Ultimatums as a sales tactic... Excuse me! Wheres the front door? I always recommend coming into dealerships well researched, this places you in a strong arguing position. From there its just about turning the screws to the dealerships for the best price. Also a salesman is just that, its best to negotiate with management, the salesman is just an intermediary so management doesnt have to negotiate directly with you. Salespeople have 0 ability to change a price, they only talk the talk. Dont give them details on other dealerships other than prices you can get, you dont want them communicating with each other. Ask them if they would like to beat the price in any signifigant way. Bounce around until the price stops going down, try to find one willing to match your lowest price. Turn to the 1st dealer that offered you the good price and ask them if they would still like to honor the price. If they try to raise it, inform them you have a dealership willing to match the price. Then flip the script on them, demanding a reduction of the exact ammount they tried to raise it on you for the slap in the face. Then after finalizing the price you get into financing. Again, do your research. This is another way car companies get you. You can easily lose all that savings you faught for with a couple percentage points on the financing. Talk to banks and financial institutions. Go through this process at that other dealer, haggling with them on the financing. Choose the option that best suits you. Another huge one, never let them have your number... the only way i know to get them to stop calling is to tell them you bought something else. If they ask for your number, laugh @ them. If you need to call them, block your number 1st. Rubbing the salesmans nose in it is kinda wrong. You gotta see these guys as a best buy TV salesman. Its management you want to rub in it. Management @ a car lot is like the management of a small business. Your rubbing it right in the peoples faces setting the prices. These are the guys that are tracking everything, setting prices, and responsible for the revenue of the building. When i worked as a car salesman, these were the people that were 1 step away from the family that owned multiple dealerships. Family was regional management and higher. When i had customers treat me bad it just hurt, it did nothing to cause change, only pain. My saddest memories of selling cars was mistreatment by customers and feeling forced to call back everyone who left me their number. Now i work in construction. I sell my own work. I focus on providing options, not demands. I encourage customers to get other bids. I tell them my bid might not be the lowest, but the quality of my work is among the highest. If they come back with a low bid and are thinking about not using me, i try to negotiate with them. I do have limits, i dont use illegal labor, i dont live 2 ppl to a room, so i often cant match a low bid. But i can often find a middle common ground with people. All of which are happy @ jobs end, with a high end job like they might see @ the mall. (Which I used to build)

@@hamsterbrigade I've done cross-state trips with the Model 3 that has such low range you can't even buy it anymore (the infamous $35k standard range that wasn't even on the website) and had no problems at all, even though WA is far from the highest charger density. Never had to stop for charging more than once per trip, and never for more than 10 minutes. Literally no time lost, since someone in the car always needed the restroom anyway. But non-Tesla chargers cannot be trusted to exist where needed, can't be trusted to work when they do exist, can't be trusted to charge fast enough when they do work, and are often too expensive, either because the charge for electricity is too high or the vehicle is inefficient or both.

I don't think I've ever heard a positive story about a dealer. lol.. Whether from buying a car there, or taking your car there to get it worked on, or even just buying parts from them. Dealers are to be avoided at all costs. Rich can justify buying this thing, because he can start making videos with it literally immediately (as he did), and he will go on to make so many videos of this thing over time that it will pay for itself anyway. But for me- I avoid dealers.

@@karlkarl5733 that’s how I look at EV’s. It’s not a primary vehicle. For a 2nd or 3rd vehicle, I want something fun. EV’s have only one fun feature, straight line acceleration. But there’s no sole, no engagement and feedback. For most the EV hobby is self gratification and the belief that they are saving the planet. But the carbon foot print for a Tesla vs a Camry as an example takes something like 10yrs/150k miles for the Tesla to come out ahead. That’s assuming mostly renewable resources are used for the power source of the energy too. The cost breakdown of an EV to a similar size gas vehicle will hardly ever break even unless charging is solely done at home assuming energy is cheap.

I think EVs would be great if they were advertised on their performance and silence. But don't tell me that its a "green" vehicle thats going to save the world, because at the moment, it is far from that. Don't get me wrong, the concept is great, but our infrastructure to power these things aren't there yet, and making these EVs aren't pollution free like ICE are. Your rant about how the people aren't ready for EVs yet is spot on. It's exactly why when we got our newest vehicle, we opted for a Pacifica Hybrid. Unplug, drive to work/run errands, get home, plug in. Most daily tasks can be accomplished in EV mode. Need to go on a road trip? Go! Just fill up with gas and keep on going.
@PCgamer923

The government should have started pumping billions into charging infrastructure once plug in hybrds were able to be made in mass affordably. By this point we should have 240-480v charging where you work, where you travel and where you live for a fraction of gasoline costs, but here we are.

Plug in hybrids are much worse than EV‘s, as they are much worse than any EV when it comes to range in electric-drive due to the Large and heavy Motor Block that is mostly (in +90% of times) literally carried around unnecessarily. If those few times you are then actually going on a longer trip into remoter areas, renting a gas vehicle for those Days is outstandingly more cost effective than maintaining an otto-motor just for these few occasions! I am an electrical engineer from this field, and I have written multiple studies about this subject. I myself drive a Renault Zoe since a few years now and I have never regret this choice - it‘s sooo quiet inside 🤫

@@Elektrotechniker we do many over the road trips where it would be inconvenient to stop and charge. I don't know if you actually read my comment properly, as it states we bought a Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid. Show me a pure EV that costs $50,000 USD that can seat 7 with all forward facing seats, and can go halfway across the USA with only 5 fuel/recharge stops. Tesla Model X won't work. Would take 19 stops and a total of 36+ hrs to drive. The vehicle we purchased will only need to stop 5 times and spend 22hrs on the road. I'm also an electrical engineer (I design and program control panels and power distribution panels). Once there's adequate 1000kw charging and the time to charge is 5-10 minutes for 400 miles of range, I would be willing to switch completely over to EV.
@PCgamer923
@PCgamer923 Жыл бұрын
@@Elektrotechniker The average american can understand and use a plug in hybrid effectively using only electric on normal daily use while feeling comfortable taking them on trips as well as you can use electric or gas. There are so few americans that trust pure EV as there are so few charging stations which are very poorly regulated across the nation in comparison to gasoline stations. Maybe if the government actually puts their money where their mouth is things will actually change over the next 20 years. Even looking at maintenance, when you tell someone shopping for an EV the battery last about 10 years and will cost 10k-25k they drop even the idea of buying one.

@@Godfly I have the exact same perspective, but you also have to consider the fact that longer vacation trips can require an extra 2 or 3 days, while you're anxiously awaiting your destination. Nevermind if it was a destination with a time constraint. A gas vehicle would have taken 34 hours to complete that round trip, whereas this took a full extra 24 hours of being in the car, assuming you never slept. Easily added an extra 2-3 days to the trip, which can equate to lost vacation time at best, and at worst, and extra few days of lost income for the average person.

@@aaronkamakaze2967 Tesla is starting to open the network to others cars, in certain places. But they have to be careful about it or they will wreck the network for their own customers. Other EVs have plugs in different places on the car, so some of them have to park in a way that blocks multiple stalls. A lot of them can't handle fast charging, so they can take up a stall for far longer than a Tesla would. Tesla has to make sure that their own chargers don't get overloaded this way, or everyone gets screwed. What's really needed is for the gov and/or other manufacturers to throw money at Tesla to expand their network much faster, and for other manufacturers to build their cars to optimally utilize Tesla's chargers.

Costs me like $10 for a full 'tank', wouldn't go back to a gas burner for my day-to-day activity. Road trips, gotta plan those out very carefully. Even though this video's over a year old and charger coverage is getting better, I just drove cross country last summer and went entire time zones where it was 90 miles between chargers. You almost want a gas burner just so you don't get stuck because an app said you can charge someplace and you get there and find out you can't.

I think it's about time you put an industrial size diesel generator in the bed of the truck. Charge on the go.

I've often wondered how many EV owners have tried this with a 3-5 kW gas generator. But to take it a step further, I wonder how many kW would be needed to keep it charged while driving. An industrial diesel unit would be hilarious to see. Someone like whistlindiesel would probably do it 😂
