As I justed stated on Rick Steves' other KZbin channel, the frightening parallels between what led to the events in Italy, Germany, and Spain in the 1920s and 1930s and the outcome of our recent 2024 US elections are both undeniably similar and ominously prescient. Moreover, we've learned nothing from those events, nor have we implemented measures to prevent them from happening again.

Rick is full of frijoles as is anyone else who can state such contradictory things without realizing it, people are calling those fascist who seek to decrease the power of government. Let that sink in a minute.

This is bit of surprise coming from Rick. Nevertheless all who value 'fragile' democracy ought to learn the lessons of history as otherwise it would repeat itself. As Sir Winston Churchill once famously said, “Democracy is the worst form of government except for all others.”

@@WouldntULikeToKnow.: There is a difference on how historians explain the history of their very own country and how historians of other countries explain the history of this particular country. In school, we learn much more details about how Hitler came to power within the political system, sometimes leaving out things like Hitlers "Arbeitsprogramme", the work programs he reduced unemployment with.

Rick, thank you. This video I saw much earlier on your channel, nonetheless it is better to renew it from time to time. Even in XXI century we see the same things like "setting on fire in Reichstag" to undermine reputation of certain people and impose a strict laws, restricting civil rights, which otherwise nation would have never accepted. This example is not the only from Nazi experience, which is used nowadays in different countries. Seizure of power in democratic way and afterwards leading to usurpation we also can find in modern history. "If you take freedom for granted, you can lose it" Greetings from Russia!

You do realize that powerful globalist forces are trying to undermine Russia under the guise of "freedom" and "democracy"? Check out Yuri Bezmenov's videos. He warned us Americans 40 years ago about the leftist subversion process. It's too late for us, but please save Russia!
