I absolutely love both the look and sound of that Strat. So I looked through your specs for the details about it. Honestly expecting it to be a US based boutique maker, meaning it's probably going to be way out of my price range once you add taxes and other charges after it reaches me in the UK. Totally gobsmacked to find that it's created by someone around 6 miles away as the crow flies from where I'm currently sitting and the price isn't OTT either.

Your videos are really great when it comes to stylistics, rarely have I seen a youtuber who knows how to explain it and proposes some interesting examples of stylistic mix. P.S. This is the spiciest solo I've heard in a while! Cheers Mister Haugen!

I think it takes real balls and a lot of skill to pull this off quite so brilliantly. I think if I try I might just sound out of tune and/or high😀 There were bits in there that reminded me of that video you did ... something like... “what if Bobby Mcferrin wasn’t feeling quite so chipper”. Excellent stuff as usual. Greetings from Wales, UK.

Holy cow. Your note selection here is INCREDIBLE and makes my molars buzz. (Ribot does that, too.) Plus: TONE. Geez. Just wait until I move to Chapel Hill (where my wife is from -- her band Speed McQueen was part of the scene down there in the 90s) and start harassing you in person.

Another great lesson - love it! And for a somewhat technically challenged player like me it sounds good played slow too. Just one (weird?) question: When you play the g+ on 2nd string at 0:25 the note is really sharp (octave higher perhaps). How do you achieve that?
@EricHaugenGuitar2 жыл бұрын
An accidental pinch harmonic a la Billy Gibbons!
@abrigospardos2 жыл бұрын
Wow! If by putting Ribot and Hendrix together in the blender what you get is these wonderfully fresh, idiosyncratic bluesy pieces, please keep them coming! BTW, and since man (and woman) does not live by Hendrix and Ribot alone, I was wondering if you had already considered applying your method to a cool little tune by Kenny Vaughan called "Mysterium". I may be wrong, but it seems to me that it would totally suit your style and would benefit from your quirky treatment. Cheers!

Since you're playing over E Mixolydian, could we think of this as being in G# Locrian, which shares the same notes? In which case, the "blue note" of the G# blues scale would be the 5 rather than the flat 5?

I see what you mean, and the notes certainly do line up that way. But I just hate locrian!
