This one municipal drain had 4 beaver dams covering around 7 or 8 km. The water level was up several feet by the highest dam. A farmer had contacted the municipality to correct the problem as it is their responsibility. He was unable to harvest a significant amount of his hay because his field was under water. It is my job to go in and remove the beavers and release the water held back by the beaver dams.
Thanks for watching

Thanks Jennifer. Yes, I have done a few where I regret not bringing help. It's still a good way spend the day though. Maybe check out another one I did, "Early Fall dam removal 4 of 4" I definitely could have used help on that one. Thanks for watching

Damn. Them Beavers weren't playing... just the size of their dang Limbs. Always interesting.. Depending on the Available Sources...How different they build their damns. Beautiful Country. I spent a lot of my childhood in New Hampshire.USA So we ran over the Border into Canada there. But it's been 30 years since I've been up that way. Living in NW Florida. Lots of Springs and freshwater creeks& ponds Doing a good and thorough job

Hi Donna. Your right. Sometimes there are full on trees in there lol. I have found quite a few things in beaver dams. Rocks, bottles, garbage, turtles etc.... New Hampshire is pretty close. Thanks, I am very fortunate to live here. Are there beavers where you are now? Thanks for watching.

Hi, I would like to go there one day. Some of the beaver dams that are left alone to get big are pretty impressive. YES, lots of rocks, lol. Thanks.

When you toss the sticks, and there are many, roughly 600 tosses on this dam, does it leave furl for the next dam to be built again in the same place by the same or new beavers. Im guessing a next step could be to remove those sticks to a remote location so that they cant be used again. it would be good pickins if you were in the walking cane industry.
@geneplumley4136
@geneplumley4136 Жыл бұрын
Great question. I find more often then not, they do not reuse the sticks but rather go get new ones. It like they think they are broken lol. I often see piles left from excavators from years past and it does not look like they reuse those sticks. It would be best to remove them like you say but part of the problem with a lot of the places I go to. Is you can't access them easily with equient. I can do it by hand for a fraction of the cost but the wood gets left behind. I can tell you on these dams the beavers are gone before the dams get pulled. And yes they make great walking sticks. I get injured quite often and use them. Thanks for watching.

Beavers never use old wood. They prefer to use wood they cut down only.
