't fault it. I actually went back to try their Doctor Fish meal, but there was no seats available that night.

Great review again. I was very lucky as a child back in the mid 60's. We grew up on a Road in SW London. Robinson Road. Irish, English, Jamaican, Indian, Italian, Pakistani, Spanish, Chinese. That has brought me back to those days. We were spoilt with different cuisines. Hence me following food reviews😂😂😂❤
