Looking forward to see the upgrades. You can never go wrong with free PCs :)

Cool content, I just got me an emptied out HP 3500 MT with an i3 with a 300 Watt powersupply. for 10 Euro. I will smack 2 x 4 DDR3 inthere and swap the i3 with an i5 and make it a Rollblocks machine with a GTX650 Ti and an SSD.

@@corneliusantonius3108 Hi there! 10 euros a great deal for that! Will work just fine after those upgrades you are planning to add :) Let me know how it all goes! Thanks for watching and commenting I appreciate it.

@@RememberThisTech It is doing fine but I had a faulty SSD so I am hunting for a deal on that. The GT650 ti is still playing Rollblox fine though.

@corneliusantonius3108 @corneliusantonius3108 hopefully you can get a good deal on an ssd soon!

A great little PC for a commoner if they had only bothered to troubleshoot it. Then again, open enough tabs in Firefox, Edge, and Chrome, and each one can easily eat up 8+ gigs. I once caught Firefox using about 24 gigs LMAO. I've even caught Teams using over a gig. Teams of all things. I'll never understand how browser with so many tabs open that you are not currently looking at can eat up so much ram. Ok ok....enough of my ranting LOL. Great find! I have a Dell of the same size with an extra NIC card running PFSense. These are great little boxes that can perform double duty for other things. Looking forward to see how it does as a Linux machine. Have you found a Linux tool that gives you FPS, CPU%, GPU%, VRAM?
@RememberThisTech6 ай бұрын
@itstheMR yep I've seen the same mem usage on idle chrome tabs. It's dumb how much the grab and hold.. well also dumb for me to not close them lol. Mangohud is a good linux fps tool. Having issues with it registering the gpu usage though.. ahh the joys of Linux from a noobie user like me!

I mostly use the Opera browser and the Vivaldi browser, however, I have not checked to see how much ram., is being used, but I rarely have multiple tabs open.

Hello Jason, that was a fine gift and I wonder if the onboard graphics have been turned off in the bios.

Hey there, Laurence. It perhaps might be. I'd have to test it a bit more :) Thanks!

@@RememberThisTech I have found that those ex office computers work well with Linux and are usually reliable workhorses. However, I have an HP Compaq 7800 USDT.,PC., which developed an odd fault, whenever it's shut down it does shut down but then it restarts immediately, but I read online that holding the power button for a count of 10 cures that problem, so I tried that but I counted to 20 and it worked.

@@laurencejohnson4106 Hey Laurence, That is an oddly Specific issue for sure! Have you tried updating the bios to the newest rev?
@laurencejohnson41066 ай бұрын
@@RememberThisTech Hello Jason, I have not tried that, but judging from what I have read online that particular fault often happens with some HP., computers.

I got one for almost nothing. It did have i3 second gen . To upgrade to i5 third gen need to update the BIOS and is a nightmare. Could not be done in a single step and support from HP is long gone.
@RememberThisTech6 ай бұрын
@mamailo2011 Ahh well least it cost almost nothing :) Were you successful in updating the bios and i5 then? Or was it a no go?

@@RememberThisTech I have looked into this and tried fitting an i3-3220 into my 6300 - there used to be a workaround with some older bios iirc, but downgrading is impossible and the latest bios is Sandy only. Unless you have a 2600/k sitting around the i5 is fine honestly.
