And then find out that on the weekends and sometime thru the week, the Forman slips home or at least off the job site at 10am and comes back at 5:30 to make sure no one left early. And then find out as long as someone is working on his crew the Forman, whether he is there or not is getting payed so someone is always working late 7 days a week.

@@kittenwizard4703 I’ve worked for the carpenters union and it sucks. Your nothing more than a number to them and I’ve seen guys take time off and they get laid off the next week. I work at for a contractor now renovating houses/framing and I’m actually being able to use my woodcraft skills and I can say I’m substantially happier with life, Anyone can take time off and around holidays they usually give us extra days before and after off paid, along with a Christmas party with a bonus and prizes to win. Once the work runs dry the union lays off everyone and on rare occasion when it gets slow my boss pays you to organize the shop or will find something for you to do just to keep you working and makes sure we get our minimum 40. LMAO... About Fax machines, I had to work with this one Dingbat who would get an email with 24x36 and 30x42 drawings, then print them out on 8.5x11, then fax them to my office because she hadn't ever heard of forwarding an email. This was in 2018. She asked me if I had gotten her fax, I told her no because I don't accept faxed over drawings to work off of, they're illegible. She went on to tell me how the last guy whom I had replaced would accept them, so I told her, I'm not that guy, I'm me and I won't accept them in that format, I need them in a full sized format, either physical or digital. That's when I found out she didn't know how to forward the drawings. I tried to help her and she made every excuse in the book as to why it was too difficult. Then I offered to get her set up with Dropbox and she said, "I've talked to many other people in our industry about this Dropbox thing, and they all confirmed that it's the most difficult program to use." I told her, "If using modern technology is that difficult for her or anyone else, because forwarding and email and using Dropbox are probably 2 of the easiest things to do and are literally industry standards across many industries and have been for a decade now, but if it's that hard for you to do, maybe it's time you thought about retiring. I don't have the time for your excuses, and pushback. I'm happy to drive across the state to come to your office one day and show you how to do this if necessary, but this is how we're doing business from now on, it's 2018, I'm not accepting reduced and garbled versions of large format drawings. You are welcome to speak with the owner as he's the one who authorized my decisions." She ended up not forwarding projects to me and doing the designs herself and it nearly cost her her job because of how badly she messed up several projects.
