The 883 is a fantastic starter bike, if you can go used - lightly if possible. You will find if you want 'more' in a year you have fantastic options. Either 1200 kit your bike if she's really "yours" or sell/trade for a dyna. Harley really nailed the 'progression of things' with their non bagger lineup.

The best all-round exhaust system for my '93 Sporty, 883, turned out to be the stock exhaust pipe with the crossover, with stock mufflers with baffle's sawed out. Of course it looks stock with a much improved sound. On the street it worked as good as any aftermarket exhaust system out there. I tried it with a pipes without the crossover and gained some on the top end just like a set of straights but without all the noise. I've got a modified 2 into 1 SuperTrapp on it now 'cause I'm trying to get 60HP out of a stock engine. I'm getting close.

I like that Two Brothers exhaust but, looking at your video, it seems like the lower pipe will scrape when you lean in a corner. You mentioned ground clearance, but that pipe looks hanging low.

I own a 1995 XLH 883 DLX. Running the Vance and Hines original straight shots and had the stage 1 up grade done on air cleaner and carb. Now I am doing a tank mod upgraded to a 1994 FLSTF Fat boy 3.5 gallon split tank I am also thinking of going to a 2 into 1 exhaust system maybe the Bassani road rage 3

so i guess i didnt catch whether or not the grenades lose power or gain power? does that depend mainly on what air intake system you put on it as well? i really want grenades, another thing i wanted to ask if there is an attachment for back pegs using this system? i love the sound of the grenades! and nobody really has them

With proper fueling, the Grenades can gain power. Adding an air cleaner can help that as well. As for passenger pegs, installing the Grenades requires removing any passenger foot pegs. Right now, you cannot use passenger pegs with the Grenades. -DrewZilla

If you keep the stock air filter, you do not need a fuel tuner when just installing slip-ons. -DrewZilla

All exhausts will be louder than the stock exhaust. If you go with a full exhaust, you will also need to buy a fuel tuner to adjust the air fuel ratio. If you just buy slip-ons, you won't need a fuel tuner. If you're installing slip-ons, no, you do not need anything except the slip-ons. If you've installed an aftermarket air cleaner, though, adding a slip-on would require you getting a fuel controller such as the FuelPak FP3. -DrewZilla

If you go for the Shortshots, you don't _need_ to replace the air cleaner, but you do need the FP3. If you can afford to replace the air cleaner, it can help. You can always replace the air cleaner at a later date and just load an updated map with the FP3. -DrewZilla

lemmy my friend just bought a second hand sportster its a great bike but the clutch sling just broke down when rolling yesterday night, i don't get why but that's what happen does the sling could swaped with any hd sling, does it plug and play? and i just noticed that the front fork is like totaly soft, does it happen because from rebound setup or fork oil? sorry for my english, I'm come from Indonesia which hd just like leaving from here which makes it hard to find the sparepart thx in advance

The Sportster clutch springs are specific to the Sportster, so you cannot swap the spring with a different HD model. It's unlikely that the spring is broken though. You probably just need to adjust the clutch. Luckily, we have a video for that (kzbin.info/www/bejne/omjYpqVqfbOppac). For the forks, you either need to replace the fork oil or even rebuild the fork tubes with new fork springs. If you cannot get new fork springs, you can try replacing just the stock 10W fork oil with heavier 15W fork oil. This would likely help with rebound damping. Yes, it will definitely affect the bike. Your stock bike already runs lean, and when you add a full exhaust, you run even leaner, which is not good for engine life and throttle response. If you want to start with one item, start with a Fuelpak 3. It can even improve the throttle response of your stock bike.
