it's seems like a normal thing for a japanese designed train, all of their trains including the commuter and metro trains always have a futuristic design which can stay new-looking for a very long time. like the JR E231 series, which was released around the end of 90s or early 2000s but one can easily think that the train is from around the mid or end of 2010s. even the shinkansen 100 series can still fit in nicely with the modern trains if it were still running, even though it was released in the 80s.

@陳秉軒-c9b 3 жыл бұрын
@@maxamaxa194 I doubt that they will export those used Shinkansen trainsets. One of the main reasons the Japanese are retiring these trains is because of metal fatigue. Though it may still seem very sturdy on the outside, many small wear and tear builds up within the frame at almost atomic level. Reducing the overall strength of the frame. Of which, if you were to reinforce the entire frame, you might as well just have a new train built from scratch, with newer technologies even.

The Max was the first train I travelled on in Japan, and the one I travelled on the most over the next ~7 years. I always liked it more than any other Shinkansen. It was quite new then and used for all the frequent stop runs, which meant it never really got to stretch its legs. It was the older model trains that were used on the longer non-stop services and that consequently got up to the higher speeds. The Max always felt like it wanted to break free and do more, go faster, show the older trains what it could really do. I'm going to miss it when I get back to Japan.

The distinct sounds are due to the fundamental difference in the structure of the train. Usually a single deck train allows space below the passenger space in each carriage to be used by the instruments (transformers, IGBTs, air conditioning etc..) On the E1/E4, such space is occupied by the existence of a lower deck, and due to the overall increment in the height of the train, the instruments have to be moved to the sides of the train (from 1:45, showing a possible inverter room on the left and air con unit on the right). The sound generated from the instrument will hence be much louder than the regular shinkansens. One possible side reasons why E4 is retiring and getting replaced by E7s for the Joetsu shinkansen. Further research of noise reduction is being conducted on their prototype ALFA-X test train which regularly runs the Tohoku route at 360km/h.

The train on the right at the beginning of the video is the replacement, which is a single-story car. In Japan, the number of double-decker trains with steps has been reduced for barrier-free reasons. There is also a reason that double-decker trains are not suitable for high-speed running on the Shinkansen.

And I was today years old when even learning about this double decker Shinkansen :O I’ve only ever heard of the regular ones before! Here in Sweden we have double decker trains but they’re regular regional trains and not high speed or even express trains, like if I was to take a double decker train from where I live to Stockholm, it would take around 4 hours, while with the express train or high speed train it only takes about 2h 45 mins because of the fewer stops and (in the case of X200) higher speed and I think I slightly shorter route than the regional train. We don’t have special high speed tracks however, even X2000 shares tracks with regional and local trains and cargo trains :/ Also, massive thumbs up for the elevator on this Shinkansen! Here in Sweden on double decker trains wheelchair users and people with impaired mobility who can’t climb the stairs don’t get the choice to ride the train on the upper floor as there’s no elevator to get up there... There’s also never any wheelchair accessible seats or areas in first class so even there we get no choice on where in the train we’d like to travel in. I’d personally prefer a quiet area or first class to not have small children around me as I’m sound sensitive, but because I’m a wheelchair user I don’t get a choice and of course the wheelchair accessible part of the trains is also where they accommodate families with small children in prams... Needless to say, I avoid going anywhere by train here because it’s just too draining and the lack of choices makes me feel like customers with disabilities are second class citizens not worthy of even being able to travel in first class...

In answer to your question, I prefer the 1st class but only if you'll be my tour guide. You seem to know the best ways to travel and things to know and do at interesting locations.

I can’t believe how compact yet spacious that double decker is. On Metra, a double decker is just really tall so the fact that you are sitting below the platform is wild.

That train is awesome. They’re not pretty, but built for a purpose and that in itself is beautiful.

I like that trains in Japan consider accommodation for persons with disabilities. The double decker is awesome! I like that there's this toy machine. Haha! I hope you'll be able to see or ride it's last run, it might be memorable. 😅 Thank you for sharing.

24 years in service and it's still 1000x better and cleaner than ANY trains we have here in America. We are so far behind

I would really love to see another double-decker shinkansen in Japan. If Japanese manufacturers don't want to produce one, I'm sure Alstom will be able to offer one.

You should try the TGV Duplex from Paris to Strassbourg. It's a TGV dubbeldecker and it goes 320 kilometers per hour.
