So much seem to be lost in this culture of singer screaming nowadays look at some of the suggestions mentioned - you can't compare the performances. No my fave #1 singer in metal but the technicality is undeniable - that killer "high pitched " ending in cemetary gates along with the raw power elsewhere who is touching that please can you say ? I will change from calling it screaming as anyone can try to scream, but thats super high pitched sung vocal. Its one thing screaming for its sake (yawn) but also keeping the musicality is important too. Not a big fan of death metal etc....I want to hear sung vocals and vocal technicalities not just belting/screaming

Joe has that emotional scream-singing he does that can move mountains and is so unique. Kyo is honestly hands down the most insane vocalist I've ever heard. He has like 5 octaves or damn near it, his screaming is inhuman, and his presence on stage (especially in earlier years) is some of the most viscerally intense I've ever seen. Honorable mention to Bruce Dickinson, the voice that introduced me to metal, and Devin Townsend.

@Frank Lopez That's why Bruce is my pick. He's been consistently singing great new material for 40 years (Maiden's early to mid 90s were rough, but Bruce's solo stuff during that era was amazing), with great stage presence and performance during all that time. Sabbath is definitely the band that defined the genre and set the standard back in the day, but both Ozzy's reign with them and his strongest solo output was comparatively short. Anselmo's crazy talented for sure, though, and probably the most versatile considering his extreme metal capabilities. Like, he just put out some stuff that no one would recognize as being by the voice of Pantera. There's a lot of good contenders.
