In the beginning, PLEASE DO NOT QUIT YOUR DAY JOB. Do some market research. Research takes money and time and effort. It takes money because you need to buy the materials to make, say, wonton dumplings. It takes time because you need time to make those dumplings. And well-crafted dumplings are effortful. But market research is necessary. You need to know if there are people willing to buy your product (wontons) and if the buyers can keep your business afloat. Next: start small. By small, I mean a food stand or food stall selling wonton dumplings on the street corner. Each cup of wontons may have 5 little wontons and some broth, and each cup may be sold for $5.00 USD. The food stand can have a little Tip Jar, and people can pay the $5.00 in Tips. You may have 300 little wontons pre-cooked and a batch of broth. So, you can sell 60 cups, worth $300 in tips totally. Set aside 50% for Uncle Sam and 50% for yourself.

If you live in springfield mass there is a nonprofit that works out of STCC called SCORE and they are all local business owners who mentor anyone looking to start a business. They also offer classes and have dinners/events to network
