Richard Thompson is probably the best example I've seen of what can be done with the drop D tuning, he's written so many great songs using it.

Agreed. I was playing along with him during a lockdown concert and realised that he uses Drop D a LOT!

Sounds like he's playing two guitars much of the time.

@@billpeake5260 - so true - I remember showing someone a YT video of RT playing VBL in a hotel room (I think), sitting on a bed with just his guitar, only to be asked "okay, where's the other guitarist?".

between his musical brain and right hand lies a singular genius. writes, plays, sings at a rarified level …and gets BETTER every passing year.
@PeteD18842 жыл бұрын
I agree. This song is well over 30 years old, so getting better every year is a heck of an accomplishment. I've seen him just a handful of times - I hope to see him again soon.

Adrian Legg always opens his shows with "Midwest Sunday", a piece that as he puts it will immediately tell you if there's anything wrong with the guitar, signal chain, PA, monitors and room acoustics. ThIs takes some serious testicular fortitude, because no other guitarist in the world with a lick of sense would even attempt to play that piece even under the best of circumstances!
