It's so funny that he owns McDonald's franchises and Rhoda said "I'm loving it." 😂 This show was made way before McDonald's used that jingle!

So the irony to all this is that Brenda ended up ultimately getting engaged to Benny Goodwin. Did he set her heart aflutter? Was he an improvement? In retrospect, the McDonald's guy would have been a much better choice.
@angelacarleton9575
@angelacarleton9575 4 жыл бұрын
Perhaps but he didn't set her heart on fire and that's so important when any couple is going through a rough patch in their marriage because it makes them want to stand together for their marriage. The only excuse to get out would be "abuse" issues. That's why I got out of my marriage.

Date him for a year. Get to know him really well first. The kind of love Brenda is wanting is the superficial romantic love that usually doesn't last. She doesn't realize love is caring more for someone than you do yourself. The kind that grows over the years. A settled ,comfortable love, which they already seem to have. I'd marry him.

I think the whole thing was too rushed. He proposed when they had only dated a few times, and she accepted. Then realized she didn't love him. Of course she didn't she barely knew him at this point. They should've gone out for a few months before arriving at the point of falling in love and becoming engaged. He was a very nice guy and I think they could've been happy if they'd taken it slower.

@@StrongnBeautiful They definitely rushed things with Joe! Only a few episodes into season 1 he asked her to move in with him but she wanted to be married, and the wedding was only a couple episodes later. They were happy til the first episode of season 3 when he decided he wasn't happy enough. Then the rest of season 3 is her trying to win him back and the first episode of season 4 has the divorce being final. So sad! Especially since the actor playing Joe didn't want to leave the show, he was booted out. A married Rhoda wasn't funny enough they said. I fail to see why. Why have two single sisters rather than one married one and one single one? I loved Joe and Rhoda as a couple.

@7:39 Rhoda says "I am loving this conversation - I'M LOVING IT". Brenda is going out with a guy that owns 3 franchises of McDonald's. Which is ironic because that is the slogan for McDonald's today. Makes you wonder if they were inspired from this show to make that slogan in the first place.
@eduardo_corrochio

It's not ironic, that word means something else. Sorry but lately I keep seeing this word being used instead of "coincidental", which is what you truly mean. Ironic refers to something happening in the opposite way to what is expected, and typically causing wry amusement because of this.

Someone fill me in on french food please. I grew up in Houston. Never had it. And i may eat crawfish and raw oysters and calimari. But i draw the line at snails. Surely they have some really good food beyond pastries. Someone tell me what im misding out on .😊

That was nice for Brenda to get a chance to say no. Rhoda had the same thing on MTM with 60s beach hunk, Michael Callan, who Rhoda should've married.

When Brenda first expressed to Rhoda that she had misgivings, I thought she was going to tell Rhoda that she was afraid her marriage wouldn't last because she still couldn't believe that Rhoda and Joe split up. (My alternative plot development, lol.)

I would have been embarrassed carrying those groceries into any restaurant...fancy or Burger King. Brenda seems more impressed with his money and the social status of it.They barely dated and she accepted his proposal? She should have learned from Rhoda and Joe, they dated briefly and their marriage just barely lasted 2 seasons of the show. Ida always dreamed of her daughters getting married but was picky about their men. I have been happily married to the same man since 1980, when we were 19, and I never once heard music or bells, and nor did I want to leap over fences or sing. But, the love has always been genuine, and still is. Hollywood has created that mythical stuff concerning love, since the 1930s. The thing is, everyone is different, but if the love is real that is what counts...not what you don't hear during a passionate kiss or what the persons zodiac sign is.

Neither did I, especially since his heart was really not into marrying Rhoda. In this episode, it would have been a proper response for Rhoda to say something like, "I heard bells with Joe, and where did it lead me?"

You got to be alone if he doesn't turn you on. I was a baby in the 70s but it is pretty much the same way today with men if they are not Gods and it is almost 2020 and that's the sad part that this show is still so relevant and yet so funny . I hope I can wake up tomorrow and Trump is just an asshole who is never gonna get Russia and his money to be president . Love that dream but I know I'm gonna wake up tomorrow and live in this hell rest in peace Valerie Harper.

Donald Trump was President. We had four years of economic gain. We were energy independent. Now, we're a laughing stock with a dementia patient at the helm. I, too, hope that Valerie is resting in peace. At least she doesn't have to be here while the people of Earth tear each other apart.
