Let's realize "broke" is relative. Chloe's broke is different from the man down the street broke. She is eating, has luxury shelter in LA, and has accolades behind her name. Same as TLC. yes they are in debt but relatively it's not horrible if someone is investing in you and your passions. Most don't have that luxury.

You don't understand. A lot of them are probably equally broke but because they're a brand and puppet, we don't see it. We only know it when hellyweird finally spits them out after chewing them up for so long. In other words, when the fame dries up we see just how broke they've been all along because they're not only financially broke. But they're also morally, mentally, spiritually and in many cases physically broke.

i honestly don’t think chloe’s “broke”. i think she’s just spending & saving her money responsibly & not trying to live above her means. she’s doing everything an average young adult SHOULD do. especially as a woman who gets most of their work done in LA. you don’t want a house because it’s risky living alone, you’re probably always working outside of it, you’d have to find a safe community depending on your status, it may not be in an area you’d want to settle down in for a family, you might not want to invest in a home until you have a family & just so much more.. her family has always seemed to have a decent amount of money being how they’ve invested into her & her sister’s career since they were kids & i’m sure they taught them how to manage & maintain it. i WISH more families, especially black families, did this. people expect artist to buy houses, cars & etc thinking they’ve made it, forgetting they’re also the sole providers for their family’s & are in debt to these labels.

I live in LA and pursued music from 2004-2010 and I can tell you straight up, they don’t want you producing or writing your own stuff. Every meeting I had, they would try to put me with writers and producers so they could intercept the money. Not to mention all the sleezy ass producers, managers, label executives trying to get at you. This was before the Me Too thing…shit was terrible let me tell you. I ended up quitting because I realized you have to sell yourself to make it. Either give up your body, or your actual voice and ownership. Well, to be honest, they want it all. It’s sick. Just make music in your damn room and don’t envy these artists cause it’s nothing to envy I promise.

They want to put you in with a producer and writers, slap a blonde wig on you, a leotard, and have you rolling around on the floor singing some tacky generic song someone else wrote that you’ll never get paid for. For The Artist = Hope You Can Pay Your Advances / Expenses Etc. = Royalties Not Yours If Advance Not Recovered! & The Way They Are Killing Rappers & NOT Finding The ORGANIZERS Of The Shootings Etc. Means Find MUCH $$$ For Security Because More Killings Will Be Organized / Finding The Shooters Don't Stop The Crime! What If The SECURITY Companies Were Involved In The Extortion Etc. Along With The MOBS / Gangs / Government & Corporations? Remember Entertainment Is Tied To EPSTEIN / WIENSTEIN & The Guilty / Suspects In That Case Involving Royals / Presidents Etc, Now Add Illegal Drugs To That! Slowly But Surly They Are Getting Exposed. The Band With The Hat On The Corner Was Better Off Then / They Would ALWAYS Be On The Corner Getting Something To Survive From WITHOUT PAYING ANY ADVANCES! ( That Was Stolen Using The Words NOISE POLLUTION ) = No More Band On The Corner But On Platforms That CONTROLS Your Products & Set Guidelines Of What To / Not To Say Or Get Banned / Taken Down Etc. = CONTROL / DICTATORSHIP ON THE CORNERS / ON PLATFORMS Etc. @@lilith.in.capricornK-pop idol groups live in company owned dorms together. Sometimes they have a “dorm mother” who is like a nanny that cleans up after them, makes sure they’re home, etc. if they don’t have a “dorm mother” then they would have their literal manager living with them. They often share rooms and have bunk beds in the beginning. As they get more successful the group will move into a new dorm and (sometimes) get their own groups depending on how big the group is (the average group size I would say nowadays is probably 7 but there are groups with more members). Nowadays groups tend to move out of the dorms and get their own apartments in Seoul but back in the days they would be in those dorms for literal years.

I remember watching a video Karine Alourde posted a while ago about how the City Girls and all these popular singers who might be flexing their wealth through expensive birkin bags and designer items actually are perpetually broke/in debt due to the excessive spending that their careers might require. Honestly celebrity life does not at all sound like it's worth it, at least in terms of being a celebrity through the entertainment industry. I'm curious. If theres a conflict of interest, why doesn't that render the contract null & void? why are artists under the age of 18 bound by contracts they couldn't legally agree to? even if their parents signed when they were underage they should have brand new contracts with independent lawyers when they get to be 18. including higher royalties and the ability to own their masters. why are the predatory practices of the music industry allowed? couldn't do that in the housing industry, right?

I think they build this dream world to lure more people them. To anyone who genuinely love creating music. Stay grounded and keep your feet on the ground. Most think about the fame and etc. That part isn't real. It's a illusion for the outside world. There's so many ways to be a artist now. Just keep your intentions pure. Lots of ppl. get into the industry for the wrong reason and end up going down. Don't get to down about everything. Like consistently for a longggg time it was insane. Lol… So one day I was like, “you know what, I’ll check it out”. People in the music industry (producers, record label people, etc.) are truly greedy and I think it’s safe to say PURE EVIL! I saved my hard earned money to make an album and when I did record it .. they didn’t give me the rights to publish it and do what I wanted to do with it, they wanted me to sign another contact to shoot music videos. Most of them don’t care about the artists .. the well-being of an artist and they don’t even care about the music you make .. all they care about is making money out of you .. this topic is so triggering to me but I just wanna share this so my voice is heard.. anyway I wish all artists who are struggling the best 🌹

yes, artists should have more control and be significantly compensated for their work. they should not have to go in substantial amounts of debt. absolutely. yes, these record labels’ practices need to be dismantled and reformed. however, I feel like this is bigger than just those things. the capitalistic, leeching, imbalanced, hierarchical society that we live in will have us regular, 9-5 working people thinking that these celebrities are broke. they might not be paid what they're worth, they might be in debt, but them being “broke”, I believe is subjective. as someone from the U.S. living in a society with a wage and wealth gap, systemic issues, health care cost crisis, and a homelessness epidemic, and myself doing things I never imagined doing like joining the army bc I thought it was my only way out atm, can’t help but to feel not empathy, but a minimal form of sympathy for these artists. in my opinion, Chloe’s apartment is gorgeous and her needs are met by having it. we are conditioned to believe that we should have it all. more, more, more. exorbitance, but at what cost?

I’m not quite sure how TLC and Chloe Bailey actually relate or compare in terms of business. They come from 2 different eras of the music industry, at the time of TLC, music and CDs was a great way to make money with touring, brand deals etc…. That advance money was usually quickly recuperated due to the price they were selling these albums and how cheap CDs were produced. The 90s are reputed to be the golden age of the music industry… TLC sold MILLIONS of albums, but they signed a BAD DEAL. Chloe Bailey just come from that Era where music is not selling but streaming: it barely brings any money so every artist nowdays are kind of a liability for record labels, so that why she has to wear many hats, like most artists nowdays, to bring that bread. Music has become a platform and only a very few select of music Superstars are living good with it.

They word it wrong the problem isn’t paying back the loan it’s the fact that the payments don’t come from the overall profit comes from the small percentage that they get so if they get two or three usually under 10% that 90% profit is not going towards the debt it’s only their small percentage so that’s what makes it extremely unfair on top of the interest. also while they’re paying that they get a smaller percentage while they’re in debt and once that it’s over they get a bigger percentage so to ensure that they never get that bigger percentage they always keep them in debt. They inflate the cost of things so their music video should be $20,000 but they say it’s 300,000 that’s what makes it unfair. same goes for it how she said she’s a producer so she saves money in that aspect because they may pay a producer half $1 million(in house producer so they get part of the money) or say you’re going to work in certain studios they’re all in-house they won’t usually allow you to do it at home and when you do save money they just find other ways to say that they spent money.

Who owns the masters owns the money. If an artist don't own the masters, doesn't have royalties throught writting credits, he/she will be the last one getting paid. And if the albums sales, touring and brand deals doesn't reach to cover the end of the line, the artist is screwed. Some people thing that if an artist made $25M in albums/ streaming, $75m in tours the artist gets $100M in the bank, they don't...and if you have to divide it between a band or a 13 member kpop group damn. Fans always boast about their artist being rich...but truth is that they pay for everything from nails to make up/ hair to clothes, promotion and radio spins, to tour costs, logitic, crew, hotels planes, album printing, studio hours , producers and thank yourself breathing is still free. It all depends on the company and the contract they got. it's never 100% the artist and rarely 50-50.

Ok. You lost me when you said “TLC is this girl group from a really really long time ago . “ Chile lmfao even I (born in 92) have respect for groups who were famous RIGHT BEFORE I WAS BORN although I have no recollection of them . TLC Is like what the highest selling girl group or sum? That’s wild
