Ric Ocasek's vocal performance certainly hit home for listeners back in the 1980s. The sound of his voice was unique, and it added an original tone to the material that The Cars delivered. In the first half of the 1980s, people embraced individuality rather than discouraged it. That *really* worked in the band's favor, because it helped The Cars go from seeming out-of-touch in the 1970s to hip in the 1980s. My favorite song from them used to be "You Might Think". Now I think it's this one.

The Cars and the voice of Rick Ocasek were a huge part of my young adult life. It was a time we let “The Good Times Roll”. That was exactly “Just What I Needed” to cope with peer pressure. On tough days I would say to myself “Let’s Go” because “ It’s All I Can Do”. My love life was always “Touch and Go”. I always felt “I’m Not The One”. Ric, “Since You’re Gone” there’s less “Magic” in the music world. Well, maybe someday, somewhere, we may be able to say “Hello Again”.
