Personal view, Dutch suddenly befriending predators and being okay with kidnapping humans for hunt is Bull. It was a point that he didn’t do assassination missions and they killed his friends. People who want to force that make Dutch an jerk not cool that Arnold becomes drinking brothers with the people that wiped out his friends who only rescue missions for sport.

So back in college, Sonny Landham (Billy) came to my campus and did a talk with the AV Department. When he had given his speech, he took questions from the audience and gave alot of backstory on Predator and Billy's last stand. When he got to me, I asked if he'd do the Laugh (TM). He said "Okay, but if anybody's going to record this then get ready because I'm only doing it once." He proceeded to do the Woody Woodpecker laugh. The room erupted into laughter at that and it was great....but the loudest laugh in the room was Sonny Landham's because he did start belting out into the Predator Laugh and it was amazing.

Regarding the bomb at the end of Predator, I believe the reason the Predator had to self destruct at that moment was because he knew he was going to die soon, and part of the rules of the hunt would be to destroy evidence of their existence (meaning to destroy themselves and evidence of their arrival as best they can) and to avoid dissection by humans which they would have to assume humans would do. Dutch being there was only icing on the cake, and would be almost inconsequential to his desire to fight "fair" or as fair as an advanced alien could be when we are the human equivalent of deer to it with its invisibility (so it doesn't really fight fair at all...

Thing with the Predator series, it's best to consider some comics and novels as canon to answer some questions. Question 2: If I remember, a novel mentions the Predator in the original was young and considered brash. Most likely he started taking Dutch's survival personally so by the end he was frustrated and was laughing because he was taking out his enemy at the same time he was dying. Question 4: I can imagine Dutch going to bat for her and at the very least eventually getting sent back home. Question 7: The Predators do prefer hunting in heat so that's one reason. Also, maybe other sections of the planet resemble other alien worlds. No idea why the proto-Predator was there. Question 9: AvsP does take place in the Predator universe but it's separate from the Alien universe. The Xenomorphs in the Predator universe have a different origin.
@David-And-A-Half2 жыл бұрын
The AvP question is easy enough. Alien/Aliens are canon in the Predator movies but not the other way around. It's not a shared, ongoing continuity it's a one way link.

I've always felt what leads to the last several years that the Predator blowing himself up at the end of this movie was not about being vindictive or Petty or anything like that because he lost I think that it's policy that the Predators must keep their technology away from humans at all costs, therefore they are armed with a weapon that would evaporate them if activated along with their equipment

Dutch also appeared in the Capcom video game "Alien Vs Predator" (1994). In it Dutch has a cybernetic arm with smart gun. Also the game was suppose to be an adaption to an early draft of an AVP movie based off a comic book story, but was scrapped. The only connection to the comic and AVP movie is the female heroine copies the same character arc by joining the Predator clan by getting a mark etched in her forehead.

You've got the right idea. As a comic book fan let me tell you an insistence on canon is the fastest way to ruin just about any story ever told. It's canon if it needs to be or if you want it to be. it isn't if you or the writer doesn't want it to be
@robinlamont41672 жыл бұрын
I think the reason the Predator blows himself up, is to destroy evidence of himself. The second one, the battle takes place on the predator ship, so no body for humans to find. 3rd film takes place on the predators practice hunting ground, so any surviving humans can't escape and alert Earth. The Predator, the predator hunted down the smaller predator to destroy its body and then escape on its ship. Predators have cloaking to not be seen, so destroying evidence of their physical self, so as not to be seen by humans for study would make sense

If we consider anxiety as a stress response, then the situation in Predator is close enough to potentially cause Jesse Ventura's (as I can't remember the character name, and he wasn't that different to himself!) blood to also thicken and thus could be interpreted as him not having time to bleed. Fair point, nut Xenomorphs tend to take on the genetic properties of those from whom they were hosted. Like the dog-alien from Alien 3 or the supposed Pred-Alien from Aliens. @@InimicalRabbit I could see that, but when we've seen them in the past, they've always gestated in animals with dense, endoskeleton structures. However, a lot of people I have talked with about Predator and the relationship between Mac and Blaine have either denied or not seen that it is there. The comic/Predator from the comic is canon, not whatever Prey did. The Predator from the comic appears on screen in Predator 2 Prey’s director just didn’t respect the source material. The Dutch tapes are also canon as what’s in the tapes also happens in other parts of Predator lore. Dutch was nearly killed returning to Val Verde by a female predator who knew who he was. It could also be argued that Predator/Alien do share a universe as there is only two, both an on screen and a comic Predator that are known to have killed an engineer (a member of the lost tribe from Predator 2 has killed 2).
