There's a difference between abuse and discipline. Not to throw in the race card, but I think it needs to be brought up due to different people being raised differently. I know as a black man, a lot of people from my past grew up with fear of consequences because if your parent didn't whoop you then another family member would. I was never hit unless I was out of line or did something I shouldn't have been. I did knew some people who NEVER received disciple and most of them are not doing so hot right now; jail, multiple kids, no job, etc. I'm not saying it is IMPOSSIBLE to be a generally good and successful person as you grow up without physical disciple, but that was just how I was raised. I just turned 27 last month and I have no kids or a wife. I do sometimes think about how I'll raise kids (if I ever have any). Will I do what my parents did? Not entirely because there are some things I wish were different. Overall, I was taught that certain actions had certain consequences.
@doresrules286 жыл бұрын
@Fidel chavez No, the military would just run you until you threw up. Literally break you mentally with drills as discipline. A football coach would run you or put you thru drills and if that does not work both of those institutions have the ability to let you go. Surely we aren't suggesting kids be let go by parents? There certainly are other means of discipline parents can instill but I would rather a parent whoop their child than allow the judicial system to.

You must hold your kids accountable for their actions, or inactions, because if not. They'll grow up not respecting authorities, who will hold them accountable, and it could cost more than what they're willing to pay . It's enforcing what we teach them, so that they'll adopt our principles in what is right, and what's wrong. I tell my 15 year old son all the time, that I have the physical advantage on him right now. I also let him know I'd rather talk to him to get my point across, but he knows I will put my hands on him, and at his age he doesn't get ass whoopings, he gets ass kickings. Better you hold em accountable, before some trigger happy racist cop does. Just my 2 pennies....

It got to that point due to the fact how they was raised if there were in a abusive home environment they say I don't want to beat my children because I got beat, yes there is a way to discipline your kids without physically hurting them and sometimes you have to put a little physical threat in them to let them know who has Authority in the house especially with today's society and social media raising Children's today has to come with a deeply thought-out plan.

Exactly Rickey! There's a ddifference between chastising your kids bcoz you love and care about what COULD happen to them as oppose to beating & abusing them due to awful parenting!!

Disciplining a child IS NOT AN ABUSIVE BEHAVIOR! Time Out really does not work on ALL children! Discipline & Structure or key to raising children to be functioning adults in society.

Go a head Ricky I'm with you do what you got to do, people just don't understand that the way we were brought up was the best way to raise your children. Our parents knew how to knock some sense into us and keep us on the straight and narrow. This is why our generation did not go around shooting up places and killing people just because . It's like the wild wild west out here now a days.

You have to start discipline your children when they are young from a toddler on up. You can wait until they are in junior high school and now you want to put hands on them in this day and age, they will put hands on you! If you don't teach them young you just might lose your opportunity, because the influence from their peers are so strong you will easily lose your child to the that or to the streets. Ricky has a great point. I was raised in the era where you got a whooping if you did something you should not be doing. When I was in school corporal punishment was allowed, you act up in school you would get squats from the teacher. Today's kids have it harder because there is no consequences that will make a difference

@Reen The judge and court system is not playing with them neither.. locking them up.. building new prisons everyday... Money making business... Trust me.. just so sad 😢😭.. our very young boys/ girls.. streets volience... Over nothing bunch of bull crap..teacher can't teach school peace.. teacher just passing the kids along just to pass them... SMH Lord save this generation 😮

@@alicewashington220 the Bible even says spare the rod spoil the child. Kids need to be disciplined but now you can go to jail for spanking/whoops your child, some need it more than others: They took prayer out of the schools trying to keep God out and allowing the devil to come in and wreak havoc on our children. Sad, and we wonder why kids are so disrespectful at times and for some parents all the time

I went to school at the tail end of the spankings (No pun intended) in my elementary school years. They would give you a permission slip if the principal could spank you. Mr.Shateen had a paddle with holes in it to go through the air quicker. He even had a small stepping stool so you would go up and depending how many paddles you were owed 1 through 5 paddles were hit on your ass. Never got hit myself but I did witness a friend of mine once. BTW my mom signed the permission slip happily.. Thank her for it and all the beatdowns she gave me. Made me respect and honor hard work and respect for elders to name a few.
