Reviving my Royal Enfield Hunter 350 from the dead?

Best news is that the parts on the Hunter are so affordable, and as you well know, it’s such an easy bike to work on. I’m just glad to see it again, and would love to see it running again. That would be so cool.

From what I usually see in our workshop at work I would say it's salvageable. Fork tubes look bent on video, steering stem might be lucky and it survived, neck bearings I would change them no matter what, and if the frame has a hairline crack where you pointed just put a welder on it and you're good to go. From what I see on video it's defenetly a bike that can be put back on the road with a few parts. And the starting part, yeah, that's modern bikes and fuel injection for you. We sometimes have bikes that sit arround in inventory for over a year, they fire right up with 1 year old gas if the battery has enough juice.

Glad to see the little hunter out. While working on it do swap its stock rear suspensions with Nitrox suspensions for 60% improved comfort, a lot of hunter 350 owners have reported the phenomenal increase in comfort with classic 350's suspension for lower price. You can either use the classic 350's or the preferred one for yours. I own a dapper ash, will be replacing the stock ones with the classic 350's (UCE engine) nitrox suspensions. May the Hunter brings you smile and happiness in 2025.😄

Thanks for well wishes and the tips on the Hunter's rear shocks! I bought a set of K-Speed Diablo shocks from Baxter Cycle, which were delivered just a few days after the Hunter took its dirt nap. I'll try to get into that project early this year and get it back on the road again. Cheers! 😉👍 --QM

@@QuasiMotard Cheers mate! Checked the K-Speed Diablo shocks and they seems to be a perfect fit for hunter 350. Since you are using custom seat can you comment on its comfort especially on long rides?

If you can somehow revive it, I'd say do it! I know you loved riding that bike. I'm so impressed it still fired up! If you think it's with doing, fix her up and get her on the road again. While you do that, I'll be learning to ride on a 1999 CBR600F4 that I'm buying off my co-worker.

How do insurance companies work in the United States? Do you pay the deductible and can you choose to have the motorcycle replaced with a new one? Or do you have to repair it on your own? What happened with the idiot who caused the accident? It was so sad to watch it, dude.

The guy who INTENTIONALLY hit me got away without ANY punishment... no criminal prosecution. 🤦‍♂️ The insurance process in this event was fairly straightforward. The other person's insurance policy covered the property loss of the motorcycle within the first 30 days; they deemed it a total loss because of the repair costs and the suspected frame damage. I asked for the option to buy it back, and they agreed to $1800. I figured that I could either do the repairs myself or sell the parts (e.g., engine, ECU, wheels, etc) to recover my $$$ if the repairs aren't feasible. Cheers! 😉👍 --QM

@belalehner3937 After the break-in period, I was able to get about 80 mph top speed: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fKbWfmqao5p5faMm55s Its comfortable speed, without sounding like it was straining, was 60-62 mph... very pleasant sound and vibrations. I think up-gearing it with a +1 front sprocket might move the comfortable cruising speed to 65 mph. That's still "slow" for most busy cities, but it's perfect for surface streets or as a back road cruiser. 😉👍 --QM

@@belalehner3937 Hopefully, it won't cost too much. Parts for these bikes are relatively inexpensive, but that's assuming I won't need a huge shopping cart to fill the order. So far, these are the items that I know need to be refreshed: - fuel tank (minus the pump and sender) - handlebars - left handlebar end weight - left bar-end mirror (CRG aftermarket) - clutch lever (aftermarket) - headlight bezel - headlight mounting brackets - speedometer/gauge - left footpeg, mounting bracket & bolts - shift lever & linkage - center stand - side stand - left passenger footpeg assembly - left rear grab handle - left front & rear turn signals - seat (still have the original unit) - (rear subframe?) - (front fork tubes & seals?) - (steering tube/head bearings?) - (windscreen?) That's a long list, but each item is relatively cheap. The fuel tank will be the biggest expense. We'll see how it goes! 😉👍 --QM

Texas have been giving a lot of PINK titles to wrecked vehicles. and they say you can get them street legal again. but they are a nightmare to do and most times cost more than the vehicle is worth. but maybe after they stop the inspection it will be easier.

I think if you're going to have to spend over $3000 to fix it, might pass & use that money on a new bike. Sell the parts. Although it would be Cool to see you fix it up& great Content for your KZbin channel.

The parts list so far looks be be under $800 as long as the frame isn't compromised. If the front forks aren't bent, then I can get by for under $500. I could forgo replacing the tank and save another $200+, but that's ugly and it would drive my OCD over the edge. 😉👍 --QM
