Really? I remember her telling the story of how travelling to open via plane, the stewards wouldn't let her board with her rackets (Serena was also on the plane and allowed). Lindsay said 'But Serena was allowed' , Stewardess : 'But thats Serena Williams!!' (obviously having no clue who Lindsay was). Lindsay was No.1 at the time. Maybe she thought she was some casual tennis playing accountant from england...

But most of those phonetic idiosyncrasies are understandable. I just find the British predisposition to add r's into words very odd. I can't think of a reason why it would be that way... perhaps because Brits aren't used to ending words with an 'ah' or 'uh' sound? Because they do it with the word "America" too.
