any% or how this category is called nowadays defeat ganon with this route was peak indeed. i love all zelda games, i love linkus' main ww but nothing compares to peak oot. the amazing game itself, trying to beat the game asap BUT without any really dumb skips that kill the adventure / gameplay and the amazing tricks that were discovered throughout the years like dot skip etc.

The subsequent optimizations of this route were wild. Jodenstone pulling 0.9 seconds out of his ass by learning to RTA tricks that were thought to be TAS only in run after run was sublime. What a time to be alive.

@@longdong3 my advice as a salaryman: try and "learn to love" the consistency of it. My advice as a millennial: LOCK IN for two years. At the end of year one, you are reviewing them as much as they are reviewing you. Don't be afraid to take the money and experience elsewhere for more money and more experience. Good luck out there!

Hi yt watchers! I reccomend watching the vod for this one just to see Linkus sigh so deeply about the 2024 era runs after he says "bye bye" Also, someone in chat asked about ww speedrunning and this man worldlessly plugs in his capture card to another console to boot up ww and show them. THATS MY STREAMER!!

I love this kind of speedrun tbh. While it isn't as engaging necessarily as a longer category, the amount of skill and just overall coolness of the content makes a huge difference and makes it so fun to learn about. I especially love how detailed you are during these kinds of vids because frankly I don't know anything about the specifics or even the terminology of most speedruns. And a lot of people like to use that terminology because it's second nature, and I don't blame them, but also having to struggle to figure out what BLJ and BLISS and whatnot actually stand for can be frustrating as a casual enjoyer of the art of speedrunning. Thanks for the vid, Linkus. I remember hearing about this back when it was originally found and how hype it was in the communities even as just a casual watcher. Definitely something I consider to be a staple and classic of speedrunning, this run.

Majoras mask all masks is my favorite zelda speedrun and it changed by like 25minutes (2:40 -> 2:15) in the past 10 years. And many glitches that are used nowadays were already known back then but people got called crazy for using them in a actual run due to how precise they are

Speedrunning has a bunch of different stages: raw speedruns -> glitches scouting (sooner or later a luck based one is involved) route application -> no more ways to get faster -> hit your head against the same route until you're lucky enough to get a record. The experimentation phase is usually the most enjoyable, but when experimenting more can't bring more results, the runs eventually get monotonous. The best part about speedruns is watching how much they can massacre a game to get faster, therefore things get worse when a single, expert difficulty glitch skips 3 or more fun to do maneuvers.

Pretty much, there's a reason why SM64 16 stars is more popular than 1 or 0 stars, for example, people want to see flashy stuff that shortens the game, not someone actually skipping 95% of the game

I honestly think that no wrong warps is my favourite type of speedrun, just because it feels like someone being really good at the game and doing glitches that feel obtainable and understandable. Wrong warps and code injection are cool, but it doesn't have the same feel. Totally get why they can be popular though, there is something to seeing a game get absolutely broken in half.

Everyone defaults to male pronouns for everything. With bugs, though, you should really default to female pronouns. The male bugs are rarely more than breeding stock and usually die immediately after. Almost every bug you've ever seen has been a girl.

Just from seeing your speedrun splits on the side, I know exactly the version you are doing. I think it is the most awesome version the Ocarina of Time speedruns. I so wanted to warp from Gohma to Ganon, but for whatever reason I just cannot nail the timing down as it is super precise and restarting to try again is so slow as I am on base N64 hardware. Thus, no save states.
@neo39925
@neo39925 4 күн бұрын
I can actually help with this, as I used to run this category before gohma door clip was discovered (WR was about 23 minutes iirc)! Are you getting a black screen when entering the basement room? Or are you just entering the basement room? The steps are more important than timing, timing isn't so strict. Make sure to do every step, the 'hold right, Z+Nuts+hold left, side hop only once, when in hallway load the warp a couple extra frames by 180ing the camera,' etc. Here's an old old video of me using a different setup (before I understood how previous "scenes" impacted wrongwarps lol), if you wanted to try that one instead: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qKPHl6muibBqkNk

this reminds me of a weird "any%" Speedrun of Majora's Mask i once saw: the player did the "deku loop" normally, then used a glitch to get to the Graveyard area near the Canyon early, then stood in a specific spot, did a bunch of backflips and side-hops, then played the Song of Time while wearing the Deku mask. that somehow "wrong warped" directly to the ending cutscene, where the Moon disintegrates!

I think the old stuff is cool, but good lord I'm sick of people yelling in the comment sections of every video talking about discovering ACE in a game that "THIS IS WHAT"S RUINING SPEEDRUNS! LOOK AT HOW IT COMPLETELY RUINED OOT!" ... most aren't all caps bad to be fair ... but only most. And the ones who make unsubstantiated claims like there is no OOT scene left because of it, or weirder stuff like how it made all the good viewers leave and attracted stupid annoying people to watch... Again, this isn't most ACE dislikers. but there are a few stinkers that insist OOT was ruined by doing the going faster thing that was the goal of speedrunning and I just don't really get it.

This stuff is also what got me interested in speedruns. And while I never tried to do a speedrun I did pick up these tricks to mess around and sequence break during a casual playthrough. Changing some stuff up each playthrough to keep rediscovering one of the most important games of my childhood =D. ACE on the other hand does not add anything to my casual playthoughs... it's also too complicated.

How the hell do people even FIND glitches like that? I know a lot of things are found via random chance, but the setup on things like that wrong warp and even the corner clip to escape the forest seems so precise you gotta wonder if people were actually chasing pixels - trying every single possible movement or camera angle with every possible item/button press until something happened. Which seems insane to me.
