Holy shit! I've been an MBTI enthusiast for like five years now but this video made me realise how much I totally misunderstood (and stereotyped) ESFPs, simply because their approach to life is so different (I'm an INTJ). There's a friend of mine I always struggled to type but now I realise he's an ESFP, despite being ridiculously intelligent, intellectual, philosophical and even restrained when he must be. ESFPs are misunderstood by the community, especially by intuitives. This is an old video, but thank you, Michael.

Agreed. I'm a divergent Ti-Ni ENFJ in CPT & my fiancé is an ESFP. Their intellect & philosophical nature is greatly downplayed; he very much is an ESFP on the ENTJ end of the spectrum & has a fully integrated Ni, which is the aim of all of us - to fully integrate all our functional pairings

I have a close friend whos INTJ and the compatibility is surprisingly high. Theres definitely a need for mutual respect as the INTJ is probably prone to not valuing ESFP insights due to a lack of rigor, but often comes around when the simple essence ended up being correct because it was coming from such a pure place.

The idea that ESFPs are highly represented in self-help resolves the problem I've had. I commonly get an impression of "Te-Se" from them, but I'd need to ignore some things to be really sure they're ENTJ. I think there are a lot of ESFPs I've mistyped.
@SabeloNada005 жыл бұрын
I had a problem typing ESFP`s too. Specially because there are not very well represented. I had some male ESFJ who can be very hyper and entertaining, but once you get to know them better, they don`t have the drive and strength the ESFP has, and specially the good Te that makes them have some sense. Oh, and a big way to differiantiate them is the ESFJ hates INTJs, while ESFP loves him.

I turned out to be ESFP after doing a vultology test. I definitely relate to everything here. I am very much someone who enjoys living life to the fullest and am in touch with sensual reality. I think being authentic and true to yourself is very important. I struggle a bit with relating to Te tbh, but definitely draw to Ni mysticism and spirituality.

For the ESFP Se-Te is the primary seat of the ego (basically manifesting your Ni-Fi through Se-Te actualisation) in CPT. You might actually be a lot better than you think you are 😊. @TransparentLabyrinth Жыл бұрын
The perception of the future is really interesting to me and I had a thought recently (for whatever it's worth) that the "Ni grip" people talk about in Se-doms is essentially when the Se type pushes Se into the unconscious by becoming too focused on the Ni trajectory and as a result, they temporarily are seeing reality as fixed rather than movable; something akin to fatalism. I've noticed this kind of behavior in misuse of Ni even in someone who I believe to be an ENTJ, where they would "see something coming" in a bad way from how a person was going to behave in the future and rather than trying to change the outcome, they would (probably without even realizing it) help make it happen instead. In this misuse of Ni, whether it's higher or lower in the stack, I think it can very much relate to perfectionism. This thing of "I am afraid of failing, so I am going to try to see failure coming first to outsmart it." But in doing so, this means your energies are focused on predicting outcomes rather than moving reality to influence outcomes, it means your ego investment is not in bringing about the outcome you desire, but in bringing about the outcome you have predicted so that you can best reality through getting there first rather than being beaten by perceived failure, and so you end up in a cycle of misery and even in more extreme cases, despair. This is not to imply that if a person is in such a cycle it is "their fault" (a bootstraps mentality that I think would be very destructive in healing from this) but rather that their psychological patterns are essentially working against them, rather than helping them. And to break free from it, they have to hit at the point where the aberration is, such as perfectionism.

This video solidified my belief that you are an INTP, Michael! I was surprised & happy on your comparison of ESFP and INTP and it was very informative as, being an INTP, I am looking forward to accept my ESFP girlfriend for life. And often I have experienced bewilderness in those moments with my girlfriend where I find her behaviour a little strange, often naive, with abundance of love & care towards me or people around her (and it oozes out from her unstoppably) and which is at times lovingly intrusive (which I like because it's coming from her). This video gave me more perspectives about ESFPs. And my bro an ENTJ or so I believe, so your comparisons of ESFP with ENTJ - and how their end objectives could be same but their approaches completely different - made the INTP in me more observant, analytical & speculative. Thanks ever so much so such deep analysis!

He's definitely an INFJ; for the INFJ in CPT you have to remember that Ni-Ti are the primary seat of the conscious ego especially in convergent subtypes & Ti is the INFJs agency function. It isn't the 3rd function it's designated to be in MBTI 😊

That's true. Many "intellectuals" found it very shallow and incorrect of me whenI told them, "Plato was a twonk." They woud tell me I am mistaken. I would tell them, "That's impossible. He's dead, you know?" because "was" versus "is", is all the possible objection I could fathom as having occurred. They assumed that I was saying that about Plato as I never looked into his work, or, that I tried and couldn't understand it. They were wrong. I have looked into it, I did understand it and that is precisely why I find him so very twonkesque. Though, I like the concept of platonic relationships.

Tony has developed most of his program on his personal experiences and of those around him. ESFP appreciate Ni and they use it (not as efficiently as they wish tough) to an extent so they apply the patterns they found after an experience in an efficient manner (Te) to other people`s situations. The difference, I think, is that ESFP takes a long time to mature in most cases, but Tony Robbins and Gary Vaynerchuk are a good example of healhty ESFPs.

Could you do a video comparing ENFP vs ESFP? Or at least help me explain the difference. Like, when you say that ESFPs like to jump passionately from idea to idea I get confused because I thought that as an ENFP thing...also in the ENFP revisited video you talked about how ENFPs want to travel and see the world, how they want to jump right in and love things...but isn’t that similar to the Se-Fi combination in ESFPs? As an ENFP myself, I can tell you that we’re often too busy thinking about how cool every idea would be to actually, well, actualize anything LOL. We have so much mental energy that rarely gets put into action until we develop our Te more (something I’m still working on at the age of 20) Like, what’s the difference in energy between Ne and Se in ENFPs and ESFPs. Isn’t one supposed to be more “mental” excitement while the other is more “physical”? I know as an ENFP I tend to get jealous of ESFPs for being able to just jump into things head first without overthinking everything. They don’t have the “Ne vomit” going on in their heads to stop them from running. Being an ENFP can kinda feel like you’re an AI that was given the ability to feel and love (kinda like mega man X lol). Probably because the ENFP is a hybrid type. But this makes me a little confused when you kinda imply that ESFPs and ENFPs are pretty similar, because I feel like our energies are being mixed up a bit here, but I could be misinterpreting. Thank u in advance for replying to my vomit lol
@dearkristin4 жыл бұрын
I know you posted this comment a year ago but as an ESFP who has an ENFP sister, it seems that while ENFPs enjoy exploring abstract ideas and jumping between them, ESFPs get excited about ideas too, but more the prospect of experiencing them. They are therefore more likely to actualise them. I know personally I can't detach ideas from experience.
@Tified96711 ай бұрын
@@dearkristincompletely agree. My ESFP fiancé is heavy on actualisation it's why he's already a senior manager in nursing by the time he was 30. His tenacity and love of ideas inspires me every day indeed ESFPs can have a healthy Ne dip from their dominant Se; I think it's a mistake to possibly assume that they don't consider the abstract possibilities indeed my other half also has a fully integrated Ni...we wouldn't be together otherwise.
