Night Gallery was also a show that had many creepy thriller episodes. Also the made for tv movie of short stories-Trilogy of Terror. I will never forget that terrifying artifact chasing Karen Black around her apartment! 😣

I thought that was a Mecury. My grandfather had a 1958 Mercury that he used as a daily driver well into the 1970s. Must have been a good car.

The car Inger Stevens is driving is a ‘59 Mercury Parklane four door hardtop. I’ve always wondered though why the car was missing its vent windows. 🤔 That would have been a new car at the time that was made so it’s interesting that it was rigged that way.

Plastiksurgeon See, now I thought it was a ‘59 Mercury Montclair. I tend to the guy who looks for more Ford, Mercury & Lincoln classics at car shows because the amount of GM cars present (although I love many of them as well) as opposed to Ford is usually about a 7:1 ratio. Even more uncommon are Desotos, Plymouth’s, Dodges, Chryslers, etc. I’ve seen more Packards at some shows than I’ve seen Chrysler products.

Continental Aquatics That could have been a Montclair.....but seeing it was a four door hardtop, I was thinking a Parklane. I’m VERY familiar with that car as I was nearly run over by one of those as a little kid back in the early ‘60’s! 😵 That front end was unforgettable even though at the time I had no idea what kind of car it was. 😉

I know that from a tv show done before the T-Zone, One Step Beyond, because they do an episode about him and what happened to him and then they have an interview with the real Robin Hughes at the end. Absolutely!! A funny anecdote about the effect of that one episode: we had a horrible boss at work, I’ll call ‘Lori’. She would just capriciously fire people, often people that upstaged her or illustrates her deep incompetence. We hired an ‘outside’ consultant to examine our internal problems and someone, in a high visibility meeting, invoked this episode as it related to Lori. That ‘got legs’ right up to the ‘top’ as a few big ‘decision makers’ remembered the horrific episode. Lori was subsequently fired and we believe that citing the episode and her similarities obsoleted the need for specific documentation and hastened her demise....we nicknamed her Antonia Fremont !!

Hi Rick. The Twilight Zone series is my all time favorite. One of my favorites ( the title excapes me at the moment) is with Agnes Moorhead and she is alone in a house when t would small aliens crash there Space Craft into her attic. Truly suspenseful.

I’m not sure if it was Twilight Zone but I remember a episode of a program with William Shatner and he was on an airplane in a window seat and a devilish demon was appearing on the wing of the plane. I was always scared when I watched that one.

Creepiest IMO is the episode where a woman going on a trip but her doppleganger shows up haunting her at the bus station. You have a good list though. I've only seen 22 once but I can barely remember the ending. I'll have to watch again.

Classic 5 creepy episodes! The one in the wax museum scared the crap out of me, when I was a kid. It definitely gave me nightmares. I would also add the other episode with Bil Mumy entitled "It's A Good Life"

I was never a fan of Twilight Zone as a kid because it creeped me out. I must admit though, there were so many big stars, or soon to be big stars, in many episodes. The filming was top notch and it really seems like a genre unto itself. I know fans of the series and they are into the show as much as Trekies. I love Twilight Zone! It's the TV show that sparked my love of creative writing. One thing, though... When I was doing time at Radio Shack in L.A. Billy Mumy would come in, sometimes with his two kids. He was a laid back, easy-going individual, as were his kids. But he made it clear to me that his name is pronounced "Moomy, Moomy," when I first met him. He was cool about it and said he got "Mummy" all the time. Just a little tidbit. Great video! :)

I agree ROOM 22 (Room for one more!) was very creepy. Arlene Martell as the lady in the morgue was neat. She played T'Pring, Spock's fiancee, in the Star Trek TOS episode Amok Time. Talking Tina also sent shivers up my spine. It kinda had you wondering until the end of the episode IF the doll really was alive OR did Telly Savalas make it up in his mind. By the way, the voice of Talking Tina was performed by lovely June Foray who ALSO was the voice of Rocky Squirrel from Bullwinkle fame as well as the voice of Cindy Lou Who from the animated classic "How The GRINCH Stole Christmas"!

@@lauragriffin6512 Night gallery had some good ones also, one episode that I loved was one where a women gets lost, and goes up to a house, where everything was modern and futuristic, there was a radio playing , which had some weird music. anyway the catch was, that the person in the house was her son and she was in the future. what made me remember this episode was the "strange" music that played on that radio, which was actually ahead of it's time, it was techno !

Rick, I am happy you praised Gladys Cooper. She was a vastly underrated actress who never got a starring role in films. She headlines my fave TZ ep: Nothing in the Dark. My vote for creepiest TZ ep is The After Hours. To this day, the scene of Anne Francis on the floor of the dept store that has only one saleslady, as well as only one item for sale, gives me the shivers.

The hitch hiker creeped me out and still does to no end... sends shivers up my spine, the way he looked, nothing evil but the actress stopping to make phone calls, i always wished she would go to a city and get help from people but they had her driving back roads at night and that hitch hiker there all along the way!!!! I do agree that these are all creepy episodes. There are two others I can think of that are creepy (at least to me). “The After Hours”, which also involves mannequins, and “You Drive”, which involves an old car that seems to think and come to life. The Hitch-Hiker and Living Doll are two of my favourite episodes. I re-watched them recently.

In the first episode you highlighted, Rick, the scene at the gas station pump was very earth shattering. The small sign in the background indicated gas was .32 cents a gallon. Yikes!

One of the ones I loved (because of being creepy) since I was a child was the one about the little girl falling off the bed during the night and disappearing into the wall. Her father goes in after her and pulls her back out. That one just seemed so real to me.

I saw the episode with Inger Stevens a few years ago, and yes, it REALLY creeped me out. And of course the episode where William Shatner sees "something" on the wing of the airplane....is right up there for Creepy Crown. I think that the neatest thing that Rod Serling did with this show was his look at both sides of a situation. Agnes Morehead sees tiny space invaders on her roof in one episode. In another episode there are space invaders that make earthlings look tiny when the earthlings land on a strange planet. BTW, lucky Bill Mumy, manages to get several roles and turns them into cult classics/fan favorites. Bravo, Mr Mumy.

As a fan of Rod Selling and the Twilight Zone I thought it was a good time to give everyone some backround about his death. He passed away at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester NY. I knew a nurse that was the wife of my neighbor when I lived in Rochester NY. She worked there 30 years and told me that she worked the floor Mr. Serling spent his last days. She told me after his passing several staff members saw him standing in the hallway several times over a few weeks. The staff discussed this among themselves and management told them not to discuss any of what they saw as not to draw publicity and unwanted attention to the hospital. She swears she saw him just standing there not moving or saying anything. These people are serious professional caregivers and not prone to ghosts or anything like this. It was never made public.

When I was a teenager the Serling family used to frequent the restaurant I worked at near their Cayuga Lake summer home, the waitresses letting the kitchen staff know by voicing the Twilight Zone theme or saying "We're in the Twilight Zone!", one simply saying "Grim Reaper nearby!" in reference to Mr. Serling's repeated use of the multitude of forms the Reaper might take on to literally scare people to death to meet his quota. Indeed, seems the most creepy episodes were related to his, or our, obsession with death and the predictability but unpredictability of a person's demise. Did he have insight most of us thankfully lack?

@@lazyhomebody1356 I presently live just West of Cayuga Lake in the Finger Lake region and know there is a ley line that goes through the Southern parts of the Finger Lakes. Ley lines historically often have ancient settlements along the lines around the world as it's believed these lines of energy opens the mind to earth energies and other worlds in doing so. This whole thread has got me interested in where Rods Summer home on Cayuga Lake is actually located.

all these episodes were creepy for sure and I have to agree that ''22'' was really disturbing the first time I watched it years ago and it still holds up well to this day. I thought that the doctor in this episode played by jonathan harris was really weird and strange and made this episode all the more creepy! nothing like his character on lost in space. thanks again for another great video!

The Hitchhiker is my most creepiest, hands down! Just watching these shots made my skin crawl. And at the end when he says, "Going my way?" Gives me the creeps just thinking about it!

I go way back with TZ, all the way back to its first run, and I can't believe how young I was watching this sometimes very creepy show. On KZbin there are many TZ related videos and I think you're one of the best commentators. Even when I would choose different episodes as creepy, for example, I enjoy your discussion. I'll just add that my personal favorite TZ episode, and for me the creepiest, is the highly underrated "And When the Sky was Opened". I love how weird and unsettling it is; how fate seems to be catching up with these guys and nothing can stop it. The acting is great too. I certainly understand why you'd find "22" so creepy, but the way.

"The Hitch Hiker!" I could never find what series this episode emanated from. Thanks for the 411 on this. It was a terrific episode. My favorites were ( in no particular order) are the episode in which Agnes Morehead played a woman who could not speak, when aliens land on the roof of her house. Her acting is spectacular. And what a shocking ending... I also loved the episode where a woman is suffering because the Earth is coming closer and closer to the sun. I think that Lois Nettleton was in that episode, and again, the ending is a shocker. My all time favorite might be the one where an elderly woman has barricaded her home to protect her from Mr. Death. Robert Redford is in this episode, and it is one of the best television episodes ever. It made my cry. The William Shatner episode, where a creature is trying to do damage to an airplane that he is riding in is a given as a classic episode. The Swimming Pool episode is also great. Two children have parents that hate each other and want to get a divorce. they jump into their swimming pool and come up in a different land, where all of the children are happy. They eventually feel as though they need to go back home, but once they see that their parents are making life miserable for them and each other, they go back into the pool and permanently live in this other land that they had come up from under the water. I have many more to write about (I am sure), but it has been years since I have seen a Twilight Zone episode. Maybe I will dedicate myself to binge watching the entire series, which I have on DVD, to name other all time favorites

Enjoyed this video enough to cause me to take a look at the episodes you mentioned. I recall the Telly Savalas episode very well, the Inger Stevens one a little less so, but the others I have no recollection of whatsoever. I really shied away from the hour long episodes produced that one year because I felt the quality was just not up to par, but I'll give the museum one a try.

"Stop over in a quiet town" is very scary. Can you imagine finding yourself on some aliens platform? On a different planet and being tiny? and for the rest of your life? Suppose you get sick? Suppose you need a operation? Suppose your spouse dies and your all alone? We don't know what's out there, scary.

I am _such_ a TZ fan (but I’m a black-and-white snob...the later color versions made without Mr. Serling are...to me...but sad wannabe knockoffs). I have seen each and every B&W episode at least 10 times each, and I NEVER grow bored with them. To be completely honest, a small few of the old episodes are definitely a swing-and-a-miss, but I’ll still watch them, of course! Just a chance to put my two cents in, it’s so difficult for me to pick one or a few of my faves, but the one that stands out right now for me is the 30th episode in Season 3, titled _Hocus-Pocus and Frisby_ starring the man whose voice I can never get enough of, Andy Devine, as the biggest liar in the world (and ALMOST the universe). Pair him with Howard McNair (aka Floyd the Barber from TAGS) and Dabbs Greer (the Reverend from the Little House series) and this is simply a delight to watch! It was also originally aired in 1962 (which is my year of birth)! BTW, I must agree wholeheartedly with your choices, Rick, and I thank you for bringing up this subject!

I agree about the creepiness of "Twenty-Two". It's one of the Twilight Zone episodes that is way under-appreciated, and hardly ever seems to make anyone's "top ten" list, but is very creepy, just the same. Another creepy and under-appreciated episode: "Little Girl Lost".

The Invaders with Agnes Morehead (Season 2; Episode 15) is an episode that always creep'd me out. No dialog or script, but gave me chills. Agnes Morehead plays poor elderly woman living with nothing is attacked by little aliens from a space ship that land on her roof. She is terrified and does her best to defend herself against these aliens. She manages to kill them, but in the final scene we learn the aliens are Americans from NASA and are space explorers! She is a giant on another planet.

I watched the Twilight Zone as a child & all episodes creeped me out. I'd get scared & have nightmares but I still was fascinated! Now as an adult, the nightmares & fear are gone but the creepiness is still there,. Thanks Rick for another great video!!
