I use quad remesh twice for keep details. One with the higher setting and the second with the minimum quad count as possible

I"ve been using your software since Rhino 3. I love the value and power of your technology. I am so thankful that you are increasing Rhino's ability to manipulate scan data. Can it recognize features yet?
@Rhinoceros3d Жыл бұрын
sadly no, but we are early in the development of this tool, adding those type of capabilities would be awesome upgrade for a future release.

Thanks for the explanation! I use did the same using Instant Meshes. But the issue always I have is the loss of datails in subD process. Do you have any advice for that?
@Rhinoceros3d Жыл бұрын
sadly the only way to keep detail is to crank up the complexity of the model. Or when you are in subd tweak the subd model to re capture detail lost in the shrinkwrap/ quad remesh step. (check out the new soft creases in v8) there is always a balance between detail and complexity and you have to mess with it a bit to find the balance that is right for your particular project.
@alexandersjolund63186 ай бұрын
Fantastic, been using this since rhino 8 came out! Any way of doing this while not generating massively complex isocurves? I feel like rhino could really use a cleaner transition from SubD to NURBS.
@Rhinoceros3d6 ай бұрын
sadly detail and iso count are linked. if you want the detail, you have to have the iso count.

Great tutorial! Can you show, how to replace bad scanned glass surfaces of house windows etc. with planar meshes?
@Rhinoceros3d4 ай бұрын
doesn't have to be a mesh, you can use a nurbs surface - just smash it in there and make sure it fills up the hole

I used a LIDAR scanning app on the ipad, there are many but generally it's not a great result.
@MegaBlackJoe Жыл бұрын
it's a trash result, Iphone is not suitable even for large objects like cars - by analyzing the data you can see how much the scans are off, it's not able to produce a straight line without deviations @@RhinoGuide

Honestly, this is tool is BS, sorry guys, just try to convert any square model and you will see how bad it deals with rectangular models smoothening the corners no matter what settigns you choose. It's a shame that you can't match Fusion 360 conversion (which is a terrible software, but at least it does the job of STL conversion).
@Rhinoceros3d Жыл бұрын
you using hard edge detection and creases?
@MegaBlackJoe Жыл бұрын
@@Rhinoceros3d i am using hard edges detection and creases, the output model doesn't have hard edges, they are smooth anyway, so there are no 90 degree corners, there are no corners at all
