11:50-13:20 just to save time and string, you can use a cooling rack or two to simultaneously help flatten them out and allow the geodes that are not being squeezed by the racks to maintain a form that is as close as possible to just hanging loose. To paraphrase a commonly used figure of speech: you kill 3 birds with one stone.

looks really cool, do you think there would be a huge difference of results between ice and liquid?
@RiahsTieDye4 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I do only because the liquid is going to generally stay where you put it, where as the ice blends the colors together. I do think that both will look amazing though. Hope this helps😊💜

With this kind of thing how do you wash it? Hot water first or?
@RiahsTieDye3 жыл бұрын
Hi! Thank you for your question! I always wash my tie dye garments in a hot water wash with cold water rinses if you have that option. I also use synthrapol detergent made for extracting the excess dye while your washing 😊 I hope this helps!
@sarahyahshebrew95224 жыл бұрын
Hello. I'm wondering if you could advise me on a project. My family is going on a camping (glamping) trip with about 5 other families. Ages are from teens to seniors. I wanted at least 2 activities where we could All do something together and bond old and young. So I want to turn old white bed sheets into "picnic" blankets. The dilemma is the folding part. My solution is to prefold and tie all sheets the week of. If I use a very concentrated soda ash wash (prefold), would I then be able to re-wet the fabric to re-activate the soda ash? I'm trying to save money on dye so I will mix the dye bottles up an hour or so before activity time. Everyone will have their own stations but bottles will be shared by each table. Or would a redunk in soda ash be ok and carefully squeeze liquid out so as not to mess with the folds and tying? If it's easy for them it will be fun. Since we will be under a pavilion that has a large kitchen I have five gallon buckets for the wash after rinsing in the sinks. OR should I pre- soak, fold and tye and then place each canvas in a giant zip lock to keep moist? What do you think? IS THIS DO-ABLE? THANKS FOR YOUR TIME AND ATTENTION.
@RiahsTieDye4 жыл бұрын
Awesome! You guys will have so much fun. To answer your question, I found out recently that after you take the items out of soda ash go ahead and tie them the way you want and then let them dry out. This would be the easiest for your situation. No need to re wet because once you actually start putting the dye on it actually won’t spread as much which is a good thing. So go ahead and tie them up, let them dry out, and pull them out to dye whenever your ready. The soda ash will still be active because you didn’t wash it out so I hope this answers your question 😊 if you have any more questions, don’t hesitate to ask 💜
@sarahyahshebrew95224 жыл бұрын
@@RiahsTieDye YAYYYY! Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions. Actually I do have another question or two. Is washing soda the same quality soda ash you use? Also do you think you could do a video of the presoaked, folded, tied and dried before dying scenario? If the quality is not decreased this could save me lots of time in the future. THANKS AGAIN!
@RiahsTieDye4 жыл бұрын
I have seen people use washing soda but I cannot tell you for sure whether it is the same or not. I actually have been doing that scenario in the last couple of videos but maybe I don’t mention it. So I always prewash everything I’m going to dye with regular detergent. When it comes out of the washer I put it right in the soda ash for at least 20 minutes (longer is fine) then when your ready to tie just spin it out in your washer or ring it out. Then tie it up and let it sit to dry out for a day. Then you should be good to go ☺️
