having Billy Greer come in saved Steve big time. He took over parts for him left and right. I get to say this because Steve is my favorite vocalist all time. First saw him opening for Queen in St. Louis. Blew my brains out. He never stopped doing that on records. The only thing that ever stopped him was himself, because he let drugs in. I feel for him and his pain.
@andyk345110 ай бұрын
Me too! He gives me goosebumps. His musicality is unreal. Also, he plays keyboard and organ on a very high level.. at the same time as he sings. Allthough he had a good career, I never understood why he never got the same attention as Freddie and other likes. Especially here in Sweden. Sure there were highlights after the seventies- but in his prime he was untouchable!. Goosebumps!

Awesome song written by John Elefante (lead singer from the previous version of KANSAS before Walsh quit the first time.) All that crazy energy from Walsh on stage was infused by Cocaine which I know as a fact because I did plenty of it with him back in the day when I was running monitor mix for them. He survived the stage aerobics and keyboard handstands thankfully and is actually ashamed of the way he acted on stage back in the mid 90's. Love the guy and still stay in touch with him. Check out his newer solo material. He still has the chops!!

Unfortunately the cocaine destroyed his voice also. Many regrets I'm sure. I saw them on their Monolith tour and on their Somewhere to Elsewhere Tour and such a huge difference in his voice. Later years it just got worse. Sometimes it was just painful to listen to live. His last solo album 'Black Butterfly' was superb but then again, he was in the studio and not singing live. Miss him singing with Kansas for sure.

Thanks for putting this up. I was at this show. Styx headlined, they were both great. I still listen to Kansas once a week. My sister got married on the day of the show, but she knows I never miss Styx when there in town, and really wanted to see Kansas for the first time, so I got permission from her that I could leave the wedding early so I could make the show. Glad it was a day wedding. Thanks again.

Listen to Rich's guitar at 2:55! Not just balls but elephantitis of the balls! I complemented my old guitar player by telling him that he was born to play 3 piece because he filled all the spaces so well. Like Rich does with Kansas and my old guitar player told me it was the playing but it was also the right rig! I suspect Rich's rig is incredible!

Kansas . Just the epitome of refined progressive Rock , but the ability to create AOR radio staples that have become true Classics. Well I think that has more to do with him quitting drugs in 97, and then doing all the keyboard playing himself instead of Greg Roberts backin him up.
Well after Ragsdale quit in '97 his stage presence totally died. His keyboard playing and singing improved greatly, but it's sad he had to sacrifice his stage antics....

For a long period of time Walsh dressed in athletic apparel because of his acrobatics on stage. He had something going on with Adidas because they sent him endless amounts of clothes to wear onstage. Later when he started the drug slide he started dressing in many varied outfits like this one. When he cleaned up he started dressing conservatively again. His wardrobe is boring now!

KANSAS 4Ever! we need Steve back not the new vocalist from ARRA =cover band from my neighborhood(Chicago Burbs}.

Steve is past his prime and retired of his own accord. He just couldn't do it anymore. I think his decision to retire was a wise one because he was doing damage to himself physically. You will never see Walsh front a touring band again. It's over except for a show here or there like those "all stars of rock" debacles that they put on. I think Ronnie Platt is an amazing replacement for Walsh and has done a spectacular job.
