Thanks a lot! This video is still relevant in 2022 for the new Lineage OS 17.1 for the Samsung A3 (2016). However, you missed to explain how to install Gapps (Google apps): - Do this right after installing Lineage OS as shown in the video - Download the gapps zip from its official source - for Lineage OS 17.1 I choose Android 10 and nano - Copy the gapps zip into the device internal memory via USB (you can do this while in the TWRP menu) - In the TWRP homepage, go to "Install" - Navigate to the path where the gapps zip is in the internal memory - Select gapps zip - Press "Install Image" - Check if all the information in the screen is correct - Slide to install - This process takes a while... - After success, reboot the device via TWRP

I'm still using that phone in 2020 (got it when it was released) and let me tell you, I'm pretty damn rough with it as well. I spin it and throw it all the time and if it falls on the ground, I don't care. It's slow though lol, battery isn't great but I think that's partly my fault

So I am a total noob at all of this and I'm simply trying to follow the instructions. I have a SM-A300FU and I believe this is the A3 (2015). Will this procedure work on this phone or are the A3 (2015) and A3 (2016) so different that the lineage OS for the A3 (2016) will not work? Thanks for your help.

You'll need to download the specific lineageOS for the a3 2015. As far as I'm aware there is no official version but there is probably an unofficial version out there. All the other steps are the same.

Google search brought me here forum.xda-developers.com/samsung-a-series/development/rom-lineageos-15-1-unofficial-samsung-t3793323 This states support for the SM-A300FU Forgive me for my utter lack of knowledge, but how do I find the right Odin version? I understand it is tricky to put a link since it is Samsung software.

It was a little premium looking device at a cheap price. I kind of miss that phone. Mine is fully updated through samsung smart switch, but still does not support wifi calling. Two other a3 2016 bought the a little later that same year do support wifi calling. Can I copy their OS and flash onto the phone without wifi calling? Is the hardware different? hmm

Correct, but it really doesn't matter at this point anymore. Anything is at own risk when installing another OS onto a phone.

I have this phone as my old phone, while I think it’s a bit too small for what I need it for (I use my phone a lot) it still has a nice design and a very lightweight body. It’s been lying around on an outdated android 7.0 so I decided to install a lineage os 17.1 soon and I stumbled across this video. Nice to see that a device like this still gets some recognition (it actually has even more rom support than my a8 2018, which doesn’t even have an android 10 port yet)👍

Just installed it, it's amazing! It literally feels faster than my a8 with Samsung UI. Wish I could install lineage on that too, but there are no good ROMs for this device or any andorid 10 ones at all lol

I have it and currently using it right now since early 2017, I have TWPR, Magisk Installed and It does lag and stutter on several games, but it is indeed decent. Does it improve the performance on games?

No, game performance remains the same. Just normal use is a lot snappier and smoother.
