Sir Ridley Scott, yes you read that correctly, joins the show to primarily discuss his work on House of Gucci, but we dip into aspects of filmmaking from all over his filmography, including this year’s The Last Duel.
#HouseOfGucci #RidleyScott #LadyGaga
He talks about embracing stress, how he manages to work on two or more films at once, collaborating with his ensemble casts, camera operating on Alien, extended cuts of House of Gucci, and The Last Duel which we can look forward to, and more.
Stick around for our reactions to a number of new films hitting theaters and streaming this week, such as Paul Thomas Anderson’s Licorice Pizza and Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City. Of course, we also dive in for a full review for the major release of the week, House of Gucci.

The Last Duel it's so underrated, not only one of the best of the year, but one of his most important films conceptually. Reel Blend one of my favourite podcasts!

I would have been happier if Scott had made a version of "Joan of Arc" with Jodie Comer in the title roll. To me Scott's movies have suffered for their casting. I don't think "Napoleon" will though with Joaquin Phoenix and Jodie Comer. So looking forward to it.

It's interesting how aware Ridley Scott is of how meandering his answers are and sometimes missing the question entirely LOL ... Ridley deserves an Oscar!

Ridley Scott is such a boss and an inspiration. Its so cool to see him still making movies he is hit or miss as a director but when he makes a good movie he nocks it out of the park

Tarantino’s major difference with Scott is that Tarantino conceptualizes and writes his own movies, which could take years. Scott has writers coming to him.

Very true. That's why Tarantino and Nolan release a movie every couple of years.

Its crazy how Tarantino wants to retire at such a young age whereas directors like Ridley, Scorsese and Spielberg will probably keep directing until they're 100 lol

@@Bork_In_Volcanic The 3 legends are still making good movies IMO. Some hits and misses but overall very good. Could easily retire as they have so much $$$ but they keep making movies for our entertainment which we should all be happy about. We seriously need em because so many movies are just studio driven these days.

I think QT cares too much about his legacy as a director. The other directors you named have faith in their abilities, love making movies, but separate to Tarantino, they aren't afraid to fail and have a few misses in their catalogue.

It’s because tarantino is a narcissistic asshole who is too precious of his legacy and wants all his films to be remember for being weird and stupid rather than evolving his art.

This is the first ReelBlend Podcast I've seen. Just wanted to say what a fantastic interview this is. Very well composed questions, respectful, funny, relaxed - and the answers from Ridley Scott are extremely interesting and insightful as a result. Will definitely be checking out more of your podcasts!

I think this is the first time I disagree with the guys on a movie because I did not care for House of Gucci at all. At every single point, I felt the way the way Jake felt about Eternals in that it was just fine. The actors seemed to be in different movies and I hated how it dragged for a bit then tried to pick up for the next bit. Loved the interview guys, can’t wait to get deeper into Oscar season with hopefully PTA and GDT interviews!

It wasn't copyright infringement, it was trademark infringement when Paolo was in trouble for using Gucci's label in the "House of Gucci" when i watched it last night. Fashion designers can copy designs and sell them for cheaper it is the trade mark label he had to get into trouble for. I am a media law and documentary film maker you learn this at university. It is a shame Ridley Scott hasn't been to university you learn these things the academics of it all makes it accurate for the script. OOPS !

HI RIDLEY❗️❤️ I Love All The Movies U’ve Directed, Especially THELMA & LOUISE That Literally Changed The Course Of MY LIFE At The Time. & MY Take, After Watching ‘The House Of Gucci’ With That STELLAR CAST & GREAT LOCATION SCENERY, Is This: PATRICIA REGGIANI Was Born THE DAUGHTER OF ALDO GUCCI As A ‘Secret Child’ Who Lived With Her Mother, Who Was A REGGIANI, WHO ALDO HAD IMPREGNATED❗️ & At A Time When Aldo Also Had A Wife & 3 Other Kids At His Lavish Gucci Home. So It Isn’t So Far-Fetched That PATRICIA REGGIANI, WHO WAS BORN BY A GUCCI FATHER, Was Actually PATRIZIA (The Italian Spelling Of PATRICIA) GUCCI Who DID Fall In Love W/MAURIZIO GUCCI & Then POSSIBLY Together THEY FAKED MAURIZIO’s DEATH So They Could Live-Out Their Lives IN SECLUDED BLISS, Away From The Crazy Gucci ‘Empire’, W/THEIR SHARE OF THE GUCCI MONEY That They Received From The Court Settlement, & That, Also Possibly, They DID NO JAIL TIME FOR Because PATRIZIA & THE ACTUALLY ALIVE MAURIZIO Were Able To MAKE THE GUCCI FAMILY AN OFFER THEY COULD NOT REFUSE. 💃🏽 Oh, & Ridley, Plz See ‘Big Night’ (1996) For How Italians Sound When They Speak With An 🇺🇸 Accent. 😘

I'm with Kevin. I couldn't possibly believe that I would love a Blade Runner sequel more than I love the first one, but I got to say: Blade Runner 2049 it's a little (just a little) above its predecessor, for me.

@amilcarlinharescf
@amilcarlinharescf 2 жыл бұрын
@@god9210 Yes, both are amazing, but comparing "personality" in relation to the first and second is really complicated because the first one had everything created from scratch. The second one was a continuation of that vision with some changes, so I don't compare that aspect for that reason. Now, when it comes to the complexity I really think that both of them had their fair share, Blade Runner 2049 has some amazing symbols that I started to pick up on only around the fourth watch.
