Rey Tarkintown Set 3 Update!

Looking forward to see how Rey TT does against hard control Set 3. Been playing her as my main deck middle Set 2 and going to be my main deck for Set 3. Only problem I had Set 2 was hard control - Bossk. If I was lucky and drew my discard early I had a chance. But going wide and rushing didn't always work. In last tourney did over 40 damage to win first game against Bossk. Second game probably again but scooped as he was just going to mill me out. Third game, again I was doing lots of damage but couldn't make an early discard stick...goes to time and lose dice roll. Played same Bossk and opponent week before in tourney and again more or less same story with me losing 1-2 and both to milling me out... I am hoping with Boba gone and having more space in the sideboard I can better tech for Bossk (less so Palp which is other problem for me but that was mostly in 1 tourney with low Sabines). Going to try the Corvette. What do you think of Satine as a response to mill Bossk win cons? Rest of matchups, including Sabine ECL and Jango has not been a problem, so overall very excited for our Store Champs in region next year...

I feel favored into bossk blue. Palpatine is a lot tougher this set than last. I’ll be putting out a written guide on Patreon that I’ll update throughout the season and will definitely have a section on how to tackle the bossk matchup. I don’t think satine is the answer but you’re on the right track with corvettes

Love the video! The discussion of opponents feeling unlucky is so true - discard is so good at making the opponent make awkward decisions, and each small mistake they make gets magnified since they are so low on total resources

Really appreciate this! Rey TT is one of my top decks so I'm glad to hear more tips on the matchups and all. My list is also really similar to yours, with fell in main as one of the few main difference.

@@zors5188 I had fell in the main until maybe 2 days ago. It’s in the main more often than not. The removal package is all flex spots so it’s very meta dependent

I've been spending a lot of time on this question. I think Rey is better vs. aggro but Anakin feels better vs. Midrange. Anakin struggles a bit with Cad Tarkintown and Sabine ECL

I think that's probably accurate. Rey's stabilization is really strong vs aggro. I'm not sure how Anakin players are doing vs control but I feel like that's an area where Rey has an edge as well. The Anakin lists are still evolving a lot. If they skimp on the discard package they will lose points to control decks.

@@chrisschutz Anakin can get some value trades in most matchups, but Cad Tarkintown seems basically unwinnable due to the damage output and the Cad pings. Sabine can be tough too, whereas Rey Red always feels pretty solid vs. Sabine to me. I beat 3 Sabines at the PQ in New jersey including BobbySapphire with Rey

@@chrisschutz the problem with Rey against Sabine ECL is that the deployment of Rey is very fragile so te stabilisation is not that obvious. Against Han you have Han unit too that can one shot Rey and if you put an Obiwan you can be Cantina/waylay/cunning, the only way to protect her is villagers. Anakin helps a lot trading without loosing too much tempo. I feel as confortable with Anakin and sometimes better against Sabine. Against control it's almost the same. The big difference is against Palp, you can push way more damages with Anakin deployement and you can side Bravado. The machup is winnable on contrary of Rey, against Palp it's 10/90. Quinlan and Cad TT are tough but ok, TT helps a lot for Rey. I have the impression that Anakin is a little bit stronger in the big picture, but it depends on your playstyle, but Rey is a bit more fair, Anakin has more tricks and more explosive opportunities.

everyone has different experience but Rey v palp is definitely not free for palp. I think yellow palp is the only one that palp is heavily favored
