I agree about Fresnel lenses being inferior to pancake lenses, but when comparing visuals, it's not just fidelity (and the effect of dynamic foveated rendering on fidelity), display tech is really important, and the PSVR2 uses OLED which creates an image with a much greater dynamic range and much greater black levels, and that makes a huge difference in a lot of games. (I own both headsets, but if a game is available on both headsets, I will always play it on PSVR2, games generally look prettier, and the haptics and adaptive triggers are an absolute game changer.)
@gustavobarandas2012 Жыл бұрын
Yeah the image is much better on the oled psvr 2 lenses, however the advantage of the pancake lenses without having to find any sweet spot is a huge and shouldn't be underestimated

@tomstow2002 Жыл бұрын
@@stevieridesscotland7031 It just comes down to what you're looking for. Quest 3 has certain clear advantages. It's standalone, meaning that you can take it anywhere, move more freely and don't require additional hardware (obviously, if you tether it to a PC it loses these advantages and becomes a much more expensive proposition than a PSVR2 + PS5). It also has a larger library, and much greater utility outside of gaming. And of course, the pancake lenses. For me, when it comes to pure gaming (which is what I want out of VR), the PSVR2 provides a notably better overall experience, unless you pair it with a very high end PC, and even then, it's visually fairly close, and the controllers and haptics would probably still tilt it slightly to PSVR2 for me. I'm not bothered by the cable, but I understand that some people are.And yes, I'd love pancake lenses, and when it comes to gaming specifically, for me, that's the only significant way in which Quest 3 eclipses PSVR2. It is subjective though. There's not a right answer, just useful information to be aware of to help each person find the setup that is better for them.

Aside from the terrible sweet spot, even the clarity at it's best(2000x2040) looks kind of soft, almost like there's a veil masking the image, compared to the sharper, clearer, cleaner and crisper mura-free, glare-free and zero god rays with Quest 3. PSVR 2 + PS5 gives the same or better experience than a Quest 3 hooked up to PC at least half the cost. Couple that with PSVR 2's haptics and adaptive triggers plus it's plug'n play with no fiddling or tweaking required. For my VR needs, that makes the PSVR 2 the clearly obvious winner. @CarbonatedTurtle Жыл бұрын
@@loudoesreviews Wait, what? The PSVR2 costs $549, and in order to use it you need a PS5 that'll cost you another $500. That's double the cost of a Quest 3, not half. The Quest 3 is also plug and play, or even less since there's no plugging to do at all. You turn it on and go. It just has the ability to do so much more than the PSVR2, but that doesn't mean you can't just take it out of the box, buy a bunch of games from the store and start playing. Good video. The main deciding point for me is that the Quest 3 is far more of an “open” platform than the PSVR is. The PSVR plays PS5 VR enabled games and that’s it. The quest also has its own game library, but in addition to that it has app lab, side quest, and EVERY game on PCVR if you have a PC. In addition to that even it can act as a huge TV to remote stream any PC game you can play with a game pad. To me, PSVR is good for casual, console only gamers that. But Quest 3 appeals to both enthusiasts and casual users alike.

I bought a PSVR2 this last Wednesday. Played Horizon Call of the Mountain and No Man Sky on it. While the games look incredible I found it hard to keep the headset focused due to the lenses and the clunkiness of the headset on my head. This caused a lot of nausea and I generally could not get comfortable. The PSVR2 headset also seems like it would be way to easy to break in so many different ways. The cord is wired into the headset which immediately concerned me as I found the likelihood of the cord being yanked on the headset end more likely than the console end. Would be much better if the cord plugged into the headset and you could at least get a magnetic adapter. I then decided to buy a Quest 3 today and after messing with it for a couple hours, connecting it to my PC and messing with that, connecting to Steam VR and messing with that..... I returned my PSVR2 today realizing the only thing I could do with it is...... play PSVR2 games. Yes the graphics are impressive on the PSVR2 but after trying out Half Life Alyx, Skyrim and No Mans Sky on the Quest 3 I am seriously impressed. I also find the Quest 3 easier to wear and operate, SOOOO much more you can do with this headset. Quest 3 is the winner in my book by far. All that being said I will be investing in a better strap with added battery bank for prolonged life and probably some other accessories as well.

Yup! If you've got your Quest 3 paired to a PC with an RTX4090 there's practically zero point in going back to PSVR2 unless you're hell bent on deep blacks and richer vibrant colours. We'll get a Quest 3 Pro in 2025 with a Micro-OLED display, but for now i'd rather settle for lighter blacks and weaker colours while gaining the long laundry list of upgrades Q3 provides! RE7 and RE Village PC VR mods exist, along with RE2R, so there's that. PSVR2 may have RE4 VR for now, which i've beaten, but unfortunately it didn't quite live up to the hype. The high persistence head movement blur of PSVR2(RE4 VR forces HDR on you so you have to have brightness to 50% or higher which creates more head movement blur. Then you have to deal with OLED mura during darker scenes, the tiny sweet spot, and overall softer filtered/veiled image, and motion duplication caused by the 60fps reprojection. It's a bit of a messy experience, especially when you factor in the cumbersome knife parrying and downgraded environmental effects. Overall, it's basically hampered by the limitations and design of PSVR2. Quest 3 on the other hand has Blur-free CRT motion clarity. it's incredible, while retaining pretty decent reasonable brightness, the sweet spot is large, the clarity is sharper, clearer and just cleaner. It's like peering through a 2K window without all of the blemishes that plague PSVR2. It's also a lot more comfortable with the silicone interface and Elite Strap, you've got the option for wireless or wired(to PC), Ringless controllers etc. There's no going back for me. I'd much rather play the upcoming Metro Awakening on a PC with Q3 any day. No matter how many incredible VR games PSVR2 gets, like RE Village for ex, it's going to sell poorly due to the bulky aesthetics, cable, tiny sweet spot, onion ring controllers, discomfort and softer image clarity. It's done! :P Sh** that was a long post. sorry! lol

I don't think this video covered at all if you can use either headset on both a PC and a PS5. No real mention on what you already have and what you will be using it with. This is a comparison to something that might not even work on either platform. Shouldn't have left that out! Maybe it assumes you already know this stuff (I do not). And am looking for good answers. I have BOTH of course and am wondering if one headset works really well on both or not.

I own a PS5 but I have 2 kids under 7 that don’t play Resident Evil 😅 For a family situation, don’t you think this Meta Quest is better for living room playing for kids, not actual PS5 games, but it also allows me to play some ps5 titles? Considering I’m not a gamer and I play maybe 6 hours per week.

Just got my Q3 and love it, I have a PSVR 1 and at a later date I plan on upgrading to the PSVR2. I like my PSVR for its sit down and play in small places style. I love the Q3 for its more movement game style like swinging a sword in Wrath of Asgard 2 or throwing an ax, it makes the whole game feel that much real. So got to say they both have a place for me.

This was me exactly. Love my PSVR1 and have quite a nice library built up. I do plan to get a PSVR2 at some point, but with Sony basically ignoring it I feel like it doesn't have the support it's going to need long term. If PSVR2 was backward compatible with PSVR games it would be a no brainer, but I've gone with the Quest 3 and I'll get a PSVR2 out of the bargain bin at some point.

I own both, PSVR2 display has top colours and contrast, but it's blurry. Quest 3 has average colour range, bad blacks, but no cable and a sharp display. I'm sensible to blurry stuff (I hate it), and I realized 3 days ago that VR can be sharp, and that was with Quest 3. I'll trade colours for portability and sharpness. And with no cable, I'm never touching my PSVR2 again (except for exclusives).

How is it a draw when the PSVR 2 has 3 ticks and the Quest 3 has 4 ticks? Technically it should be 5 ticks to the Quest 3, there is way on God's green earth that a Quest 3 headstrap and some controller grips are the same cost as a PS5, I just bought the BOBVR headstrap with a battery included for £40, the grips are £15- £30, that's a grand total of £70 on top of the £479 for the 128GB base model.

Get a PSVR2 if you already own a PS5 and are invested into their ecosystem. Otherwise just get a Quest 3, especially if you own or are planning to build/buy a gaming pc. Just make sure to buy an elite strap for comfort and a JSAUX link cable that has an extra cable branching out for charging your Quest headset while you play 🤷♂️ I prefer dedicated PCVR headsets like my Valve Index over everything else but those external trackers are easily destroyed by subwoofers/loudspeakers if they're spinning while you're using your audio system, don't perform well around reflective services, and force you to spend hundreds of dollars on an extra pair if you want 360° tracking. Inside-out tracking is definitely the way to go if you don't have a cleared out, dedicated room for VR.

Quest can't match the fluidity and framerates of the PSVR2. I have an expensive wifi 6 router that only has my RTX3080 PC and the quest connected to it and even with the 2400 bps wifi connection rate I still get stuttering while streaming to my Quest 3. I don't have any stuttering or micro freezes in the PSVR2. the PSVR2 is so much more comfortable to wear too. I've been playing Resident Evil 4 and 8 on the PSVR2 and I'll play for 5 plus hours at a time, comfortably. The quest 3 lenses are definitely better but overall comfort is much worse. I have a Bobovr3 pro headstrap for it and it's still not comfortable.
@laffinkippah5 ай бұрын
I've been using my Quest 3 almost daily since I got it at lauch. I really expected to get tired of it eventually, but I just can't put it down. It's such a big step up from the Quest 2. Once I paired it with an external battery to get over the two-hour limitation I'm amazed at how easy it is for me to get lost in VR for hours. Recently I got a PSVR2 to play the exclusives, but I don't think I'll give it much more use after that, especially if Sony gives up on it and all it ends up receiving are Quest ports anyway. I find the PSVR2 so clunky in comparison, the fresnel lenses kind of negate the OLED goodness, and the cable is so immersion-breaking and also an absolute PITA. I think Sony did a good job with PSVR2 since it is really much better than Quest 2 and lightyears ahead of PSVR, but the Quest 3 is the winner for me. It also doesn't help that Sony aren't exactly communicating any kind of enthusiasm for their product.

I actually traded my quest three for a PS5, then bought the PSVR2 and I am so bummed. Every game that I bought for my PS VR two looked better on the quest three. The PlayStation VR two has such a bad grainy affect on the lenses. It looks like there’s a screen door in front of your eyes while you’re looking at everything! The quest three had the sharpest visuals, way sharper than the PS VR two. In my opinion the screen door effect on the PS VR two makes the PS VR two not worth it at all, like the blacks that you get are not worse anything close to having a better sharper clear image of the quest three has. the reason I like the PS VR two more overall though it’s because this year the quest three doesn’t have that many great games coming out, and I’ve already played all the great games through and through on the quest three, so I am really enjoying Gran Turismo seven, no man, sky, resident evil, four and seven, and more amazing games on the PlayStation VR two. But honestly, I think that if I could use the quest three as a headset for the PS VR two games, I think it would be much better than the PS VR two, and I think that PlayStation NEEEEEDS to change the lenses to get rid of the absolutely TERRIBLE screen door effect. It makes every 5 star game look like it’s retro made in the 80’s with static on it. I have to wear sunglasses inside the headset for that effect to go away and then all the games are way too dark usually to see. If PlayStation releases a new PSVR3 that has better visuals, or let’s us use the quest 3 instead of the PSVR2 I think it would be much better haha.
