What some people might not know is that it wasn't just his left arm. He almost lost his other arm as well, he was severely injured. This would have knocked out a lot of people, but Rick left the hospital in a matter of weeks not months as expected. He is a shining example of sheer will, determination and spirit. This band is also the hallmark of what it should be like, standing together..always, not splitting at the first sign of trouble. Bands of today, should take note. Not only a great band, but an amazing group of men (shame on those who disliked this)!!
@JRwrong10 ай бұрын
Rick had a rubber footpad so that he could push himself up. His brother brought him a stereo so that he could listen to music while he was in the hospital. Rick found himself keeping the beat and using his left foot when he should use his left hand. He had a stupid idea, and all so thankful for that “stupid” idea.

This video is on the Mirrorball cd The DVD is the only thing lve been able to watch because l don't have a CD player and Joe if you don't stop talking about this poor guy hes going to wind up getting electrocuted because you guys are performing with electricity and he has an electric drum kit right? well a river of his own tears and electricity dont mix l dont know l try to use your music to cheer me up because last night I had another hospital trip because my chest which is where my ulcer was but last night l called 911 myself because nobody would listen to me They were doing the same thing they did 2 months ago waiting for something to happen When I called them one of them started acting like the staff members here he was giving me a hard time about the situation like he didn't believe me either l went to the hospital and had another test done and this one showed the opposite of the one I had done before the first time they said that it was in my chest and it was a nonbleeding ulcer well last night t had a different procedure done and it showed that the ulcer was a bleeding ulcer in my stomach. I don't know who to believe because these tests tell me different things l wish there was a way you guys could come back to Florida in Lake CITY and somehow have a show just in this group home for me really because the others don't understand they are all mentally disabled

I've been drumming for most of my life. For those of you that don't play drums, you have no idea what it would be like to relearn your instrument. I'm glad that the technology was available for him to figure out how to not let losing an arm get take him out of music. He didn't pity himself very long before he set about figuring a way around an obstacle. He can still play & still does a great job. I'd love to think I would have had that kind of tenacity.

His phenomenal comeback is the true human spirit to fight for your dreams..and most importantly your LIFE...I still remember going to the concert for the Hysteria tour and was amazed to watch him play once again with his new (at the time) modified drum set...I may not know him personally...but from the interview clips...it took that horrific accident for him to realize life is too short...never take anything for granted...I praise Def Leppard for being there for him....and waiting for him to be ready to rock on again with them...when the time was right and HE was ready....both mentally and physically...WE LOVE YOU RICK ALLEN!!! However I was bitterly disappointed by Joe Elliot when they played Brisbane Entertainment Centre for the Hysteria Tour when he told us that we were pathetic because we couldn't make as much noise as Sydney and that they would not come back again.... and they didn't! He was Booed by his Fans, The same Fans as myself that cued and stood in line for their Midnight Album release of Hysteria and paid good money to see them in concert. I will NEVER forget........
