The opening Grave section: I do not hear this really as "grave" (sad) - Perlman sounds more romantic, probably due to a very soft bow, and high usage of vibrato; sure it is a fantastic rendition, but I prefer Hahn's interpretation - maybe closer to Bach's intent ?

Around 440 Hz!
@shkwave997 жыл бұрын
I think most players tune to 440 these days; I think that the movement pushing for a return to "classical" standards, meaning a slightly lower key by a few Hz, has largely died out. I could be wrong.
@philtanics10827 жыл бұрын
A = 440 is standard concert tuning, but he is tuned to A =431 or 432 . I play in same to get C =528, and when I play along with it its almost perfect. Not that its sounds nearly as nice haha.
@eriknystrom58397 жыл бұрын
Phil Tanics I think you made a typo. You mean he is tuned to A = 442 Hz. With A = 432 you will NOT get a C at 528 Hz Even if 440 is supposed to be standard, 442 is quite common ( New York Philharmonie tuning) 442 is also quite common in Scandinavia and Germany. In Vienna A = 443 Hz is standard. The we have to notice the difference between Equal temp scale (piano tuning), just scale and Pythagorean scale. Definitely when playing Bach violin solo sonatas, you would not use Equal temp. I tune my violin to 442, and it fits to this recording. A = 442. ==> equal temp. C = 526 A = 442. ==> just scale. C = 530 Please also note that in the Baroque time the tuning was much lower A = 415 Hz. ( a semitone lower than 440) Sometimes when you hear a baroque orchestra the strings tune down to that. (Wind instruments have to transpose)
