Thank you Rick! It’s called respect for those wrestlers that gave you a chance because of their work in wrestling. I like Bill Watts and Mid South because of the fantastic matches him and Grizzly Smith brought on TV for those fans that were shut Ins that couldn’t go to the house shows! With WCW it was about squash matches with great interviews. Greatest match on WCW when the Mulkey Brothers beat The New Breed on TV which brought about the golden age of WCW wrestling Mulkey Mania! LOL loved it! I remember when Jim Cornett the manager of The Midnight Express talked about going to the hometown of The Mulkeys to have a match with them where the I’m not for sure the US Tag Team belts being on the line. Everyone in this hometown were related to each other and The Mulkeys and were hoping their hometown heroes would be the next champions. Of course Jim and The Express cheated and won the match where they had to get out of town fast because the relatives of The Mulkeys were looking for them. LOL they were able to get away with a sigh of relief on their faces. Mulkey Mania was running wild that night!

I looked it up and $12,000 a week then is equal to $35,000 a week now. That's $140,000 a month.

Unsure about Randy Tyler however the variance of the next four New Orleans Superdome opponents is just a fractional sliver of the greatness of Ric Flair. He put all five men over and it can honestly be argued that all five are quite dissimilar as opponents and Pro Wrestlers. In fact in February 1982 Kerry and Kevin Von Erich actually wrestled as Flair's henchmen against "Bruce" Reed in Florida. Ten months later was a different story on Christmas Night as Michael Hayes and Terry Gordy turned Heel in Dallas during Flair's NWA Title defense against Kerry! "Naughty" of those guys after the fact, huh?😂🤔🎅🏻🎤🌊☀️🍊🌴🤼‍♂️B.W.

it's funny that other people have chided flair for carrying people's bags in the AWA when he was young. but where are they now. where is flair now. humility pays off

@@donjohn2695 lmaowut. Flair is a bum. He carried whoever’s bags Gagne told him to carry. He was a brown nosing groveling little twerp. The boys used to harass him about it. The bruiser told Scott Steiner when he left Indiana to head to dubya see dubya, “upon your arrival, drop your bags immediately & tell flair to carry them”. This is one of the GOAT old timers telling a green kid in Steiner to make flair carry his bags. No one respected flair or even liked him 🤣

And that seems to be lost on this younger generation. Not that I can blame somebody for getting the best deal they can as soon as they can. But it didn't seem to hurt the oldtimers to show respect for those that paved the way for them.

With all due respect to Ric, Nick Bockwinkel was a better fit for Lawler because he was not only a consumate champion like Ric, but also more available for bookings in the Memphis area. In the early to mid 80's Nick was a constant presence in Memphis, theres no way Ric could have pulled it off without neglecting other territories. Us fans won out, while the Memphis fans were given classic matches between Nick and Lawler, Flair was giving us classic matches against David Von Erich, Kerry, Ted Dibiase, Harley Race, Roddy Piper, etc.

Harley Race drove, carried the bags for, and scrubbed the world's fattest man with a hose and pushbroom every damned day when he was a youngboy, and never whined about it. Paying dues, being respectful, and humble was the right way to break in. Now you just cut a check to some no named backyard "legend" and call yourself a "professional" after your down you first hotdog. Wrestling needs more gatekeepers.
