I want to thank you so much for this detailed tutorial ! I have the same on my 2005 cubcadet . It was running rough and like an idiot I took it off because online it told me carb was the problem. It wasn't. It was the plugs dirty filters (gas, oil , air) I thought I took good pics with my phone. I looked at other vids yours was the only one I found where you took the time to explain and close ups ! Thank you for the close ups ! You helped this 63 year old grandma fix my mower ! A tip that I learned many years ago with motorcycle carbs is to remove the bowls and completely submerge the carbs in a 50% Pine-Sol 50% water solution. Let them sit for 24 hours turning them over around the 12 hour mark. It will remove a lot of varnish and does not harm rubber or Teflon components. Also I like to run safety wire through all of the orifices, jets, etc... I like to push the safety wire through the orifices before and after the carb soak, then use compressed air afterward. * - Just remember to pull your cut safety wire through some folded sand paper after you cut it with diagonal wire cutters to remove any burrs (diagonal cutters always leave burrs) so that the safety wire won't scratch any passages. Thank you for a great "How To" video!

@@jeffslawnmowerrepairandservice great video i wish i had watched before doing this work, i did basically the same thing as far as cleaning the carb, however i didnot take the slinoid componet out as you instructed, after reassembling started right up but i could tell the engine wasnt runnung full throttle,, so like a novice i attempted to adjust the throttle and choke cables which lead to the throttle stopper screw too in an effort to idle it up and now it wont start, after jacking with it was running it and suddenly died was able to start it but it only ran momentarly ,, no she wont start ,, is there any tips or videos you have that could aid me in this? cuz im fairly certain i have it wrong. i can assume that the main jet in the silinoid componet neded attention ,, and it didnt get it,, because the carb was quite dirty,, so consequently i now figure that was the cause of the slow idle, what is your thoughts? i was careful to reassble it with out misplacing the linkage items i refered to your video and my placment of everything is just like yurs, i will clean the part i missed but the throttle cable choke cable has me wnating to choke someine [ 'myself i guess'[ thanks

This video is top notch. Your explanations and camera angles made the process very easy to understand. In my case, the repair was for a 26 Horsepower Kohler Courage engine that's on my 2007 Craftsman GTS 5000. For the first start of the season, the gas flooded into the air filter and dripped to the ground. I did some troubleshooting and decided to clean the carburetor with the help of your video. There were a couple of small differences between carburetors. First, the float bowl on mine was attached by 4 screws. Second, the float pin/needle assembly was a little different. These differences were minor and easy to work around. After following your instructions, I also changed out the oil, gas, and fuel filter. The tractor fired right up without flooding, and I mowed for about an hour until it got too dark outside. It runs like new again! Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the video. My son's Husqvarna was exactly like your Craftsman. The hood came off the same, same plug for headlights, the exact same bolts for the shroud and fuel pump, exact same linkage for the choke and throttle connections. Now I feel like I should be able to tackle his carb issue. His will not run unless the choke is halfway out and it doesn't have the power it should have. Time for a good cleaning.
@Marine450x2 жыл бұрын
I have a craftsman with this exact same Carburetor, & same issue; won't run without the choke being half or more closed. I cleaned to carb, and it's better not not completely. There is something still plugged somewhere in the carb. I'm going to soak it in my ultrasonic tank. Hopefully that will get it cleaned. (I have Mineral Spirits in it. Someone tell me if that's not good to use for carbs.)

Liked the whole step by step instructions. I have a different problem but think that this may at least get me where I need to go. I have a Kohler 24hp (KT735) that started flooding the carb, with the outlet spouting out fuel everywhere. I was advised on a forum that the float valve is stuck open and that I'll have to get a carb kit to fix it all up. I was looking for a clip here on how to do all that, and I think your clip should be enough to get me through the process, even though the engine's different.

Maybe, OR most likely it could be that the carb flooded gas into the oil crankcase and now it is too full. It evacuates this extra fluid out into the air box. Cleaning and rebuilding the carburetor is the solution ( and an oil change)
