Roasted. Garlic. Summer. Sausage. Long ago, the four Nations lived in harmony. Then, everything changed when the Summer Nation attacked. Only the Avatar, master of all four elements, could stop them, but when the world needed him most, he vanished. A hundred years passed and my brother and I discovered the new Avatar, an sausagebender named Brian. And although his sausagebending skills are great, he has a lot to learn before he's ready to save anyone. But I believe Brian can save the world

I think it's incredible that in a world where "random doesn't equal funny" is either true, if you've seen it too many times, or false, if you have a broken enough sense of humour, BDG makes it consistently funny because of the sheer amount of effort and time he puts into these types of videos. That's a very specific talent, and the world absolutely needs it.
@the_norfee Жыл бұрын
Random humour often becomes funny when you can tell a lot of effort was put into it. It raises the question of why anyone would do this, but there is no point in asking that because there is no point in the art itself. It's simply just absurd. There isn't exactly anything being said or any form of message. I think random humour and existentialism can relate to each other because they both take a stance in the absurd. The sheer weirdness of life and why it exists parallels humour like this. Why would anyone put effort into this? The answer is WHY NOT?! Life is weird, so make weird things! Hopefully that makes sense. The best part about random humour is that you can disregard everything I just said and still find it equally as funny.
@ltbq Жыл бұрын
i think we need to accept that old internet adage of 'random doesn't equal funny' is actually just false. random *can* be funny, depending on who is doing it, just like all comedy.
@ThePunikaTV Жыл бұрын
I disagree with this as a general statement anyway. Most humor comes from the unexpected (what else is a punchline?) and random is nothing but unexpected.
@madsandersen2740 Жыл бұрын
@@ThePunikaTV Punchlines (and a lot of comedy in general) are not necessarily the unexpected as much as the subversion of expectations. Random shit is only funny if people are expecting something else.
@shradibop Жыл бұрын
to me, there still needs to be setup to the punchline. in this video the setup is the dramatic and cinematic tone of the video. if you just say "sausage" out of nowhere it is only funny to a small demographic, and for a short amount of time. only punchline, no set-up. this is not random = funny. this is absurdity, it's slightly older cousin.

Every year, since 1973, my grandfather awoke on Christmas morning to Roasted Garlic Summer Sausage. It became tradition to gift the sausage every year, a tradition that got passed down to his eldest son, my father. Every year, my mother and I scour the supermarkets for the precious sleeve of meat, wrap it in soft cotton, and present it with a twine bow thirty minutes after noon. My father will be grateful for this song you have gifted us, and you will live on in family legend.
@369sandman2 жыл бұрын
This may sound silly, but I watch this every morning now to put my mind on the right track. You might ask, "It's just a goofy song about sausage, wdym?" Well, in my eyes, Brian is a real artist, invoking absurdism to bring thought and feeling to the viewer. Maybe that's just my take, but isn't that what art is? A piece of work that evokes deeper thoughts than what is provided on the surface? I struggle with understanding life, and am drawn to absurdist ideas. This masterpiece helps me remember that reality itself is WEIRD as a concept, but we can celebrate that, rather than be scared, worried, or confused. We can accept our limitation of understanding, and create joy out of the chaos, while we have the fortune to experience it. Crafting a banger of a song + music video about a food you like, using only its name for lyrics, while putting in maximum effort, is certainly not normal. In the best way! Brian is certainly talented enough that he could be a hugely successful musician of any type he wants, he's that rare artist that can convey his ideas extremely effectively in an entertaining way. For now, he chooses to bless us with goofy/absurd/surreal content, and even if it's only me that feels this way with all my overthinking, I'm supremely glad that he does, because it truly offers me some guidance in navigating this bizarre experience called life.

Recently I've been kind of obsessing over a situation that was deeply frustrating, but it's over now, there's nothing I can do to change it, and I'm working on spending less time thinking about it. Now when I start spiraling about it, I sing RGSS in my head to drown it out and lighten the mood. Roasted garlic summer sausage has truly brought me peace in a troubled time.

I know this is a weird video to comment this on but I wanted to thank you for always putting such detailed subtitles on your videos. I have auditory issues so it's hard to understand videos, especially with background sounds at the same time as voices. So many youtubers just ignore subtitles and you can lose a lot of info. Not only do you put subtitles but also audio description. I know it takes extra work so I just wanted you to know it's really appreciated.

Its always great when the story for a song being written is essentially in the lyrics themselves. It might be nonsense, but those four words tickle all the poetic notes that make lyrics sound good. It uses every major sound in the english language and has internal alliteration. Its the "cellar door" of cured meats
