One time I walked into a Chinese take out in the middle of the proprietor's family argument. They were screaming & throwing pots, pans & utensils all over the place. I had no clue what they were screaming about & it was pretty fucking intense for a good minute before they chilled out. They still took my order & the food was excellent. Richard Pryor is rightly lauded as one of the greatest, if not _the_ greatest, stand-up comedians ever. Beyond that though, he's the only stand-up I can think of off the top of my head who could make a mediocre comedy watchable. Gene Wilder the same, but then, Gene wasn't a stand-up.
