Lots of RR fans coming out of the woodwork to show their true colors. Rich - you're late to the anti-racism party (at least on a public level), but I'm glad you're here now. The fact that people in 2020 can STILL deny that racism is a huge problem in America will perhaps never get it. All the more reason to stand your ground. Don't let their ignorance/privilege dissuade you from continuing to explore this vital topic.

Anthony Fox What you don’t realize is that no one supports racism. The debate is over whether it exists or not, and this podcast did nothing to show that it existed. If anything, it promoted a black supremacy and entitlement platform

This was a great discussion. I didn't catch Knox's first appearance on your podcast and I found his perspective fascinating, especially towards the end when he referenced coming from a place of love. That level of love is very much in need right now as we navigate this transitional period of cleaning up the lingering messes that humanity have made. But I also believe that we'll be fine on the other side of this as it will allow us to finally move forward as a nation, and hopefully as a planet. Thanks so much for the post.

Hi I want to give a word of my appreciation of your podcast. It's transparent the amount of thought, dedication and hard work behind it, and the result couldn't be better. It's enlightening to hear your conversations. The diversification of themes, the amazing and carefully picked guests, allied with the natural flood conversation, fill me with knowledge every time and make it one of the best podcasts I ever encounter. I'm not American, but your approach to the situation there must be very appreciated. My knowledge of the historic and politic context of this struggle and suffering increases exponentially with every episode. Keep up with the much appreciated good work

History is brutal and there are many immigrants whose families experienced similar or more brutal pasts than black people. I agree that the truth should be told. I see far too often that people are using history as an excuse to riot or getting some compensation. My home country just took over Hong Kong's government because of history and I think that was as bad as what some of the BLM protesters are demanding.

I liked some of the topics, but I really didn’t understand what he was getting at with cultural appropriation. So if white people can’t have hairstyles invented in Africa, does that mean that black people shouldn’t wear fashion invented in Italy? How come it’s cultural appropriation only if white people do it?

Really excited to listen to this episode -- I agree it's hilarious how so many people are going to read White Fragility later on some futuristic Saturday. It's great to hear this conversation about race, life experiences and just hearing all of these great resources. I'm def adding The Revolt of the Black Athlete, High Flying Bird (it was shot with an iPhone8! from its Wikipedia - "The film was shot using an iPhone 8 smartphone, equipped with an anamorphic lens produced by Moondog Labs, while utilizing the FiLMic Pro video app") Super awesome. I'll also be reading and digesting "On the Pulse of Morning" by Maya Angelou, one interesting piece of the poem is here: The Rock cries out to us today, You may stand upon me, But do not hide your face. To everyone saying there is no substance here, you sound like that kid in school that didn't do their homework and doesn't understand the lesson.

This conversation is making it worse. Rich Roll - he rolls over at every possible negative suggestion towards white people and even puts words in his guest's mouth. He said black men are disproportionately imprisoned - well, if a group commit a massively disproportionate amount of crime, that's gonna happen so it cancels out the word disproportionate. Arbery? The convicted thief? The one who took a gun to his high school? The guy who purposely attacked and tried to steal a gun off a man after being caught on camera trespassing? He's a saint, right?

@anythingtogetregiste
@anythingtogetregiste 4 жыл бұрын
@@davidpaul286 It's wrong to use the word 'deserved' because what he got was clearly not pre-planned. One man tries to steal a gun off another and it goes off, hardly something that was planned and decided upon beforehand. What kind of intellect tries to grab a loaded gun off someone by taking the end where the bullets come out? Would you try that? I mean, what could possibly go right?

anythingtogetregiste You’re talking about a group that was disproportionately on the receiving end of a lot of things, i.e. slavery, terrorism, lynchings, I could go on. The willfully ignorant always seem to leave those things out. The history of what was done to those people is disgusting, but now worries it’s all coming out.

the states are not the only ones devided, individuals are divided in a individualist society. 99% of that countries population doesn't care about others, like at all. half the country could simply disappear, the second half would cry about it reflectively and then after few days forget about it. This is what you get for extreme individualism
@drugsorme2714
@drugsorme2714 4 жыл бұрын
The way I think about individualism is to get to know a person as an unique person instead of a victim or oppressor or whatnot based on his/skin color. Also to take care of yourself first, then your family, then your community.

Ahmaud Arbery wasn’t just “out for a jog”!!!! He was committing a CRIME!!! He was trespassing on private property, and in a private home that he should not have been in. And according to witnesses and video footage ...was not the first time he had been there. He was up to no good and put himself into a confrontational situation with neighborhood watch. STOP making criminals look like they were not doing anything wrong. Should they have gunned him down for being a criminal- no. But why do all these black people keep putting themselves into criminal situations??? Why aren’t we also asking THAT QUESTION???

I have listened the whole episode. I was up for giving up on it few times during that listening. In so manny places pointless, as my school teachers would say "pouring water' which meat talking a lot but without any value of the words that has been said. Specifically I had "hold on a sec" moments. like when he was telling about his son and playstation(or xbox, not sure but definitely some game box) and eventually further down him telling the story I could not take out clearly(so correct me if I am wrong) he did buy that game for his son?... who he suspected that is not legal, probably stolen and would be good example to explain the child the wrongdoing of getting such things in such ways but rather do it legal way. I was listening and waiting him to say " i did not buy it for him and i did explain to him why" .If he did than you lost me here as buying this is supporting the thief and his/hers actions. I have very few things in my life I come from poor big family with alcoholism in the house but my parents never ever would allow me to take away or get things this way. 2Nd a hairdo for marathon is offensive? Are we really having discussing as such?Also following about music painters and his issues with all that. Wasn't it suppose to be to find solution how to make it equal in regards police brutality? Oh right it starts from centuries ago, that disconnection. An you lost me again when talking about the time he says about how 'inspiring ' for him was to see '2 black sisters" (paraphrasing) having "F the white supremacy" ... well I know people who find people who create and actually make a change for better rather than posing for photo to be insta or social media famous for the sake of some ''cool photo'. To me i could say I have waisted the time to listen but at the same time I have learned where is the issue of moving forward. To add For so long even you Rich Roll was talking to people about the limits we have in our heads that either someone else around us or ourselves as we heard this limits around us but once we will understand that putting work and effort can take you wherever you want and yes obstacles will be on the way but it is upon each of us to find the way. I am tired to be told how nasty i am with my privillage . IT is all generalising from him and many others that i keep hearing. but wasn't it that they were saying that unjust general approach that all of them are thieves and criminals. I could keep hating and screaming and destroying and blaming everyone in my life who treated me as stupid as I have stupid parents as they have many kids. I also may put whole blame on teachers who looked at me not worthy as i wont bring suff to them or get things done elsewhere as my parent don't have connections, i may blame other kids who were not fancy to be friends with me. the fact that i had toilet outside till i was about 6yrs old and started working for nearby farmers at the age of 10 to earn some money to buy some extra notebook so I would not have to use 1 for 2 subjects at the school or just to buy my own shoes and not to wear after my sisters or extra pair of trousers so i would not have to handwash to have it clean the next day ... bla bla bla... and i did it for some time, I blamed many people, i still put small portion on all that as no doubt it would be easier to go further in my life, but at some point I or you must realise that in order to move on you must accept the past as it was and focuse on the present and make the best of all and create opportunities to be able to move to better future. Create do not destroy. Build do not crash. Best to all to have better.

START HERE: Give (all) others the benefit of the doubt. Be polite. Show respect. Understand their point. Appreciate it when others act accordingly. Lastly, if you're white, be humble.
