That was an Elvis play back! You can't find it on the net but you should hear him sing Elvis! "I'll love this world loving you"! He also wrote children's books! Look it up! Yes all the classics were in that room!

Ricky has/had one of the finest voices period. When you were struggling to explain the fact that he doesn't have typical Country twang, all you have to say is that he is Elvis-like in that respect. Elvis sang all types of music, but when it came to Country music he was devoid of an accent. When he did it, it couldn't be called strictly Country anyway. Elements of Soul and Pop were present. Ricky was certainly surrounded by stars : BJ Thomas, Larry Gatlin, Crystal Gayle and Lorrie Morgan to name a few. To feature the best songs of that group would occupy you for a long, long time.

The man to RVS's right in the rhinestone suit was Porter Wagner. It was on his show in the late 60s early 70s that introduced Dolly Parton to the world. Dolly's "I Will Always Love You" was her tribute to Porter.

This is a country music song, not every one has to be sung with a twang (there are many not). Ricky Van Shelton recorded it in 1989, Jack Greene in 1969. They both sang it together at Fan Fair, the second time on Ralph Emery's show. I think Jack Greene was very impressed. RVS has had the most beautiful singing voice in country music. He is retired, fans have wanted him to perform again.

I took mom and grandma to see RVS when grandma was 90. Ricky was by far her favorite singer. My husband had to carry her to her seat, she had the time of her life. She cried when he sang, "I'll leave this world loving you" because that song reminded her of granddaddy who had died 15 years before. RVS holds a special place in my heart, his voice is so clear and beautiful.

This is an old classic country song originally by Jack Greene. Yes, indeed the ones around him and providing some back-up were a virtual whos-who of classic old school country singers. Don't feel bad about not knowing them, I can't put a name to all of them either and I would know their music when I hear it.

There was a time when people would have RVS plates to put on their car. He had a HUGE impact on country music . A lot of his songs won over fans that never liked country. I remember seeing I LOVE RVS on license plates in back Windows a lot. There's something special about him and when he was on top he packed every place he played. He has always seemed kind of shy but when he took the stage all he had to do was sing without all the jumping around. It didn't matter. His talent is special and so is he.His song Life turned her that way is used a lot by domestic violence advocates. He recorded a lot of songs with so much meaning !

Yes!! He was one of those really good country acts that arrived on the scene toward the end of the 80s, I always loved his voice - kinda smooth and "croony" rather than super-twangy country.
