I wouldn't ever describe myself as the life of the party, I definitely dominate conversations, but more so in a way where I try to guide more socially awkward people into getting a chance to speak too. In college I used to go around the class to make sure that everyone was coping mentally and I'd have snacks at the ready just in case.

That hit me deep. Hearing the truth about yourself is almost traumatizing. We view ourselves how we want to view ourselves and project ourselves to others how we want them to view us. When you peel that away and get to the core of someone, it's intense.

Exactly me too
@Rickyp01233 жыл бұрын
As an INTP, it is interesting to read this and see that so many people agree. I am just now learning that many if not most people think like this. I don't; I think hearing the truth about myself is more of a welcome relief than an intense experience, since I always want to understand everything and understanding myself is no exception. I have found I am also usually pretty good at getting to the core of people, and when I blurt it out I tend to piss people off even though I assume it is what they wanted or needed to hear, or perhaps just because I like being right (Ti hero). Also sometimes I do not realize I "figured someone out" so to speak and they will suddenly be put off because I inadvertently put them on blast. I guess the lesson is that many people feel differently than I do about this and to accommodate that I should make an effort to be tactful.

This is one of the most unbiased descriptions of ESFPs that I have ever watched, with the exception of Michael Pierce. You hit it on the nail. ESFPs are very interesting people. They are actually smarter than we give them credit for and are very very quick learners. Funnest people on planet earth and they bring life to the world. Never a boring time with them - just don't overload them with Ti because you will loose them. They don't live in their Ni, but when they access it from time to time, they can come up with some near genius amazing things.

@@mutantmacrophage6653 You need to relate your Ti to ESFP interests for their Fi/Te to really enjoy it, even better if they can try out the thing you explain immediately, especially if you yourself can show them. ESTPs love hearing the why logically about that stuff. For example, if you and an ESFP play the same instrument and you show them a technique combined with how to use it practically that is enough for them to love it, but they'll rarely figure out the "why, where and when" from a logical standpoint, just vibes. So if you explain to them what mood you're creating, how the musical logic works and where it does and doesn't make sense then their Te has all the knowledge for creating the vibe/emotion they want at the right time. If you Ne them hard with different examples of outside the box uses too it is metaphorically like you've just given them all the different shades of say yellow, and next time they feel yellow is the colour, or say I v bVI ii is the chord progression, they can accurately express themselves

When you are an ESFP with a slightly social anxiety and can’t really relate to being the life of the party. Like i am though in my circle of friends...I mostly choose shy people as friends because i get the chance then to be the loudest, best dressed,Center of attention. I do run in two circle. Popular squad and “not so cool squad” I agree with being insecure of others think and being afraid i am stupid. Like my ISTP sister keeps asking me why i care about grades and i’m like “I don’t want to be the dumbest in my class”. I mean i know a lot of friends who get good grades because they are curious and want to learn. On the other hand i study because i am competitive and can’t imagine being the most stupid in the class. By the way as an ESFP i come often to this video because i love hearing about myself. True about the dressing part. Like my ISFJ mother and INTJ friend keep telling me Red lipstick is way too bold while i am like “That’s the point”.

This is a poem I wrote last year. I am a ESFP. Any others relate? Poem: Depreciated M.Southall The sky is falling in fall with an ominous feeling of fear. That emotion I ignore the most, and yet the one that seems to steer. When you repetitively regret the things you did living a life without regret. It burdens me to dwell on deeds that I should just forget. Ruminating thoughts of failure, and future visions of the end. Fight or flight is limited when your confidence is dead. If only I could exit this place of burden and despair. I've fortified so much before, but am I beyond repair? Not to leave this earth, but rather the mind where I lament. I just want to be present in the moments that bring us deep content.

Romantic partnership recommendations and how the pan out for ESFPs: 1. Golden pair: ESFP - ISFJ (switch I/E and P/J) Highest understanding/emotional compatibility "Best" emotional/sexual compatibility Greatest high points, worst low points 2. Silver pair: ESFP - ESFJ (switch P/J) Highest level of mutual respect, but don't understand each other Very good emotional/sexual compatibility 3. Bronze: ESFP - INTP (switch everything but P/J) The most common marriage and longest-lasting relationships (usually). Companionship - one fills the other's shortcomings. Emotional/sexual compatibility is not very high, but the relationship feels like being a child again, very freeing. 4. Pedagogue: ESFP - ISTJ (switch everything but N/S) The relationship for developing/learning the most from each other. Sexual compatibility is off the Richter scale. It is recommended to be intimate as often as possible. Like, daily. Emotional intimacy needs to be developed 5. Benefactor: ESFP - ESTJ (switch everything but I/E and N/S) Very little conflict, lots of respect. Very good emotional/sexual compatibility (same as silver pair) Hope this helps!

This content is so eye opening and life changing. As an ESFP I'm not great at internalizing myself deeply. I'm always so worried about how everyone else views me, that it blurs the vision of who I actually am deep down. I've went through periods of my life where I though I had Social Anxiety because of Trauma where someone really close to me rejected me and hurt me emotionally. It destroyed my ego. It was conflicting because I knew I was a very social and fun person, but subconsciously dwelling on that one rejection made any signs of social disapproval cause me high anxiety... I am so happy that I am starting to overcome this and blossom into the energetic, caring, spontaneous and fun loving person. Being 23 years old trying to figure out who I am and what paths to take is a constant question I ask myself. I fear that I will never truly know, or that I will make the wrong choice. This just cleared up my head so much about what my strengths are and how I want to incorporate them with this world. Thank you so much for helping me in my transition into a beautiful life ♥️

This is a beautiful comment to read. It's great that you are growing to love yourself! As a 27 year old ESFP, let me tell you that you still have so many years to figure out "who you are" and what you want to do (as do I). People will try and make those decisions for you. They might tell you that your spontaneity, your playfulness, your desire to be out in the world rather than settling down etc are bad things, but let me assure you that those things are what make you who you are! Your energy for others, your zest for experiences, your humour, your desire to entertain people - these things are what will give you purpose, energy and security in your identity for most likely the rest of your life. These qualities are all wholly loveable. (I am still learning this myself) Don't let people dim your light!

Including playing musical instruments, cooking, working an IT department by myself and helping out a paralegal that I only came to give a message to. I had seen how to be a paralegal in a movie backed by trying to look up a law or two on my own when a court clerk was nearby to answer questions one day as I was walking past the courthouse in a different town. Hi Chase, I'm thrilled to discover how incredibly deep into one's psyche the cognitive functions go. I had no idea they did this, even though I've been a Myers Briggs user for 30 years. I'm a member of all these Narc groups, MBTI groups, anxiety disorder groups, and the like on Facebook, so I've been sharing your personality analyses with each of them. I hope that's alright. From what I've heard, you're analyses are describing my mother, sisters and myself to a T.... We're all different types....ESFJ, ESFP, INFJ.... I study alot of the Clinical personality disorder types - Anti-Social personality disorder, Dependent Personality Disorder, and even those are incorporated into your exposes on each type, although not mentioned by name. Your analyses even take into account Amir Levine's work about Anxious, Avoidant, and Secure relationship types. So I find myself perfectly persuaded, although I do find myself disagreeing about what you say some people are typed as - Trump for instance is ESTJ to me....not ENTJ. I wouldn't give him that much credit! I've been on the hunt for what has been ailing me for quite some time, and swoop, you incorporate them all under one umbrella. I'm bowled over. It's fascinating. You've left me in awe. Ha! Keep going. I'm listening.

I have taken Myers Briggs personality test several times as I felt that my personality does not fit the description most gave. Your description of an ESFP has helped me understand myself better and has made me conscious about my actions and behavior. Thank you! :-)

This is my Mum! So many times she has descoved something new and says "I'm going to do this everyday" and never does it again. My ISFJ Dad bought her a violin 15 years ago, and she had probably touched it a total of 6 times. 😂

As an ESFP, I SUCK at sales. I’m way too transparent, and I’m too go-with-the-flow and prefer to trust that people know what they want. If they say no, I respect that choice. I’m also highly anxious, and I hate being the center of attention. However, I’m EXCELLENT at anatomy, and massage therapy was the best career move I’ve ever done. One on one, dark room, soothing music, healing experience. That being said, my clients say I’m the highlight of their month 🤣 I’m also not spiteful. When I leave a relationship, it’s because it’s been toxic, or I’ve been taken advantage of and I realized it. I choose to always make a clean cut exit, and I’m friends with most of my ex’s. I’m not one to retaliate. That being said, my ex’s always regret hurting me. I always hear about it years down the road from them how much they enjoyed me and how sorry they were for treating me the way they did.

I have a ESFP female friend that helped me with math all my four HS years. She is very intelligent and capable. It’s funny, she’s pursuing a child development career. I have other ESFP female friend that always helps me to keep track of everything related to schools events, financial aid information and important documents. Both are amazing !

Wow my daughter is brilliant with math and science. She's majoring in engineering. She's also very much a people person. She loves to dress up. She's very advanced and super smart. She always tests entj or estj though. She is indecisive about everything but she completes everything with perfect results and is awesome at time management. She's the sweetest thing and is not confrontational or mean in any way. She's mellow and humble but kicks ass in every way. She really defies type. She has all of the capabilities and level headedness of the estj and entj but none of the harshness and bluntness. She is well liked and respected by everyone. She rubs no one the wrong way. She's also a tremendous athlete. I can't type her.

What does your weird rant of someone who, first, tests as "entj or estj", and, second, whom you "can't type", have to do with the video above?!

You don't know how accurately you described me. Im 26 years old, dropped out of my degree after 4 years failing in engineering and now in a new one(finance and banking). I have no idea what i want to do in life and a settled life w marriage and kids seems so far away even though I'm already so old (compared to my peers who are getting engaged, finding new homes etc vs me still living off my parents). I always don't finish what I start esp when it comes to my studies. I feel like an insurance agent path might suit the way I am and what stimulates me but Im overly caught up about what people would think of me :(

One of the funniest things I’ve ever seen happened to an ESFP friend of mine about 3 years ago. During marching season at my school we had to March outside on the parking lot, and he comes on to the field basically in his night clothes, no shoes or socks on, and obviously disoriented. He said something along the lines of “I live 15 minutes away and I drove here in 3 minutes because I woke up really late” come to find out he was driving 115 on the backroads to school.

As an INTJ, I find myself emulating the INFJ (at least we both have similar Hero and Inferior so it's quite easier) when I interact with the ESFP girl that I liked to cater to her needs/wants. Btw, the last bit you shared about the ESFP's Ne Demon aiming to destroy you, that kind of happened. I felt the people who I trusted have also become aloof at the same time that the ESFP was kind of taking them away from me. She was always finding them and spending time with them and kind of isolating me essentially. I have had some confusion between me and this girl because apparently we cannot be on the same page at the same time. I studied some psychology on why she was doing the things she was doing and stumbled upon literature on Narcissism. And they all clicked and made sense in line with the ESFP's actions and your descriptions in this video as well. They want to be babied. They are not typically relationship material and I felt I was led on. As you said, they like to start things but not finish it (make commitments). But for me, as an INTJ, I was looking for closure and I wanted to make it work. But I had to learn to let go and be more sensitive in sensing and discriminating good from bad potential relationship partners. As an aside, you had a video that talked about one's ego going to the subconscious when the person got drunk. My first interaction with this ESFP was that I let her lead the conversation while being completely receptive and laughing it off with her (which is hard for me as an INTJ lol but I tried to establish rapport). After that interaction, I felt drunk! Like I was a kid or the kid inside woke up. That's what happens it seems when the subconscious speaks to the conscious (ego). Also, when I would be in high spirits and be genuinely laughing, she would respond by acting like she's the INTJ lol. I have had to study all of these to make sense of typing, myself, the ESFP girl, personality disorders (not saying anyone's disordered but just something in my gut felt wrong), and my overall situation. Thanks CS Joseph. For me as an INTJ, I realize that the ESFP may be nice to have around to elicit that positive vibes, but just too much and too volatile emotionally for me. I acknowledge our differences and incompatibility and must move on.

Just shared this with my ESFP pastor, hopefully he finds it insightful. I did not realize all the negative things mentioned about ESFPs before I shared it with him. Oh well, every-type has strengths and weaknesses. Right now I'm just trying to figure out how to apply the cognitive functions to following Jesus. I know you posted this awhile ago but I just wanted to say thanks for the content!

I, as an ESFP, live with an ESTJ and ENJF. We're all girls. And boy, it's crazy. Also, we have another roommate, but she's introverted and she is scared of us. I would like her to join the fun, but it's hard to do with my ESTJ and ENJF roommates, because they don't understand why she's acting a little strange.

Wow, very insightful… My daughter is an ESFP and I can relate a lot to what you said. What’s also little nerve-racking is a lot of narcissism comes through or even narcissistic personality..Yikes, at that point I wouldn’t call them good people if they destroy someone else because they can’t get the loyalty or freedom they want… Incredibly immature

Fe critic is real. My dad was an ESFP, and when I was upset about something, he would often tell me 'You'll get over it.', thereby guaranteeing that I would NEVER get over it. Mostly great dad though. We played baseball every day in the park one summer, built a tree house together, went on fishing trips... good times.

This is kind of so true except for the fact i ain’t usually the loudest in the room since i can be a bit insecure if i feel like other ppl are cooler than me and I’ll keep it low. Like i always choose to be in the best classes where i know students are serious and have good grades simply bcuz i know i’m lazy yet i got a big ego and in a class with good students I’ll be a good student as well bcuz i don’t wanna look stupid. Growing up being the oldest child my parents were a bit overprotective towards me to not get cold or to not get hurt(they’re ISTJ and probably ISFJ ) and instead of allowing me to go in park and socializa they made me read a lot to a point where i kind of knew all the facts about animals planets and Maths and i was actually kind of the best student in my class

Am only now in a place to realize Im most likely an ESFP. It makes sense given my past and recent personal growth. Im intellectual in a very applied way and I guess I always gave that more weight than I should have in terms of my ego, but in practice its still really strong. The biggest issue I have is that my Ni is something Im having to protect against and it makes it so hard to take on bigger challenges with confidence Im doing the right thing as I usually miss super obvious things. A lot of success for me looks like embracing the short term and doing things where success is subjective.
