Willoughby was emotional. The last one about the children in the pool that go under water to a lovely place for unloved children and most of the ones you mentioned. I don't remember seeing the one about the man and his dog or the one with Robert Redford...and I thought I had seen them all.

My favorite and should be an honorable mention is " Mr. Denton on doomsday." The end is so profound. He pulls one man out of the gutter, and keeps another one from falling in. He gives Denton a second chance in life. Who among us wouldn't jump at the chance to correct our past mistakes?

To me, one of the most emotional episodes was The Changing of the Guard, with Donald Pleasence. The writing in this was fantastic, especially when the ghosts of the students express their appreciation for the mark the professor left on each of them. Another very emotional one for me was In Praise of Pip. It really shows the love of a father for his son. Jack Klugman plays the father, Bill Mumy, plays Pip as a child, and Bobby Diamond plays Private Pip. The ending shows, just like The Changing of the Guard, that the father left his mark on his son. Thank you. Great channel you have here Rick.

Great video Rick! These are very special episodes and there are many others which I love as well but there are way too many to remember so if you can cover all or most of them here and there, that would be fantastic. I especially enjoyed the one about the player piano which the husband presented to his wife as a birthday present. I also love the one about the masks as well. I look forward to more episodes for you to cover.

Hi Rick. Loved your choices. I'd have to include 'Willoughby'. It is personally one of my favorites on many levels. I do believe, though, you are truly picking the most emotional* (just like you tell us, lol) episodes. But Willoughby was very emotional to me, although it was more sad than what I think you are aiming for here. In Willoughby, we feel for this poor man all the way through, with his shrewish wife and his awful boss. And it's a tearjerker at the end. But you get the idea this man is truly in heaven, so Willoughby being a funeral home doesn't seem as bad. I like your selections. I have some of the seasons of The Twilight Zone, but not all and I haven't seen several of the ones you bring up. I am looking forward to watching them now. Thank you!!

“Walking Distance,” in my opinion is one of the best episodes of television period. The haunting score by Bernard Hermann, brilliant cinematography, and acting between Gig Young’s Martin Sloan and Frank Overton as his father . It was one of Rod Serling’s most personal stories, dealing with his loss of childhood innocence growing up in Binghamton NY, after he goes off to war, the loss of his father, and the escapism of the past, but knowing you must live in the present.

My favorite of your choices is Walking Distance. Gig Young is running to encounter his younger self on the merry go round and he is calling out, Martin, Martin! I always seem to project myself into the episode and I feel as if he is talking directly to me! (My first name is Martin.) And to be able to talk with your parents (maybe both passed on in his present life) is truly emotional. I actually hope Rick you are reading this. It is interesting that in 6 and 5, the theme is the carefree childhood. Today, that paradigm has shifted. We hear childhood described as a time of "baggage" and "disfunctions." Today, few would long to relive their childhoods. Those years are thought of as more complicated than their adulthoods.... I must admit I have never seen the Robert Redford as death episode. That sounds like a remarkable message, not to fear the inevitable end of life. My grandparents both lived long and very full lives and both were ready to go when their times came.

All of these episodes are some of my personal favorites. Especially "Walking Distance" (I can recite every line). Definitely makes me realize how much we need to enjoy our lives. And next one of my faves is "Night of the Meek" because I think many want to be the "biggest gift giver" during the holidays. Especially to people who need it most. And honorable mention goes to "A Stop @ Willoughby". Because life is stressful & I don't know anyone who hasn't felt the need to escape. (Or is it just me?!? 🤔🙄😶

"perhaps there'll be an occasion - maybe a summer night sometime - when he'll look up from what he's doing and listen to the distant music of a calliope, and hear the voices and the laughter of the people and the places of his past. And perhaps across his mind, there'll flit a little errant wish, that a man might not have to become old, never outgrow the parks and the merry-go-rounds of his youth." It's my 2nd favorite & makes me cry every darn time I see it. I even named my cat Martin.

There is one episode that nevers seems to feature in these lists people make. The Long Morrow where an astronaut is sent on a fifty year mission where he will be frozen for the entirety of the journey there and back, except to work at the destination before returning home. He knows the woman he loves will be in her seventies when he returns so during the flight he has set the pod to release him shortly after take off so they will be the same age when he returns. You can guess what happens, for me it is one of the most moving episodes , and certainly up there with Nothing in the Dark.

I find "I Sing the Body Electric" a very emotional episode, especially since it relates to the death of the family's mother. The night after my mom's memorial service I was staying at my sister's house and watching MeTV, and the network reran this episode that night. I shed a few tears, which I didn't shed during the memorial service, especially when the grandmother mentioned that she knew that the father had lost his mother at a young age, same as his kids had.

Loved the Time Enough episode with Burgess Meredith one of my top 5 favorites! I love your phrase Rick life throws you a curve. I consider the English actress Gladys Cooper outstanding in television and movies and though she is great acting here as usual I didn't like this episode. The one with Ed Wynn One For the Angels is very touching.

For me, the most powerfully emotional Twilight Zone, without a doubt, is Jack Klugman getting the word from the military that his son, named Pip, has just died "in a place called South Vietnam. And there's not even supposed to be a war going on there." Pip appears to him as a child again, and Klugman's character refuses to let go, refuses to accept what has happened. It's riveting and sad. And was this episode ever prophetic! The public was forewarned, whether Rod Serling intended to or not, about a war we'd live with constantly.

The most emotional has to be In Praise of Pip, hands down. How can you not cry after seeing that episode. I love Willoughby, but I dont' find it that emotional. In Praise of Pip. No question!

Of all the emotional moments in the Twilight Zone I think is my favorite was the episode in season 3 episode 31 called the "Trade-Ins". It's about an old couple who have a second chance in life by transferring there Souls into younger bodies.

Soooooo very well done. I love Kick the Can and your No. 1 with Redford. And from a woman's point of view...who would not want to take the hand of the young Robert Redford?

So many people like The Willoughby episode. I am in contrast where I cant stand the episode. I see it as dark and too morbid for my liking

P.S. 'Time Enough at Last' is also one of my all-time favorites. I think the person who wrote this episode has to have given us something that defines the word 'Ironic' to the hilt.
