Here we are on Day 2. This one was a little bigger than the last beaver dam. It was hard to beat the weather on this one.

Lorsque je me suis intéressée aux castors, j’ai découvert un grand canadien silencieux, solitaire sous un ciel changeant dans des paysages à couper le souffle. Et aussi, un américain bavard et rieur dans les marais, qui apostrophe les castors et leur explique qu’il a détruit leur barrage 😂. Et enfin, un polonais souriant, qui nous rend complice de son travail. 3 belles personnes !

Hi Lina, 👋 Thanks. Good question.... I always start on the dam on the lowest part of the river/stream. This also helps expose more of the dams upstream. Then I just work my way up. I almost fell down, lol. It's bound to happen one of these days. 🦫 🌊 🌊 🌊

The one thing that can be said for nature and beavers is that they are both plentiful. See how the leaves are already turning color.

I do always wonder what the impact is on down stream fauna and flora of sending down all the sticks, leaves, mud and silt. (just a thought, not a criticism)

That makes sense. But these dams were fairly recently built. Anything that has really developed is new. I am removing these on waterways that have to be maintained. When these waterways rise, it floods either roads, culverts, farm fields, homes, bridges, etc. Farm fields and that bridge are what brought me to this place.

Problem is, so as you break through those dams those work a holicks aka beavers will start rebuilding as soon as you leave.

Hi Peter, 👋 The 🦫's are trapped before I remove the dams. The places I am set up at are deemed "municipal drains." That basically means these waterways have to be kept clear and the water levels maintained. If not, it results in flooding.
