It still blows my mind that the SOLE reason Tanya killed this mother-daughter duo was because of a “bad fortune.” I personally think she just uses physical violence towards others as a means to vent out her anger and frustration about her own problems. Also it’s important to note that she _STILL_ will not admit to what she’s done & probably never will.

IMO trauma doesn’t cause Evil. Evil is already born in people and it’s dormant until something activates it whether it be trauma or just sitting in your room doing nothing. If you’re born with evil it gets activated somehow. I don’t think trauma causes evil because 99.9% of Humans are traumatized but only about 1% or less become serial killers.

If you don't think someone would move a business cross-country to save it because of a fortune teller, we have a story in my family that is 100% believed in. My great-great grandpa came to the US from Germany in 1911, and the reason we were told is from his son (my great grandfather). That his father was told that he would die "In a Great War" if he stayed in Germany, and that he had to leave to live. So, he packed up some stuff, forged some papers to escape the German army, and came to the US via Ellis Island in 1911. All because a fortune teller told him he would die in a great war, during a time when Germany was prosperous and there wasn't a huge threat of war over the horizon
@bluesakura2092
@bluesakura2092 Жыл бұрын
Granted, being in war is a high chance of dying. So it was a safe bet for the fortune teller to say that. It would have been better to not let the fortune teller know anything about you at all, and then see what she says.

Boze talking about her spirituality & using it in harder times reminds me of why I got into tarot cards. I do simple spreads for myself and it helps me aim my mind while journaling. It makes me narrow down my concerns and goals by the cards that were pulled for me in their respective areas. It was really helpful. I do truly believe in the power of belief, I like to learn and sample from faiths and practices that I want raised with. @@NunyaNomi I think it's harmful to sugar coat addiction, especially when talking about an infant, because it takes away the seriousness of the situation. For an _infant_ to be addicted not just to amphetamines (like Adderall, Ritalin, etc) but to METH is a moral and parental failure to the extreme, and to burden your poor life choices onto another being that did not choose to be here is monstrous. It's also important to enforce that addiction is not a dirty word, it is the proper word to use both in medical and personal conversations.

@@NunyaNomihi! i have a bachelors in addiction counseling & i totally get your point but really the term “addicted” doesn’t necessarily mean that the person _chose_ to use the substance or partake in the act (process addictions) i.e. people who are kidnapped and sex trafficked and forced to use drugs & becoming addicted. in fact, the term “addicted” is literally defined as: “physically and/or mentally dependent on a substance or behavior, and when not partaking having experiences of mental and/or physical withdrawal.” either way, horrible story. absolutely heart breaking. that’s coming from a recovering addict with two kids of my own. i could NEVER do that to my kids even at my lowest point.

I used to tell fortunes, and the biggest problem I had was that I was always right. Not everything I had to say was popular and when it turned out to be true, they thought I had somehow known them/watched them to know their past/present, or I'd cursed them to affect their future. Nobody likes fortune telling if it isn't "you're doing amazing sweetie", askholes would appear a lot pretending to want advice when they actually wanted validation for bad or unhelpful choices...

the way you talk about spirituality, boze, is exactly how i see it. i do tarot reading when i don't know wtf to do or if i'm having a thought spiral. tarot is weirdly like a facet of therapy to me. the cards tell me something and i have to interrogate myself about what it means. it provides a starting point to center myself and reflect.

I really like the way your podcasts are laid out - these over the top intros in some podcasts are frustrating - also love your free flowing way of story telling. You’re a natural and I’m probably way too old for this podcast but I’m here for them x

What... she couldn't just file a lawsuit? That's what most people would do if they felt like they were scammed. It was her decision to make huge decisions based on a fortune. Which is crazy to begin with. And how tf did she not know that using the victims credit card would get her caught. That one's a no brainer. I'm glad that she was that stupid though. She ruined so many lives.

As for the love spells, perhaps it gives the purchaser the confidence to pursue the love interest. Perhaps they feel more secure in the possibility of having a chance with or attaining the love interest, so they actually put in the effort themselves to pursue the person with the belief that the love spell has created an opportunity. They believe it’s the love spell working, but in reality they’re acting on their own agency. The love spell just gave them that push that they needed.

Everyone in this story are terrible ppl. From the two pimps, to the backstabbing brother, to the scamming fortune teller, to the killer on the down low. Only one I feel bad for is the fortune tellers kid.

most of these fortune tellers will just throw guesses at you until something sticks . Or outright scam people like this woman. Think a licensed therapist might be a better person to go to ponder your options.

my mother was best friend with a multi-generational, very successful medium. All of the women in her family hadn’t lived passed the age 37, and she was talking about this with my mum one day and predicted she’d die before 40 in a car crash… and a little after she turned 37 she got in a crash and passed, it was awful. That shit is so crazy to me, as well as my mum having her whole life essentially laid out in front of her (number of kids, engagement, etc) while she was unknowingly pregnant w/ my older sis, she went to tell my dad once she found out and he had proposed before she had even said anything. I will always believe mediums can be truest spiritual, its just about finding them in the large sea of con-artists.
